Abstract

Research Problems: Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PESH) are often overlooked compared to other subjects, resulting in some learning objectives not being optimally achieved. Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the profile of PESH at the Senior High School level, focusing on: (1) the availability of facilities and infrastructure, (2) the availability of PE instructors, (3) the performance of educational institutions in improving PE quality, and (4) achievements and awards over the past year. Methods: The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach. Data were collected using the Physical Education and Sports Database Instrument developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. The study was conducted in Senior High Schools across Muara Enim District. Results: The results indicate that, overall, PJOK in these schools falls under the good (B) category. The availability of instructors is rated very good (A), but challenges remain in managing facilities and infrastructure, which require further attention. Additionally, sports achievements need improvement, as some schools only participated in competitions without winning significant awards. Conclusion: Although PESH in Muara Enim District is functioning well, facility maintenance and sports achievement development improvements are necessary to ensure PESH contributes optimally to students' physical development and health.

Abstract

Research Problems: Physical education aims to improve physical fitness, motor skills, and awareness of a healthy lifestyle. Extracurricular sports, such as futsal, play a role in channelling students' interests while shaping character and social skills. However, the achievement of extracurricular futsal at State Senior High School 1 Muaro Jambi has decreased, allegedly due to low aerobic endurance associated with VO2Max. Research Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyse the VO₂Max level of student futsal athletes to determine their aerobic capacity. Methods: This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a one-shot-method. Data was collected through the Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) on 27 students who became the research sample. Data analysis was done descriptively quantitative. Results: The results showed that only 1 learner with a percentage (3.7%) had very good VO2Max, 4 learners with a percentage (14.8%) were good, 9 learners with a percentage (33.3%) were moderate, and 13 learners with a percentage (48.1%) were lacking. Conclusion: Most learners have low fitness, which impacts team performance and achievement. This study confirms the importance of a structured training program to improve VO2 max to support optimal performance in competition.

Abstract

Research Problems: Agility is one of the important components in badminton that plays a major role in supporting athlete performance, especially in moving positions quickly and precisely. However, many students who participate in badminton extracurricular activities still experience limitations regarding movement agility. One training method that can be applied to improve agility is shadow training. Research Objectives: This study aims to analyse the effect of shadow training on increasing agility in students who participate in badminton extracurricular activities at Antarika Sidoarjo High School. Methods: The research method used was a one-group pretest-posttest design, where before being given treatment, the sample underwent an initial test (pretest), was then given a shadow training program, and ended with a final test (posttest). The population in this study consisted of 15 badminton extracurricular students, who were also used as research samples. Data collection was carried out through tests and measurements using the agility t-test to assess the level of agility before and after treatment. Results: The results of data analysis conducted with the help of SPSS 23.0 software showed a significant effect of shadow training on improving student agility. This is evidenced by the sig value. (2-tailed) value of 0.003, which is smaller than the significance limit of 0.05. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that shadow training contributes positively to improving the agility of badminton extracurricular students at Antartika Sidoarjo High School.

Abstract

Research Problems: Archery requires precision, concentration, and physical and mental stability. Effective training management is essential to support athlete performance. However, suboptimal implementation is still common, highlighting the need for studies to evaluate and improve training effectiveness in this sport. Research Objectives: This study examines the management of archery training at the Rajawali Archery Club in Jambi City. Methods: A qualitative research method with a case study approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data sources comprised the club’s management, coaches, and athletes. Results: The findings reveal that the training management at Rajawali Archery Club encompasses four essential components: planning, organising, directing, and evaluation. The planning process is systematically arranged, involving the formulation of training objectives, target setting, and the implementation of structured training programs. In terms of organisation, the club continues to encounter challenges, particularly concerning inadequate facilities and infrastructure that have yet to meet proper safety standards. Coaching activities are delivered through technical instruction and motivational support for athletes, while evaluations are conducted monthly to monitor athletes’ development and to assess the effectiveness of the training program. Conclusion: The training management at the Rajawali Archery Club is generally well-implemented; however, further improvements in facilities and financial support are necessary to optimise athlete performance and to support the achievement of higher competitive outcomes.

Abstract

Research Problems: The lack of literature studies, such as books discussing traditional metembing sports in elementary education units, is the root of this problem and the socialisation of traditional sports games.  Research Objectives: This study aims to describe the Traditional Metembing Sports Game in Baha Tourism Village, Badung Regency. Methods: This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques use observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The research instrument uses interview guidelines. Results: The results of this study are from 5 informants who were interviewed, they know the traditional metembing sports game, but if implemented in schools, many students do not know this traditional sports game, therefore the development of traditional metembing sports games among the younger generation is almost unknown due to the lack of literature and lack of socialization of traditional sports games. Conclusion: The traditional metembing sports game is a hereditary heritage from Baha Tourism Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, which is played as entertainment to fill free time. The facilities and infrastructure used are in the form of broken roof tiles and coins. The characters developed in this traditional metembing sports game are the values of honesty, hard work, sportsmanship, and discipline. Meanwhile, the prominent physical fitness components in the traditional metembing sport are accuracy, coordination, and flexibility. This study provides in-depth information about the traditional metembing sport, which is still oral. It is hoped that traditional sports will get a balanced proportion in the elementary and secondary education curriculum.
