Abstract

Malnutrition in pregnant women, particularly Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), remains a serious issue in Indonesia. CED can lead to various health complications for both the mother and the fetus, such as prolonged labor, preterm birth, postpartum hemorrhage, and congenital anomalies. Education and counseling on the prevention of CED are crucial to enhance pregnant women's knowledge about its risks and prevention methods. This community service program was conducted by KKN students from Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu in Kesambe Lama Village, Curup Timur District, Rejang Lebong Regency. The program included observation, interviews, preparation of educational materials, and implementation of counseling sessions. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge about CED, as well as their ability to explain the risks and prevention methods.

Abstract

High blood pressure or what can be interpreted as hypertension is a health problem that can affect anyone, both young and old. Hypertension is one of the most deadly health problems on the global stage. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a significant medical condition which can specifically cause risks to the heart, brain, kidneys and other health problems (Musa, 2022) Hypertension is one of the causes of stroke because hypertension can damage blood vessels and increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and kidney failure. In the elderly, hypertension is more difficult to control and can increase the risk of complications. Stroke is an event that occurs when blood flow to the brain is cut off. In the elderly, strokes occur more often and can cause disability and death. It can be concluded that age, mobility, activity, obesity and hypertension are interrelated factors that can increase the risk of stroke in the elderly (Anshari, 2020). The level of education affects a person, how he or she absorbs information and provides a basis for life. Formal education can also provide more value for individuals, especially in accepting new things. This may also be related to the level of education in Indonesia, where the majority of education is still middle to lower. One preventive effort to increase the level of client knowledge regarding the dangers of a disease is by providing health education. Health education is an independent nursing intervention to help clients overcome their health problems through learning activities, thereby increasing knowledge and behavior to prevent disease and improve health (Hapitria & Padmawati, 2021).

Abstract

The importance of community service activities is to help the community, especially people from the lower middle class, to carry out supporting examinations for cardiovascular diseases which are often suffered by the community. The aim of this community service activity is to find out the results of blood glucose examinations in the community at RT 25, Sawah Lebar Village, Ratu Agung District. Bengkulu City. Blood sugar or blood glucose is sugar found in the blood and comes from the formation of carbohydrates from food and is stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. The insulin hormone is a hormone that affects blood sugar levels. The reference value for blood glucose levels in plasma is 70-110 mg/dl, glucose 2 hours post prandial (after glucose administration) ≤140 mg/dl/2 hours, and immediate blood glucose ≤110 mg/dl. The method is carried out by taking a brief history and checking blood sugar levels with a device. After the examination, it was found that of the 32 people examined, 1 of them had high blood sugar levels, and the other 31 people were normal. It is best to check blood sugar levels on an ongoing basis to prevent non-communicable diseases as early as possible, especially for people who have the potential to experience this disease and for people who already suffer from Diabetes Mellitus, they can control their blood sugar levels so that they remain within reasonable limits so that complaints of signs and symptoms do not occur. which is undesirable.

instilling a clean and healthy life both in general health and dental health is the right thing. Dental health of children, it is very important for parents and school teachers to monitor the child's oral hygiene regularly. One way to realize is by detecting caries early. The purpose of this service is to get an idea of the level of tooth decay and motivation to do fillings by checking and monitoring dental health. This method of community service begins with the preparation stage, namely licensing, compiling work programs. Furthermore, the stages of implementing the activity began with screening the child's dental health status using the RTI and PTI indexes. Clinical examination of decay-teeth, missing-teeth and filling-teeth components was carried out by 9 children. The DMF-T index has an average of 4.77, meaning that the severity of caries is in the high category. The most PTI in the category is bad (99.4%) and the most RTI in the bad category (54%). The role of dental health workers is very important to achieve the 2030 caries-free policy through UKGS activities. So it is necessary to have continuous cooperation with dental health workers to improve the degree of dental health to avoid the occurrence of dental and oral diseases

Abstract

Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. This disease has become a growing global health problem, especially in developing countries, including Indonesia. Hypertension often shows no symptoms in its early stages, earning it the nickname "silent killer." This study aims to identify the main risk factors contributing to hypertension in urban communities and evaluate strategies for its management. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design, involving respondents aged 30-65 years residing in the Jayaloka subdistrict. Data were collected through structured interviews and blood pressure measurements using a digital sphygmomanometer. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between risk factors such as smoking habits, excessive salt consumption, lack of physical activity, obesity, and family history of hypertension. The results showed that 40% of respondents experienced hypertension, with a higher prevalence in the age group above 50 years. The main risk factors significantly associated with hypertension were obesity (p < 0.05), high salt consumption (p < 0.05), and a family history of hypertension (p < 0.01). Management strategies involving lifestyle modifications such as a low-salt diet, increased physical activity, and health education proved effective in reducing blood pressure among individuals with mild to moderate hypertension. This study concludes that hypertension can be prevented and managed through a combination of promotive and preventive efforts. Therefore, community health interventions focusing on controlling major risk factors are essential to reduce the burden of hypertension in the Jayaloka subdistrict

Abstract

Stunting is a long-term nutritional disorder that ultimately affects a child's physical and cognitive development. One non-pharmacological intervention to prevent stunting is baby massage, which can stimulate appetite, improve blood circulation, and provide sensory and motor stimulation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of education about baby massage in increasing mothers' knowledge of stunting prevention. The method used was a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 14 mothers in Gedongan Village, Sukoharjo. The intervention was conducted through socialization, baby massage practice, and the distribution of leaflets. The analysis results showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge levels after the intervention, with the category of good knowledge rising from 64.3% to 92.9%, while the poor category decreased from 35.7% to 7.1% (p = 0.025). These findings indicate that education about baby massage effectively enhances mothers' understanding of stunting prevention. Therefore, similar educational programs should be integrated into community-based stunting prevention efforts to support optimal child growth.
