Abstract

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants as it contains complete nutrients and plays an important role in supporting infant growth and development. One of the common problems experienced by postpartum mothers is insufficient breast milk production, which may affect the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Non-pharmacological methods that can be used to increase breast milk production include oxytocin massage and classical music therapy. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of oxytocin massage combined with classical music on increasing breast milk production among postpartum mothers 7–40 days after delivery at Kartika Jaya Clinic, Samarinda City, in 2026. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach. The sample consisted of 30 respondents, including 15 respondents in the intervention group and 15 respondents in the control group selected through purposive sampling. The intervention group received oxytocin massage combined with classical music, while the control group received routine postpartum care according to standard procedures. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed an increase in breast milk production in the intervention group after receiving oxytocin massage combined with classical music. Statistical analysis demonstrated a p-value < 0.05, indicating that the combination of oxytocin massage and classical music had a significant effect on increasing breast milk production among postpartum mothers 7–40 days after delivery. The combination of oxytocin massage and classical music is an effective non-pharmacological method for increasing breast milk production and supporting the success of exclusive breastfeeding among postpartum mothers.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of liquid natural rubber latex and cement filler on the Marshall characteristics of Asphalt Concrete–Binder Course (AC-BC). A laboratory experiment was conducted using two asphalt contents (4.5% and 5.5%) and four latex contents (0%, 8%, 10%, and 12% by asphalt weight). Three specimens were prepared for each combination, resulting in 24 Marshall specimens. The evaluated parameters were voids in mixture (VIM), voids in mineral aggregate (VMA), voids filled with bitumen (VFB), stability, flow, and Marshall Quotient (MQ). At 4.5% asphalt, the 12% latex mixture produced the highest stability of 1,036.8 kg and an MQ of 343.44 kg/mm. At 5.5% asphalt, the 8% latex mixture produced the highest stability of 1,085.0 kg and an MQ of 371.46 kg/mm. All modified mixtures satisfied the minimum stability requirement and the specified flow range. The control mixture at 5.5% asphalt had a VIM of 2.87%, below the 3–5% requirement, whereas latex-modified mixtures remained within the range. The response was non-linear, indicating an optimum balance between asphalt, latex, and cement filler. Latex addition can improve load-bearing capacity and mixture stiffness when applied at an appropriate dosage.

Abstract

This article examines how adaptive leadership practices enacted by Indonesian school principals contribute to improving education quality within the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka. Kurikulum Merdeka is a national curriculum reform that grants schools and teachers greater flexibility to design learning, emphasizes essential content, and promotes project-based learning to strengthen the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Anchored in adaptive leadership theory, the study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore principals’ lived experiences in navigating complex curricular changes, resource constraints, and heterogeneous learner needs. Data are conceptualized as in-depth narratives from principals, vice-principals, and senior teachers in basic education settings implementing Kurikulum Merdeka. Thematic analysis, informed by Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, generates an integrative model comprising four dimensions of adaptive principal leadership: diagnosing contextual and curricular challenges, orchestrating teacher learning, reconfiguring school structures and resources, and cultivating collaborative learning communities. These practices align with prior Indonesian evidence that principal leadership significantly shapes teacher quality, instructional practices, and school effectiveness. The article concludes with theoretical and practical implications for leadership preparation, district support, and policy design to strengthen adaptive capacity of school leaders under Kurikulum Merdeka

Abstract

Papanicolaou staining is a common or most frequently used staining method in cytology because it provides a highly detailed view of cell nuclei and cytoplasmic transparency. Giemsa staining is generally used on blood smears, but it can also provide a highly detailed view of cells, including epithelial cells. This study aims to investigate and evaluate the effectiveness of Giemsa staining as a substitute for Papanicolaou staining in urinary cytology. The research method employed was a descriptive experimental laboratory study evaluating twenty urine cytology slides stained with a 25% Giemsa solution, using Papanicolaou staining as the reference method. The slides were evaluated based on cell morphology, nuclear contrast, cytoplasmic contrast, and background clarity. Most of the urine cytology slides stained with Giemsa were classified as “Good” (50%) or “Very Good” (35%), with no slides classified as “Not Good.” Giemsa staining preserves nuclear morphology but shows lower cytoplasmic transparency compared to Papanicolaou staining.

Abstract

This study examines the textual strategies used to reclaim female agency in Carol Ann Duffy’s poetry collection “The World’s Wife” through Hélène Cixous’s framework of écriture féminine. While past research heavily generalizes historical or mythological adaptations, this paper addresses a critical gap by analyzing the exact linguistic subversion and structural reconstruction of the female body and voice. Applying a mimetic approach and qualitative close reading, this study analyzes three specific poems: "Little Red Cap," "Queen Kong," and "Mrs Rip Van Winkle." The findings show that female liberation functions as a continuous, structured journey: developing from the deconstruction of internal psychological and spatial fears in "Little Red Cap," transitioning into a radical subversion of the masculine gaze through humor and desire in "Queen Kong," and culminating in complete somatic independence and autonomous creative expression in "Mrs Rip Van Winkle." Ultimately, this study demonstrates that Duffy’s revisions operate beyond simple thematic commentary; they serve as a radical practice of écriture féminine that successfully weaponizes aesthetic structures to destroy traditional patriarchal binary systems in literature.

Abstract

Children with thalassemia are at increased risk of growth impairment and endocrine dysfunction, including thyroid abnormalities. However, the relationship between thyroid function and stunting remains unclear. This cross-sectional study included 51 children with confirmed thalassemia. Growth status was assessed using height-for-age Z-score (HAZ) and percentage height deficit relative to mid-parental target height (Mid-TPG), while thyroid function was evaluated by measuring serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and free thyroxine (FT4). Data were analyzed using Pearson or Spearman correlation, multivariable linear regression, locally estimated scatterplot smoothing (LOESS), generalized additive models (GAM), and k-means clustering. No significant associations were found between thyroid hormone levels and either HAZ or height deficit in multivariable analyses (all p > 0.05). FT4 showed a weak positive correlation with HAZ (ρ = 0.265), although it was not statistically significant (p = 0.06). LOESS and GAM demonstrated limited explanatory power. K-means clustering identified three distinct growth phenotypes with significant differences in HAZ and height deficit (p < 0.001), whereas TSH and FT4 levels did not differ across clusters. These findings suggest that thyroid hormone levels are not significantly associated with stunting severity in children with β-thalassemia major, highlighting the multifactorial nature of growth impairment and the need for further investigation to support targeted intervention strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of local wisdom values embodied in the song Damar Asih Caruban Nagari, also known as the Gunung Jati song, as a representation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Caruban Nagari (Cirebon) community. The study aims to explore the meanings embedded in the song and to analyze how its local wisdom values have been transmitted and implemented within the socio-cultural life of the Cirebon community. Employing a qualitative research approach, data were collected through interviews and document analysis and subsequently analyzed using an interpretive framework. The findings reveal that Damar Asih Caruban Nagari embodies four interconnected dimensions of local wisdom: cultural, moral, religious, and social values. The song contains ethical guidance and authentic Islamic teachings inherited from ancestors and Islamic saints (Wali) of Caruban Nagari, reflecting a harmonious integration of Islamic principles with indigenous cultural traditions. These values continue to function as moral and spiritual guidance for the community while reinforcing collective cultural identity. Consequently, Damar Asih Caruban Nagari represents not only a musical composition but also an enduring symbol of Cirebon's cultural and spiritual heritage, demonstrating the dynamic transformation and continuity of local wisdom across generations.

Abstract

Integrating safe cultural practices with evidence-based midwifery care is a promising strategy for improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes while maintaining community acceptance and clinical safety. This systematic literature review, guided by PRISMA 2020 and the PICOS framework, searched Scopus, PubMed, and Science Direct screening 4,523 articles, resulting in 20 articles that met inclusion criteria that met inclusion criteria for narrative-thematic synthesis, drawing on qualitative research, mixed-methods studies, implementation research, program evaluations, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Findings show that combining local wisdom with evidence-based midwifery improves access to maternal health services, patient satisfaction, continuity of care, quality of care, and referral outcomes. Implementation models such as Birthing on Country, Indigenous Midwifery, Ngarrama Maternity Service, midwife–traditional birth attendant partnerships, and Respectful Maternity Care strengthened community trust and service acceptance, with success depending on providers' cultural competence, community engagement, supportive policy, functioning referral systems, and cross-sector collaboration, while limited regulation, resource constraints, and stigma toward traditional practices remained key barriers. The study concludes that integrating local wisdom into evidence-based midwifery enables woman-centered, culturally responsive care without compromising safety, calling for stronger policy support, provider training in cultural competence, and deeper partnership with local communities.
