Abstract

Luke 17,11-19 is one of the episodes about the Samaritan in the Gospel of Luke. In this episode, the existence of verses 16b-18 is very interesting. In terms of plot, their presence can be eliminated. Without them, the plot remains coherent and even all its stages are fulfilled. The aim of this study is to describe their function in the stories about the Samaritan in the Gospel of Luke. In terms of function, their presence is very important. The significance of these verses is contained in the two ethnic identities, namely the Samaritan and the foreigner, which are used for the man who returns to Jesus after his healing. These two identities were mentioned when Jesus compared him to others who did not appear before him even though they had been healed. The use of these terms in this comparative framework, on the one hand wants to express Jesus' positive perception of the Samaritans and on the other hand depicts his criticism of the negative perspective of the Jews regarding the Samaritans.

Abstract

Religious tolerance in De Britto High School, Yogyakarta has been developed through curricular and cultural approaches. Religiosity education as a model of religious education in De Britto High School is considered as curriculum approach for tolerance. This approach is supported by several interreligious activities for tolerance conducted by Campus Ministry, such as, interreligious live-in and visiting religious communities. As a Catholic school, De Britto is deeply influenced by Catholic values. This is show in their visions and missions, activities and teachers. One of the interesting facts is that both of the religiosity education teachers are Catholics which certainly influence the way of understanding tolerance. This research aims at describing how students at De Britto High School perceive and understands religious tolerance. To collect the data, researcher employs on observation, interview and Focus Group Discussion. This research uses purposive sampling with some criteria to select informants, such as, Catholic students of class XII, who are active in learning process, and have a broad and open perspective. Based on the data analysis, researcher found three themes. First, tolerance is understood dynamically as both active and passive. Passive tolerance is understood as non-interference tolerance where people are staying in their ghettos. Meanwhile, active tolerance refers to collaboration for common good. Second, tolerance is part of Catholic education influenced by Jesuit perspective which has been the main vision in De Britto High School as a Jesuit school in Yogyakarta. Third, tolerance is part of interreligious dialogue.

Abstract

This article explores the need for the Indonesian youth to develop authentic inner leadership characteristics that can guide them in navigating the unpredictable and challenging future. The author observes that the current technological advancements that have led to the emergence of an intelligent society focused on enhancing human dignity quality necessitate the development of strong leadership skills among the youth, who are society's present and future leaders 5.0. This article highlights six potential leadership traits: An awareness of technological progress, creativity and innovation, openness to diversity, respect for teamwork and collaboration, enthusiasm for learning and new knowledge, and an appreciation of the importance of ethics and integrity. The author used a qualitative research method and collected data from high school students in Java and Sumatra Islands of Indonesia using Google Forms. The study reveals that attaining effective leadership in the Society 5.0 era requires the Indonesian young generation to cultivate three essential life skills, including independent learning experiences, building global networks, and maintaining a continuous learning process. Practical leadership skills will help them navigate these challenges and emerge as successful leaders in the Society 5.0 era. In conclusion, the article highlights the importance of cultivating authentic inner leadership skills among the Indonesian youth to prepare them for future challenges. The traits identified in the study, including creativity, teamwork, and collaboration, are essential in ensuring that the young generation becomes influential leaders in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the definition of Bina Iman Anak Katolik Supervisor, the code of ethics established by the Children's Commission of the Diocese of Surabaya, and its implementation in the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Mojorejo. Qualitative research methods were employed, with seven Bina Iman Anak Katolik coaches as informants. The findings reveal that Bina Iman Anak Katolik coaches grasp the code of ethics outlined by the Surabaya Diocese Children's Commission and perceive it as a standard for their training. The code has been effectively implemented, focusing on eight key points: accompanying children during activities, aiding them in liturgical matters, supporting them technically with families and colleagues, integrating them with the community, addressing potential issues, guiding them under leadership, and attending to individual needs.

Abstract

Youth bulge and demographic dividend have been a two-in-one topic of discussion in government and industrial milieus in Asia generally, and in Indonesia particularly. Education is believed as a strategic way to make youth bulge to be demographic dividend. Education prepares young people to get proper jobs so they can increase income for their families thus increase per capita income figure. Unfortunately, education has been occupied to meet only the market demands. Education has turned into business; schools and universities have become the instruments to spread the ideology of capitalism. Intervening formal education becomes a must for the Catholic Church to do according to her own teachings. This literature study is conducted to recall the Church’s intent regarding education and to propose Catholic social teachings and their values as the content of education that the Church have to strive for. The exploration will be described in three parts: the reasons the Church needs to intervene formal education, the Church’s vision on young people, and the urgency of Catholic social teachings for the life of society today thus to integrate the teachings into education that forms young Catholics as social agents to be.

Abstract

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer Fellowship is a movement that encourages a more profound Christian faith experience within the Indonesian Catholic Church. Despite the hierarchy's support, concerns have been raised regarding this movement's theological alignment and prayer practices with traditional Catholic teachings. This research aims to investigate the Youth Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer Fellowship of St. Maria-Tangerang Parish, focusing on their spiritual foundation and efforts to align with Catholic traditions. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method, this study relies on interviews and direct observations conducted with the administrators and members of the Youth Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer Fellowship. The findings indicate that the group's prayer activities are rooted in the spirit of The First Christian Church while maintaining consistency with Catholic traditions such as the Rosary Prayer. The analysis concludes that the biblical, theological, and traditional foundations of the Youth Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer Fellowship in the Tangerang Parish are Catholic teachings.

Abstract

Orang tua memiliki peran penting membentuk karakter anak. Permasalahan penelitian ini yaitu adanya orang tua yang kurang memahami tentang pentingnya pembentukan karakter anak dan adanya anak yang tidak memiliki karakter baik seperti bertutur kata kurang sopan, kurangnya rasa peduli, tidak jujur terhadap orang tua dan kurangnya rasa hormat pada yang lebih tua. Pertanyaan penelitian ini ialah bagaimana peran orang tua dalam pembentukan karakter anak di Komunitas Basis Gerejani (KBG) Santa Teresia Paroki Santo Petrus Colol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana peran orang tua dalam pembentukan karakter anak di KBG Santa Teresia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara terhadap 8 orang tua dan ketua KBG Santa Teresia. Data wawancara ini dianalisis menggunakan tiga langkah yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang tua berperan untuk membantu anak berpikir positif, berbuat baik, mampu bersaing, disiplin, taat aturan, sopan santun, memegang teguh nilai kemanusiaan, keagamaan, moral, sosial, dan nilai budaya, kritis dalam pergaulan dan penggunaan gadget, tegas, dan mandiri.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) learning model in improving student learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education at St. Yoseph Middle School, Medan. The study was conducted at St. Yoseph Middle School using a qualitative approach. A total of 10 informants, consisting of teachers, students, and educational staff, were selected as primary data sources. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with informants, and documentation of learning activities. The findings indicate that the application of the STAD model enhances student motivation, active participation in group discussions, and their understanding of Catholic religious teaching material. Interaction and collaboration within groups encourage students to express their opinions more confidently and assist each other in comprehending the material. However, challenges such as differing levels of understanding among group members can be addressed through teacher guidance. This research demonstrates that the STAD learning model is effective in creating an interactive learning environment and improving students' learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education.

Abstract

This research began with the author's concern about the increasing erosion of values in the Dayak Gawai tradition. Gawai is only seen as a festival event that only contains fun. This causes a shift in meaning as a form of expression of gratitude and building an attitude of solidarity. This research study is a cultural study in relation to Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhortation in the Querida Amazonia Document. The method used in the research is a qualitative method, the technique used to obtain data is interviews. The results of the interview were then linked to points related to Querida Amzonia's values. The research results show that there is no conflict between culture and the Catholic faith. The author realizes that this paper has many shortcomings, for example the data mining method which only uses three informants and the rigid analysis technique of interview results. So the next suggestion for the author is to increase the number of informants and look at the application of gadgets to several Dayak ethnic groups as a comparison.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of young Catholics towards pastoral care as a means to realize faith. Using quantitative methods, data were collected from 54 respondents in the Santa Maria Parish, Blitar. The results showed that the majority of respondents understood pastoral care as a form of pastoral mission in meeting the needs of the congregation and playing an important role in developing faith. Additionally, the research identified key factors influencing young people's engagement in pastoral activities, including theological understanding, personal experiences, and community support. The findings highlight the significance of adapting pastoral approaches to resonate with the values and expectations of the youth. This study is expected to provide insight for the church in facing modern challenges and increasing the involvement of young people in church life, ultimately fostering a more vibrant and active faith community.
