Abstract

Latar Belakang: Traumatik ulser dapat disebabkan oleh trauma fisik atau kimiawi, dengan hilangnya lapisan epitelium hingga melebihi membarana basalis dan sampai mengenai lamina propria. Salah satu tanaman yang memiliki khasiat sebagai antiinflamasi adalah daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum L.). Kandungan kimia pada daun kemangi yang berperan sebagai antiinflamasi adalah flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin dan tanin. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum L.) 0,5% , 1% dan 1,5% terhadap jumlah sel fibroblas pada penyembuhan traumatik ulser Rattus norvegicus secara in vivo. Metode : Eksperimental laboratoris dengan desain penelitian post test only control group design. Sampel menggunakan hewan coba tikus putih Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar jantan dan gel ekstrak daun kemangi yang diekstraksi dengan pelarut etanol 96% menggunakan metode maserasi dengan konsentrasi 0,5% , 1% dan 1,5%. Analisis data menggunakan uji One Way Annova dan dilanjutkan menggunakan uji Tukey Honestly Significance Difference (HSD). Hasil : Uji One Way Annova menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai signifikansi p < 0,05. Uji Tukey HSD menunjukakan terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada setiap kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Kesimpulan : Pemberian ekstrak daun kemangi (Ocimum sanctum L.) 0,5% , 1% , 1,5% berpengaruh meningkatkan jumlah sel fibroblas dalam penyembuhan traumatik ulser in vivo Rattus norvegicus.

Abstract

Dental caries is a disease characterized by damage to the hard tissue of the teeth. Streptococcus mutans is a bacterium that causes caries. Plaque control is carried out mechanically and chemically. Therefore we need alternative natural ingredients such as emprit ginger, elephant ginger, red ginger which have antibacterial properties that can be used as Streptococcus mutans antibacterials. This study to find out the difference between extracts of emprit ginger, elephant ginger, red ginger in inhibiting bacterial growth and killing Streptococcus mutans bacteria. This study was an experimental laboratories with Post-test Only Control Group research design. The antibacterial method used is the dilution method. The treatment group consisted of extracts of emprit ginger, elephant ginger, red ginger concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 90%. We found emprit ginger extract has MIC at a concentration of 10% and MBC at a concentration of 15%. MIC of elephant ginger extract at a concentration of 15% and MBC at a concentration of 90%. Red ginger extract has MIC at a concentration of 5% and MBC at a concentration of 10%. Abstract

Latar Belakang : Basis gigi tiruan lepasan banyak menggunakan resin akrilik heat cured, karena mempunyai banyak keuntungan seperti estetik, tidak mengiritasi, tidak toksik, tidak larut dalam cairan mulut, stabilitas warna baik, harga relatif murah, mudah cara manipulasi, dan pembuatannya, mudah direparasi. Kekuatan permukaan diperlukan untuk melindungi basis gigi tiruan akrilik dari pengikisan dan goresan-goresan yang timbul akibat pembersihan gigi tiruan. Salah satu sifat fisik yang merugikan yang dimiliki oleh resin akrilik adalah mengabsorpsi cairan. Teh hitam sering dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat. Tujuan : Mengetahui kekuatan permukaan basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik heat cured, pada perendaman dalam teh hitam dengan kandungan fenol yang berbeda. Metode : Penelitian ini dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok, masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 sampel. Kelompok I direndam dalam aquades steril, kelompok II direndam dalam seduhan teh hitam dengan kandungan fenol rendah, kelompok III direndam dalam seduhan teh hitam dengan kandungan fenol sedang, kelompok IV direndam dalam seduhan teh hitam dengan kandungan fenol tinggi. Setelah itu dilakukan uji kekuatan permukaan resin akrilik Heat Cured. Hasil : Berdasarkan hasil uji One-way ANOVA antar kelompok menunjukkan bahwa p < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan bermakna antar kelompok. Simpulan : Semakin tinggi kandungan fenol seduhan teh hitam, maka semakin menurunkan kekuatan permukaan basis gigi tiruan resin akrilik heat cured

Abstract

Background: Orthodontic treatment will take longer to fail and the benefits of orthodontic treatment will be reduced. Plaque control is divided into two, mechanical plaque control and chemical plaque control. Chemical plaque control can be done by gargling with commercial mouthwash and natural ingredients such as pineapple. Pineapple fruit contains bromelain enzyme, tannin, flavonoids, steroids, fiber and water. Objective: To determine the effect of pineapple juice gargling on plaque accumulation in fixed orthodontic users. Methods: This research design is pre experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The research subjects were 30 samples. Plaque accumulation was measured using Ortho-Plaque Index with disclosing agent gel to detect the presence of plaque before and after treatment. Results: Data were analyzed using parametric hypothesis testing, namely Paired T-Test, which obtained a significance value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a difference before and after gargling pineapple juice on plaque accumulation in users of fixed orthodontics.

Abstract

Background: Bacterial colonies involving A. actinomycetemcomitans will initiate inflammation in the gingiva and extend to periodontal tissues. Zeolite is a porous natural mineral that can be modified with several metals, metal ions in zeolite are able to enter the cytoplasm and increase the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), causing cell death. The condition of antibiotic-resistant periodontitis patients can be treated with alternative therapies using metal-based materials. Research Objective: to determine the effect of silver solution concentration on zeolite on the growth inhibition of A. actinomycetemcomitans bacteria. Research Methods: Activation of zeolite with 500 ml of 3 M HCl solution for 12 hours. Ag-Zeolite modification by immersing 6 g of active zeolite in 60 ml of 0.025 M, 0.50M, and 0.1M AgNO3. Test the inhibition of modified zeolite on MHA media that has been swabbed with A. actinomycetemcomitans. Results: Zeolite modified 0.1M AgNO3 has the highest inhibition. Conclusion: The combination of silver on zeolite can affect the growth of A. actinomycetemcomitans bacteria.

Abstract

Background: Tooth extraction is the procedure of removing the tooth and its roots from the socket and can cause the injury. Post-tooth extraction wounds requires tissue replacement through the wound healing process. Wound healing process after the tooth extraction can be assisted by administering herbal plants, such as onion which mostly contains flavonoids that can play a role in the wound healing process because they are useful as anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of giving onion extract gel (Allium cepa L.) towards amount of fibroblast cells in the wound healing process after tooth extraction in male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). Methods: This study used an experimental laboratory design with a post test only randomized control group design in male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). The sample was divided into 4 groups, there are the control group and the treatment group which was given by onion extract gel with 0,06% of the concentration and decapitated on the 5th and 7th day. The tissue was taken and decalcified then stained with Haematoxylin Eosin (HE) then the fibroblast cells were observed and counted using a microscope. Results: Data were analyzed using the Oneway Annova parametric test, showing a significance value of 0.000 showed that there was a significant difference in the number of fibroblast cells between the 4 groups. The Tukey HSD test showing that each groups showed a value (p<0.05) so that all groups were different from each other and there are no group was not significantly different. Conclusion: Onion extract gel with 0,06% of the concentration has an effect on increasing the number of fibroblast cells thereby accelerating the wound healing process. Abstract

Background: Hypertension is where systolic blood pressure reaches ≥140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure ≥90 mmHg in routine examinations. Antihypertensive drugs help patients reduce high blood pressure, but on other hand, these drugs can impact the oral cavity. Amlodipine is one of the calcium-channel blockers (CCB) antihypertensive drugs. Directly and indirectly, antihypertensive drugs can affect salivary flow, causing oral symptoms, including is xerostomia. Xerostomia is a symptom or sign felt by someone with a dry mouth. Objective: To determine the effect of using calcium channel blocker (CCB) drugs on the occurrence of xerostomia in the elderly in Gurah Village, Kediri. Method: This study used an Observational Analytic design, with a cross-sectional design. The data obtained were then analyzed and interpreted to test the hypothesis using the Independent T-test with a nominal and ratio variable data scale. Results: The significant value of the Independent T-test on salivary flow rate was 0.032. (<0.05) which means there is a significant effect Conclusion: There is an effect of using calcium channel blocker drugs on the occurrence of xerostomia in the elderly in Gurah Village, Kediri. Abstract

Background : Porphyromonas gingivalis is an anaerobic gram-negative bacterium which has the ability to penetrate into the gingival sulcus so that it can cause periodontal pockets in periodontal disease. Riskesdas data shows that the prevalence of periodontal disease in Indonesia reached 74.1% for all age groups. Extract of Honey Pineapple tubers (Ananas comosus L.Merr) contain active compounds, namely the enzyme bromelain and secondary metabolite compounds which have the potential to be antibacterial which can inhibit bacterial metabolism and cause death of the bacteria. Objective: To determine the antibacterial effect of honey pineapple tuber extract (Ananas comosus L.Merr) on Porphyromonas gingivalis. Research Method: This type of research is an in vitro laboratory experiment with a post-test only control group design. The sample size using the Federer formula obtained 10 treatment groups with a total population sampling technique of 30 samples. Results: A concentration of 0.78% is the Minimum Inhibitory Level (MIC) and at a concentration of 6.25% is the Minimum Kill Level (MBC). Conclusion: Honey pineapple tuber extract (Ananas comosus L.merr) has antibacterial power against Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. Keywords: Ananas comosus L. Abstract

Infectious diseases are still the main cause of high morbidity and mortality rates in hospitals. Infections that occur in health services are called Health-care Associated Infections (HAIs) or nosocomial infections. As health workers, students of the dental profession have an obligation to control infection, by washing their hands according to WHO standards, because the hands are the dominant means of movement used when working so compliance with hand washing is very influential in preventing the chain of infection. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of dental professional students and hand washing compliance at RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata. This type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with 100 respondents and processed using the SPSS Chi-Square test. The research results showed that the p value was 0.000 < 0.05, meaning there was a significant relationship. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge of dental professional students and their hand washing compliance at RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata.

Abstract

Abstrak Latar belakang : Gingivitis merupakan suatu penyakit yang menyerang jaringan periodontal yang bisa disebabkan oleh penumpukan plak dan bakteri sehingga menimbulkan reaksi inflamasi pada gingiva. Makrofag merupakan sel imun dan inflamasi yang berfungsi dalam pertahanan tubuh terhadap infeksi patogen penyakit periodontal. Sel inflamasi yang muncul pada peradangan kronis adalah limfosit dan juga poliferasi fibroblas biasanya muncul pada jaringan gingiva setelah diberikan terapi periodontal. Pemberian gel probiotik Lactobacillus reuteri pada hewan coba yang mengalami inflamasi menyebabkan sel makrofag terpolarisasi dari makrofag M1 menjadi makrofag M2, yang menghambat terjadinya inflamasi dan mengontrol keseimbangan pertahanan tubuh, yang berdampak pada efek penghambatan produksi sitokin proinflamasi yaitu TNF- α dan interleukin. Begitu juga limfosit dan fibroblas. Obyektif: Tujuan dari pelaksanaan penelitian eksperimental ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pada pemberian gel probiotik Lactobacillus reuteri dapat mempengaruhi hitung jumlah sel makrofag, limfosit dan Fibroblas pada tikus wistar untuk pengobatan gingivitis atau radang pada gingiva. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian jenis eksperimental laboratoris dengan rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah post-test-only control group design. Dilakukan pada sejumlah tikus wistar berjenis kelamin jantan sebanyak 32 ekor tikus yang berumur sekitar 2-3 bulan dengan berat badan seberat 150-200 gram, dalam penelitian ini dibagi menjadi dua kelompok penelitian yaitu tikus wistar kelompok penelitian pertama diberi perlakuan akuades steril tanpa gel probiotik, dan kelompok penelitian kedua diberi perlakuan gel probiotik Lactobacillus reuteri. Pemberian gel probiotik dilakukan saat terjadi tanda-tanda inflamasi pada gingiva tikus akibat induksi LPS E. coli. Kemudian pada hari ke-11 dilakukan proses dekaputasi jaringan setelah perlakuan. Selanjutnya bagian labial gingiva anterior mandibula dibuat preparat histologis untuk pewarnaan hematoxylineosin dan pemeriksaan mikroskopis untuk menghitung jumlah sel makrofag. Data yang telah diperoleh kemudian dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan uji statistik Independent sample t-test. Hasil: Perolehan dari uji statistika Independent sample t-test dalam penelitian ini dengan p-value < 0,05 menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada perlakuan antar kelompok penelitian. Kesimpulan Abstrak : Pemberian gel probiotik Lactobacillus reuteri dapat mempengaruhi jumlah makrofag, limfosit dan fibroblas tikus wistar dalam pengobatan gingivitis. Macrophages are immune and inflammatory cells that function in the body's defense against microbial infection with periodontal disease pathogens. Inflammatory cells will be appear in chronic inflammations are lymphocytes and also proliferation of fibroblast usually appear in the gingival tissue after periodontal theraphy is given. Giving probiotic gel Lactobacillus reuteri to experimental animals that experience inflammation causes macrophage cells to polarize from M1 macrophages towards M2 macrophages, which inhibit inflammation and control immune balance, which affects the inhibitory effect of pro-inflammatory cytokine production, namely TNF-α and Interleukins. So do lymphocites and fibroblast. Objective: This study aims to determine whether administering Lactobacillus reuteri probiotic gel can affect the number of macrophages, Lymphocites and Fibroblasts in Wistar rats to treat gingivitis. Methods: This research is an experimental laboratory with a post-test-only control group design. This experimental research was conducted on 32 male Wistar rats aged 2-3 months with a weight of 150-200 grams in laboratory. These rats is divided into two groups: Wistar rats in the first group were given distilled water without probiotic gel, and the second group was treated with Lactobacillus reuteri probiotic gel. Administration of probiotic gel was carried out when signs of inflammation occurred in the rat gingiva due to LPS E. coli induction. Then on the 11th day, decaputation was carried out after treatment. Furthermore, the labial portion of the mandibular anterior gingiva was made histological preparations for staining hematoxylin-eosin and microscopic examination to count the number of macrophage cells. Data were analyzed using the Independent sample t-test. Results : The results of statistical analysis, shows significant differences between research groups with a p-value is <0, 05 by the Independent sample t-test. Conclusion: Administration probiotic gel Lactobacillus reuteri can affecting the numbers of macrophages, lymphocites and fibroblast of wistar rats in the treatment of gingivitis.
