Abstract

This article analyzes the legal position, duties, independence, and liability of curators in Indonesian corporate bankruptcy, while clarifying their relationship with corporate dissolution. It addresses a recurring normative problem: Law Number 37 of 2004 requires a curator to be independent and free from conflicts of interest, yet it does not provide sufficiently operational indicators for evaluating that independence or for distinguishing professional risk from actionable fault. The study uses normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and analytical approaches. Primary materials include the Bankruptcy and Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations Law and the Limited Liability Company Law, supported by recent legal scholarship on curator duties, supervision, creditor protection, going concern, and professional liability. The analysis shows that a curator is a court-appointed estate administrator whose authority covers asset preservation, claim verification, business continuation when value-enhancing, liquidation, and proportional distribution. A corporate liquidator, however, operates within the dissolution regime and should not be equated automatically with a bankruptcy curator. The article proposes objective safeguards consisting of pre-appointment disclosure, continuing conflict checks, independent valuation, transparent reporting, documented decision-making, effective supervisory review, and a fault-based liability standard balanced by functional protection for good-faith conduct.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a fundamental factor impacting students' engagement and success in learning English as a foreign language (EFL). The flipped classroom has emerged as a student-centered instructional approach that coordinates pre-class learning with interactive classroom exercises to foster active engagement and learner independence. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the usage of the flipped classroom strategy and students' motivation in learning English among twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sukodadi, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was utilized, including 40 students chosen through purposive sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. The findings revealed a strong positive and statistically significant relationship between the usage of the flipped classroom strategy and students' learning motivation (r = 0.742, p < 0.001). These findings show that students who experienced better implementation of the flipped classroom tended to illustrate higher levels of motivation in learning English. This study contributes observational evidence supporting the use of technology-enhanced, student-centered learning to cultivate students' motivation in Indonesian EFL classrooms and recommends that the flipped classroom may serve as a compelling guideline technique for English language teaching.

Abstract

Muncar Subdistrict, Banyuwangi Regency, is known as Indonesia's largest fish-processing industrial center, yet the activities of 49 fish-processing companies operating in the area have caused persistent wastewater pollution due to direct discharge into the environment without adequate Wastewater Treatment Installations (IPAL). This study aims to analyze the responsibility of the Banyuwangi Regency Government for such pollution, efforts to protect the rights of affected communities, and to formulate an ideal concept for future environmental law enforcement. The study employs an empirical juridical method with a sociological legal approach, through observation, interviews, and questionnaires administered to the Environmental Agency, related institutions, and affected communities in Kedungrejo Village, Muncar. The findings indicate that supervision conducted by the Banyuwangi Environmental Agency has not been effective due to limited human resources, minimal transparency, and law enforcement restricted mainly to written warnings. Fish-processing wastewater pollution has degraded water quality, caused health problems, reduced fishermen's catches by up to 60%, and damaged road infrastructure. Environmental restoration and compensation through CSR programs have not been implemented equitably. The study recommends strengthening institutional capacity, applying the polluter-pays principle, and adopting an anticipatory-government approach to achieve fair and sustainable environmental law enforcement.

Abstract

Indonesia’s Law Number 37 of 2004 was designed to provide a rapid, simple, and collective mechanism for resolving unpaid debts. Nevertheless, the combination of a low statutory threshold for bankruptcy and the open-textured requirement of “simple proof” continues to generate tension between legal certainty and substantive justice. This article examines how those principles are regulated and applied, and evaluates the responsibilities of commercial judges and curators in protecting creditors and debtors. The study uses normative legal research with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. Primary materials comprise bankruptcy legislation, judicial-power rules, selected Constitutional Court and Supreme Court materials, and relevant commercial-court reasoning; secondary materials consist mainly of recent peer-reviewed legal scholarship. The analysis finds that certainty is weakened not by the absence of procedural rules, but by the lack of operational standards for disputed debt, maturity, creditor plurality, proportionality, and financial distress. Justice is also vulnerable after adjudication when estate administration is insufficiently transparent or effectively supervised. The article proposes a two-stage judicial screening model, a structured proportionality test, clearer statutory indicators of simple proof, and digital, periodic curator reporting. These reforms would preserve procedural speed while reducing strategic petitions and strengthening balanced protection for all parties.

Abstract

Extreme rainfall requires monitoring due to the potential increased risk of hydrometeorological disasters. The BMKG defines extreme rainfall as rainfall exceeding 150 mm per day; however, rainfall characteristics vary by region. This study aims to apply the Isolation Forest algorithm to detect daily rainfall anomalies and compare the results with the BMKG extreme rainfall threshold. Data from Juanda, Kediri, and Malang stations—totaling 1,006 observations—were used. The model used daily rainfall and month of observation as features, with a contamination value of 0.05. Results showed that the model detected 17 anomalies in Juanda, 17 in Kediri, and 18 in Malang. The model also identified one BMKG-defined extreme event in Juanda (150.8 mm) as an anomaly. Comparative evaluation showed a 100% recall rate for BMKG-defined extreme events; however, this figure requires cautious interpretation, as the dataset contains only one BMKG-defined extreme event. These findings suggest that Isolation Forest can serve as a tool to identify local rainfall anomalies without replacing BMKG operational thresholds.

Abstract

This study describes the experiences of first-year students related to academic culture silence in English language learning during their transition from high school to university. The study was carried out in the English Education Department of Islamic Darul Ulum University Lamongan, Indonesia, and involved four students (two males and two females). The results show that students experienced diverse difficulties, including contradictions in high school teacher-centered approach and university student-centered approach, extensive use of English during classes, great number of academic assignments, inability to follow lectures, and psychological obstacles like anxiety, fear of errors, low self-esteem, and social comparison. Nevertheless, the students managed to overcome the difficulties by applying different techniques such as self-study with materials and watching English videos, consulting with professors and graduate students, teamwork with peers in learning, vocabulary improvement and building self-confidence, and perception of mistakes as a natural part of the learning process. Based on the findings, it could be said that academic culture silence is not a permanent barrier, but only a transitional state, and that linguistic competence, independence, and socialization are crucial for successful adaptation. This study is important for understanding the experience of freshmen at EFL local.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine upper-grade elementary students' ability to elaborate ideas in writing and determine its relationship with Indonesian language learning achievement at SD Negeri 1 Segaran, Malang Regency. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 31 students from Grades IV, V, and VI. Data were collected through writing tests, classroom observations, and students' report card scores. Writing ability was assessed using indicators of idea content, organization, coherence, and elaboration. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and Spearman's rank correlation. The findings revealed that students' idea elaboration ability was generally at a moderate level, with idea content emerging as the strongest aspect, while coherence and elaboration remained relatively weak. Spearman's rank correlation demonstrated a positive and statistically significant relationship between students' idea elaboration ability and Indonesian language achievement across all grade levels. These findings suggest that stronger idea elaboration skills are associated with higher academic achievement in Indonesian language learning and highlight the importance of developing writing instruction that emphasizes idea generation, organization, and elaboration in elementary education.

Abstract

Piezoelectric energy conversion systems are essential renewable energy harvesting solutions for autonomously powering Internet of Things devices. Piezoelectric ceramic elements are highly susceptible to functional degradation due to cyclic mechanical stress exposure that triggers material fatigue. This study proposes a smart computational predictive maintenance approach to detect system anomalies in real time. The experiment acquires transient electrical parameters namely voltage and current, as well as spatial mechanical vibrations from a piezoelectric matrix prototype. Given the high cost of physical destructive testing, a dataset of five thousand samples was synthesized using an empirical data augmentation approach based on hardware ground truth. The Random Forest Classifier algorithm was implemented for binary classification of normal and anomaly system conditions. Independent testing results demonstrated that the model achieved an accuracy of 94.6 percent, precision of 92.49 percent, sensitivity of 94.71 percent, and an F1 score of 93.59 percent. The predictive error margin of approximately seven percent proves the model robustness in accommodating highly realistic physical ambiguous zones. The model is algorithmically consistent with material physics laws by prioritizing voltage features and vertical acceleration, while ignoring microampere current fluctuations. This performance solidifies the viability of ensemble architecture as a structural health monitoring system in edge computing networks.
