Abstract

This study aims to explore the use of the PIECES Method in measuring user satisfaction with academic portals at higher education institutions in South Tangerang City. User satisfaction with academic portals is crucial in enhancing efficiency, service quality, and learning experiences in a higher education environment. The study was conducted over eight months, from February to September 2024, across four higher education institutions in South Tangerang City. Data collection techniques included literature review, interviews, observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The findings of this research are expected to serve as a guide for higher education institutions in improving the quality of their academic portal services, thereby enhancing user satisfaction and learning experiences. The results indicate that the academic portals have met user expectations based on the PIECES framework. In terms of performance, the portal was rated as fast and stable, although it encountered challenges during high traffic periods, and e-learning features require further development. The information provided is accurate and up-to-date, while cost and time efficiency are considered good. Users feel they have adequate control over their data, and support services are viewed as responsive. These findings have significant implications for the management and development of academic portals, encouraging service quality improvements and ensuring the effective use of portals in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Technology has become part of a strategy to improve the quality of learning, including in elementary schools. However, the specific influence on student learning activity still needs to be proven empirically. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of Wordwall integration in learning to encourage increased student learning activity by comparing student learning activities that integrate Wordwall with conventional learning. This study uses a quasi-experimental design in the form of a posttest-only control design. The population in this study were all students of 4th grade SDN 3 Parepare, as many as 108 people, while the sample used was class 4.1 as an experimental class with 37 students and 4.2 as a control class with 36 students. The treatment given to the experimental class was to integrate Wordwall during the learning process from the beginning to the end of learning. The research data were obtained from the posttest of the observation results of learning activity by observers in the experimental and control classes. The data analysis technique was the Independent Sample T-test. The result is that students in classes that integrate Wordwall into their learning have better learning activities. The inferential statistical analysis results showed Sig (2-tailed) = 0.00 <0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, this study concludes that there is a difference in learning activity between students taught with the integration of Wordwall game media and students taught with conventional media. Wordwall integration into learning can effectively encourage learning activity. Future researchers can examine more in-depth aspects related to the use of Wordwalls in elementary school learning, such as cognitive aspects, challenges and barriers.

Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of English lecturers at the Faculty of Languages and Culture, University of 17 Agustus 1945 Semarang, regarding the use of QuillBot, an AI-powered paraphrasing tool, in academic writing. In an era where digital tools are transforming educational practices, QuillBot offers features such as grammar improvement, paraphrasing, and plagiarism prevention, which are particularly beneficial for non-native English speakers. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with seven English lecturers familiar with QuillBot. Findings reveal that 85% of lecturers perceive QuillBot as beneficial for enhancing students' paraphrasing and rewriting skills, while 70% believe it improves grammar and sentence structure. However, 30% expressed concerns about over-reliance on the tool, which may hinder the development of students’ independent writing abilities. The study underscores the importance of integrating QuillBot into teaching strategies responsibly. While its utility in fostering academic integrity and writing proficiency is evident, lecturers emphasize the need to balance its use with traditional learning methods to ensure holistic language development. The research highlights the potential of QuillBot to supplement instruction, but cautions against its overuse, which might compromise critical thinking and originality in student writing. Recommendations include incorporating QuillBot into process-oriented writing pedagogies, promoting digital literacy, and utilizing peer-review sessions to mitigate dependency. The study contributes to the discourse on AI-driven tools in education, advocating for a balanced approach that maximizes their benefits while maintaining academic integrity. Limitations include the small sample size and focus on a single institution, suggesting avenues for future research involving diverse contexts and quantitative assessments of QuillBot’s impact on writing quality and plagiarism rates.

Abstract

In Indonesia, there are no augmented reality-based management economics textbooks yet, most of them are still ordinary printed management economics books. In the previous introductory management course book, it was still a regular printed book, there was no touch of augmented reality technology so that the product of the introductory management course was still simple, then after conducting interviews with the lecturers of the introductory management course, an interactive smartbook based on augmented reality with a constructivist approach will be developed in the introductory management course using the ADDIE model, The research method uses the ADDIE model which is implemented holistically from the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation stages, and has been assessed by the validation of learning media experts by 98% and learning material experts by 87.5%, then an interesting introductory management book was produced with its augmented reality and was accepted by students with an assessment score of 92.75% meaning that this interactive smartbook product is very suitable for use in introductory management learning.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, students are expected to possess intellectual, spiritual, and social intelligence. Spiritual, and social intelligence to navigate complex societal challenges effectively. However, the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in fostering these qualities, particularly in higher education, remains underexplored. This study examines the impact of PAI on students' spiritual and social qualities. This study bridges this gap by examining the effects of PAI on students' spiritual and social qualities. This study examines the impact of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) on improving students' spiritual and social qualities at the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology, University Muhammadiyah Semarang. The research employed a quantitative survey method using accidental sampling, involving 150 third-semester students who had completed the PAI course. Data were collected through a 12-item questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis and t-tests. The results indicate that PAI learning significantly enhances students' spiritual quality, reflected in their understanding of religious teachings, frequency of worship, and ethical awareness. Social quality also showed significant improvement, as evidenced by increased participation in social activities, empathy towards others, and effective communication skills. All variables demonstrated a p-value of less than 0.05, indicating significant changes after the PAI learning. Although this study highlights the crucial role of PAI in shaping students' character, it has several limitations, such as its single-faculty focus, reliance on a specific questionnaire, and short-term observation, highlight the need for further research. Moreover, the study only observed short-term effects, suggesting the need for further research with
