Abstract

In Indonesia, various factors have been considered in the decision to relocate the National Capital City (Ibu Kota Negara/IKN). These include social, economic, political, cultural, defense and security considerations, as well as vulnerability to natural disasters. Socio-economic and demographic disparities have become one of the main driving forces behind the plan to relocate Indonesia’s capital. The relocation of the capital outside Java is intended to reduce the severe ecological burden currently borne by Jakarta, including overpopulation, traffic congestion, air pollution, and deteriorating water quality. However, relocating a capital city is not an easy undertaking because the capital serves as the primary center of social, economic, and political activities. Therefore, any miscalculation in the relocation process has the potential to create various social and developmental problems. This article aims to examine the impact of the National Capital relocation on social security from the perspective of the Nitisastra text. The study focuses on the implications of the relocation for communities in both the former capital region and the new capital region. The research employs a qualitative method with a historical approach. Data were collected through an extensive review of books, academic journals, news articles, and other relevant literature concerning the relocation of the National Capital. The collected data were then classified according to their respective thematic discussions. The findings indicate that the relocation of the National Capital has the potential to serve as a solution to existing developmental challenges while simultaneously generating positive impacts on social security for communities in both the former capital region (DKI Jakarta) and the new capital region (East Kalimantan).

Abstract

Students' social behavior is one of the key indicators of the successful implementation of character education in schools. Amid the rapid development of globalization, advances in information technology, and changing patterns of social interaction, various challenges have emerged that contribute to the decline of discipline, responsibility, tolerance, social awareness, and ethical conduct among students. Hindu Religious Education plays a strategic role in instilling moral, spiritual, and social values derived from the teachings of dharma as the foundation for character development. Therefore, the internalization of Hindu religious values constitutes an essential process in shaping students' social behavior through classroom instruction, habituation, exemplary role modeling, and the cultivation of a positive school culture. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing Hindu religious values in shaping the social behavior of students at SMP Negeri 5 Sukawati, Gianyar Regency, to identify the factors that support and hinder this internalization process, and to describe its implications for students' social behavior. The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving the principal, Hindu Religious Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and students as research informants. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while triangulation techniques were employed to ensure data trustworthiness. The findings reveal that the internalization of Hindu religious values is implemented through the integration of religious values into classroom learning, religious activities, school cultural practices, teachers' exemplary behavior, and family involvement in character development. The values internalized include Tri Kaya Parisudha, Tat Twam Asi, Tri Hita Karana, Ahimsa, and Catur Guru, which are reflected in students' attitudes of mutual respect, discipline, responsibility, cooperation, social concern, and tolerance. The success of the internalization process is supported by the synergy among schools, families, and the community, while the main obstacles include the influence of social media, peer environments, and the lack of consistency in value reinforcement outside the school setting. This study concludes that the systematic and continuous internalization of Hindu religious values effectively fosters students' religious, humanistic, and character-oriented social behavior, thereby providing a viable model for strengthening character education based on Hindu values in the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Tri Hita Karana as a philosophical foundation for developing a multicultural community and to examine its implications for Hindu Religious Education in Piling Traditional Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency. The social life of Piling Traditional Village is characterized by religious and sociocultural diversity, requiring the cultivation of harmony, tolerance, mutual cooperation, and respect for differences. In this context, Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes harmonious relationships between humans and God (parhyangan), humans and fellow human beings (pawongan), and humans and the natural environment (palemahan), provides a relevant philosophical framework for fostering an inclusive and harmonious multicultural society. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretive research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving traditional leaders, religious leaders, community members, and stakeholders involved in Hindu Religious Education. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and philosophical interpretation of the community's social and religious practices. The findings indicate that the implementation of Tri Hita Karana in Piling Traditional Village is not limited to Hindu religious activities but is also manifested in patterns of social interaction, mutual cooperation, respect for religious differences, environmental awareness, and community participation in various social activities. The pawongan dimension plays a particularly significant role in fostering harmonious relationships among people of different religious backgrounds, while parhyangan and palemahan provide spiritual and ecological foundations for communal life. These practices have significant implications for Hindu Religious Education, particularly in developing learning processes that go beyond the transmission of religious knowledge toward the formation of tolerant, inclusive, humanistic, ecological, and pluralism-oriented character. Therefore, Tri Hita Karana can be reconstructed as a contextual and multicultural paradigm for Hindu Religious Education, in which religious values are not confined to the doctrinal domain but are transformed into lived.
