Abstract

Multiple intelligence theory is proposed and developed by Howard Gardner. He defined intelligence as a capability in problem resolving and providing a product in varied setting and real situation. This multiple intelligence concept is related to attractive learning. The word ?attractive? has interesting meaning by which besides to attract and provide fun, it also provides creativity and motivates students to play while learning in which this conforms to the main principle of education in kindergarten. There are considerations which must be taken into account by the teacher in implementing attractive learning integrated with multiple intelligence on PAUD (early-aged children education), they are the impact of multiple intelligence on learning method or approach being used class management or setting and the evaluation of learning process. Principally teacher does not only provide lectures but also use problem solving approach adjusted with the student's capability in multiple intelligence theory.

Abstract

One of the problem faced by Indonesia is educational quality in every of schooling level. Educational quality in school is related with teacher because teacher is the primary factor in learning process. Therefore it is necessarily an effort to improve teacher professionalism in school. The effort to improve teacher professionalism is conducted through recruitment for the candidates through LPTK, knowledge improvement and teacher capability with advanced study or education and training and also learning quality improvement through teaching supervision by principle/school supervisor. To improve educational quality can be started from school using MPMBS concept. Indicator of educational quality one among the others is educational management system factor in which including professional educator training system.

Abstract

Learning Gifted and Talented (Gifted and Talented) at Muhammadiyah Elementary School Special Program. Special Education Studies Program, Department of Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Surakarta Eleven March. The purpose of this study is to know the implementation of teaching gifted children in elementary school in Surakarta Muhammadiyah Special Programs. Subjects were all students 5 th grade Special Programs Surakarta Muhammadiyah school year 2009/2010. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used by triangulation by performing kros - check on the results of observation, interviews and documentation with an interactive model. The study concluded that: (1) the implementation of teaching in primary schools together with the Special Programme Muhammadiyah elementary school in general, (2) There are significant differences in the way of learning that can be seen from the existence of extra time, materials, learning resources which are many, varied learning methods, and the teacher field of study, (3) The emphasis of service delivery enrichment, acceleration and grouping.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find the answer to the following problems: (1) How far can the students understand and apply examination requirements of statistic analysis?; (2) How far can the students understand and apply the statistical analysis in hypothetical examination?; and (3) Is there any significant relationship between understanding and application of examination requirements with statistical analysis in hypothetical examination? The result of the analysis shows that (1) The students' understanding on the application of statistical analysis requirement shows a sufficient result with average of 66.36, standing in classification 60  73; (2) The students' understanding in applying statistical analysis can be stated to be sufficient with average score of 60. 67, so it stands in classification 60  73; and (3) The relationship between students' understanding on the application of examination requirements and students' understanding on the application of statistical analysis has coefficient of correlation of 0,36 with coefficient of determination of 0,131044. It means that the percentage of the influencing factors towards students? understanding on statistical analysis is 13 %, and the percentage of the other influencing factors, that are educational background and the material of Statistic, and Science,  is  87%.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) to find out whether or not Cooperative Learning methods improve students' English proficiency to score higher in TOEIC; (2) to know the students' interest toward the TOEIC class; and (3) to describe the students' activity during the TOEIC class. The method used in this research is a classroom action research done collaboratively with the English teacher, conducted in two cycles from August 28th until October 28th 2010 at the twelfth grade of SMK Negeri 1 Wonogiri by applying Think-Pair-Share (TPS) and Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) methods. Data were collected through observation, questionnaire, and test. The data were analyzed by using FLINT system, Comprehensive and Individual Analysis, and mean statistical formula. Result shows that students' TOEIC score improves. It is also found that students became more interested in TOEIC class. Students' activity also improves. It can be concluded that Cooperative Learning can (1) improve students' TOEIC score, (2) attract the students to join TOEIC class, and (3) push the students to actively participate in the class.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to evaluate the implementation of KTSP curriculum at Elementary school in Kebumen, Central Java province. The significance of the implementation of curriculum is (1) usefulness, (2) Normative Appropriateness, and (3) the accuracy of implementation. The indicators of significance can be elaborated as follows: (1) the synergy of collegial model to construct KTSP curriculum, (2) KTSP curriculum prototype for elementary school, (3) teacher's syllabus prototype, (4) the implementation mechanism to construct, (5) the appropriateness of KTSP curriculum prototype for the school. (6) The appropriateness of syllabus for class, (7) the usefulness of KTSP for school development. The subjects of this study were 13 from 56 elementary schools throughout Kebumen sub districts of Kebumen district, Central Java Province. Checklist, Questionnaires, interview, and observation were used to collect the data. The findings show that: (1) the synergy of collegial model to construct KTSP is at the enough score, namely 62,5%, but the synergy is only ceremonial activity, (2)There are 66,6% of prototypes of KTSP curriculum are constructed in the elementary schools, but they are, (3) the teachers construct 100%  of the syllabus but the prototypes are similar to the sample given or only in a copy-paste way, (4) 65,5% of  the elementary schools imple-ment the mechanism, (5) 83,3% of KTSP curriculum prototypes are appropriate for the schools, (6) the appropriateness of the  syllabus for  classes is 100%, (7) 53,5% of KTSP curriculum is useful for the school development. The findings show that the imple-mentation of KTSP curriculum is recommended along with the use of prototype of KTSP curriculum in the synergy of collegial model. However, in practice, there should be some improvement to encourage the teacher's competence to construct KTSP curriculum itself.

Abstract

This article is intended to describe the meaning and the importance of global education for elementary students, and the implementation of global education in social studies lessons for elementary school. Social Studies in elementary school concerned with people and their interaction with their social and physical environment. This idea suggests the necessity of social study instruction that requires young people to develop attitudes and skill that will allow them to adapt and construct the variety of new knowledge necessary to cope with a future that may be quite different from today's world. Global education recognized interdependence of people living in other places and cultures, and described classroom activities for helping learners increasing their sensitivity to perspectives of people in other places and cultures.

Abstract

Creativity has two components: the importance of creativity in their daily activities and beliefs of the importance of creativity in schools. It is clear that without the creativity of human beings can not enjoy the pleasure and meaning of life, and without creativity we do not have art, literature, science, innovation, problem solving, and progress. Developing creativity in class is the main and important factor. Creativity can be trained and taught to students. Teachers who train and teach creativity to students, teachers must also was a creator. Teachers who understand creativity can choose content, lesson plans, organize material, and appropriate tasks in a way to help students develop skills and attitudes necessary for creativity. To do this well, teachers need a strong foundation in research and theories about creativity and variety of teaching and management strategies for linking research and practice.  Parallel to the learning process of creativity. Students who use the content in creative ways, learning content properly. Students also learn strategies to identify problems, make decisions, and determine solutions in schools, and outside of school. Classes are organized to develop creativity into learning and wonderful place, that is, ?glad to know?. Next, discuss what, how, why creativity be taught and the link between creativity with motivation, and classroom organization, and the factors that affect creativity.

Abstract

The article discusses the implementation of fine arts education in Kindergarten, specifically in the free drawing study. It is proper if the learning and implementation activities in kindergarten refer to the philosophy and basic purpose determined in law. Teacher is demanded to know the development of their students who are developing accordance to their age (childhood). Teacher conducts learning activity in accordance to the schedule determined by particular strategy (motivation distribution), so the children may remain to express their selves as well as been expected before. In evaluating the children's work, teacher has to refer to the philosophy of free expression approach in that children expression is unique and natural and inside of the substances. There are not any ?true? and ?false? terms in expressing themselves in fine arts. The evaluation system is appreciative, that is accepting and appreciating what the children express or create by showing the possibility of the increase of the quality of the created work of art.

Abstract

Reading activity in education is very important, because it can provide a wide range of information and knowledge so that a person would have generous knowledge. In other word reading is the most inexpensive, effective, and efficient learning source. On the other hand, achieving competent reading ability is not easy to do. Based on that reason the writer tries to generalize the model of mind mapping learning in improving students' reading ability. The aim of this paper is to measure the students' reading achievement by implementing mind mapping learning model. The method of the research is descriptive and experimental method. The result of the research showed that the improvement of students' reading achievement on skimming skill by implementing mind mapping learning model is significant.
