Abstract

Nowadays, schools could not rely on the government contribution any more. Even though the government, Depdiknas in this case, recommended that the schools should develop themselves based on their capabilities through schoolbased management. In accordance with the recommendation above, projectbased learning is an alternative learning model for developing vocational education. The model can give the vocational education several benefits such as economical benefit, educational benefit and social benefit. Economical benefits can be used for developing the project as well the school. Educational benefits consist of knowledge, skill, the ability of interacting intelectually, emotionally and socially of the students. Students employed in the project can receive certain salary that can be used to support their life and educational needs. The leader of the school plays an important role to maintain the sustain ability of applying the model. He should develop networks concerning with relevant projects. The sustain ability of applying the model does not only depend on the role of the leader of the school but also depend on the calculation of the benefit economically and government policy. The learning model will be sustainable if the project is beneficial.

Abstract

Teaching and Learning Strategies course is a compulsory subject in the course Chemical Education Department of Mathematics and Science Education Guidance and Counseling UNS with weights 2 credits. As a high school chemistry teacher candidates take courses relefan stock and standard and suit the needs of stakeholders, should have a pedagogical competence, personal competence, social competence, and professional competence (Act No. 14 th 2005 chapter IV of chapter 8-10) . This research aims to improve the quality of the learning process in the course of Teaching and Learning Strategies using the constructivist approach through learning model Think-Pair-Share (TPS) in the activities of Lesson Study. The study included a descriptive study. Data collection was carried out with observations on the activities of lesson study and observation results are set forth in the form of descriptive. The experiment was conducted on students participating in the course of Teaching and Learning Strategies odd semester 2010/2011 academic year in the course Chemical Education Guidance and Counseling University PMIPA Eleven Maret Surakarta (UNS). Activities conducted open lessons three times, with three times three times the Plan and Do (Open Lesson). Each lesson conducted open-end reflection. The result of the implementation of lesson study on the subject of Teaching and Learning Strategies by applying the constructivist approach through learning model Think-Pair-Share (TPS) concluded that the application of constructivist approach through learning model Think-Pair-Share (TPS) in Lesson Study activities to improve the quality of the learning process on Teaching and Learning Strategies course, this can be seen that the achievement of the final cycle is obtained: indicators of student achievement in working on student worksheet is 100%, the results of assessment of students' task of preparing the paper with a value greater / equal to B is 100%, liveliness student increase is 17.6% completed the first indicator, second indicator 32.4% complete and 100% complete the seven indicators, student affective value increase that value is greater/equal to B is 100% (no value C). Application of cons-tructivist approach through learning model Think-Pair-Share (TPS) in Lesson Study activities to improve learning outcomes of Teaching and Learning Strategies that students who obtain a value greater/equal to 70 (B) otherwise complete as much as 76.4%. Based on responses to questionnaires filled out by students learning at the end of learning, shows that the learning model used by researchers, received a positive response, so that students want lecturers to implement active learning in the classroom.

Abstract

Related to the teaching and learning of IPS, the aim of this classroom action research is to improve: (1) the students' activities; (2) the students' motivation; and (3) the students' achievement. This research uses a spiral self-reflection model which consists of four steps: planning, action, observation, and reflection with two cycles. The research subject is the 38 students and the teacher of SD Negeri Tegalmulyo Kecamatan Laweyan Surakarta. The object is IPS subject matter taught in the Elementary School. The data were collected from result of writing test. The data are analyzed by using quantitative analysis. The results show that there is improvement of the students' mean scores from cycle 1 to cycle 2, based on the following aspects: (1) 36 % improvement on activities; (2) 17 % improvement on motivation; and (3) 12.3 % improvement on achievement.

Abstract

This article aims at describing: (1) the way how to develop syllabus of Indonesian as general subject, (2) the form of Indonesian syllabus, (3) problems arising in the implementation of Indonesian syllabus. Having scrutinized the relevant theories and empirical experiences, it was found some thoughts as follows. First the syllabus can be developed through five stages: (1) surveying the need, (2) itemizing the objectives, (3) selecting the type of syllabus, (4) preparing proto syllabus, and (5) preparing pedagogical aspect. Second, syllabus is arranged in terms of: the name of subject, the code of subject, semester, SKS, the group of subject, rational, competency, material, learning media, evaluation, and learning resources. This syllabus was focused on the ability of using language items in language activities both in oral and written. It was composed according to teaching learning activities and the order of the material. Learning achievement was directed to process, product, and content orientation quantitatively and qualitatively. The order of learning activities was developed from simple items to complicated items. Third, the competence observed was the ability of using Indonesian in written or spoken in terms of grammar, sociolinguistics, and strategy. The test items were in the form of assignments which are expressive productive in various contexts. Those assignments discussed the usage of Indonesian in real daily life.

Abstract

This article presents a class action research in the subject of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) at the SMK Murni Surakarta. This research aim is improving student ability to create correct CNC program for mill machine. It is found that last class students performed not quite well in this subject. They had difficulty to create CNC mill program logically. Actually, the students possessed appropriate knowledge to imagine the cutting tool movement from subjects related to conventional machine operation However, students were not able to construct that knowledge to develop CNC codes properly. Therefore this research analyzed possibility to implement learning strategy based on constructivism approach that is generative learning strategy. This strategy is directed to ask students to generate their past knowledge with the result that they can understand what their learned on their ways. There were two cycles conducted during the action research, every cycle was consisted of four phases: planning, action, evaluation and reflection phase. At the first phase of 1st cycle, the teacher prepare teaching plan, course material and assessment instrument. Then, the teacher identified initial knowledge and motivation of students to plan the actions by means of question-naire and pre requisite subject score. The first cycle action is focused on tool movement on coordinate form. The evaluation on this cycle showed that students were able to create knowledge from information they have known and they were capable to determine tool direction. Based on this result, in the second cycle the students were asked to create engineering drawing on the millimeter book together with the tool direction. After that, they simulated it by means of Cutviewer mill. There was an increasing in percentage of students do@ the task correctly (74,3%). It shows that generative learning strategy could be an alternative to reduce students' difficulty in CNC programming learning.

Abstract

This research is aimed at knowing the effectiveness of the implementation of inclusion program through the implementation of classroom teacher, visiting teacher, and counseling teacher program in public elementary school. The research was conducted at public elementary schools. The result of the research shows that the most effective model for implementing inclusion program in public elementary school is model 2, that is by implementing counseling teacher program (88.8%), followed by the implementation of visiting teacher program (66.6%) and the least is the implementation of classroom teacher program (33.3%).

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the influence of constructivism learning on: (1) the increase in concept understanding, and (2) the increase in science process skill of PGSD students. The research method applied was classroom action research. The research is conducted in three cycles and each cycle comprises planning, action imple-mentation, observation, and reflecting/evaluation. The subject of this research is the third semester of PGSD students of FKIP UNS, consisting of 42 students. The length of the research is six months from July to December 2008. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that constructivism learning can increase the third semester students of PGSD dealing with (1) science concepts understanding and (2) science process skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) what constraints in microteaching lessons are faced by the students of Education Study Program at Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta; and (2) what alternative solutions in overcoming the obstacles, so that students can join the microteaching lessons well. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach, with purposive sampling technique. Data sources include informants, place/event and archive/document.  The data are collected by in-depth interview techniques, direct observation, and content analysis. The content ?analysis is done by the technique of interactive models. Based on the result analysis, it can be concluded that the practice of microteaching is absolutely important to be given to the students as potential educators in the future. Due to the lack of facilities and infra-structures, and to maximize learning activities, it is important for the institution to give special space for the ideal microteaching room, to provide the adequate supporting facilities, and to improve the tutors' competence. Another constraint is that the students who take courses on learning component generally did not master the practical material such as how to draw on the blackboard. In addition, some students are less self-confident in the training. It can be solved by taking a great number of good training materials for teaching theory and practice.

Abstract

A Project Based Learning (PBL) is a method in modern learning using different concepts from the conventional learning. PBL concepts are emphasized on cycles of learning process. They consist of planning, action, field observation, evaluation, and reflection. PBL needs the participation of teacher to be facilitator, advisor, and as colleagues not to be an expert. PBL will ensure the student active in learning, increase student's motivation, give the solution about the problem, and finish the field problems according to the competence of the student with certain progress. The advantage of teaching learning process using PBL is increasing student?s knowledge in industry.

Abstract

The purpose of research is to increase the agrarian affairs history learning process quality through the group investigation model application within study and learning process in history education FKIP UNS. The research is accomplished with the method of classroom action research. It contains the actions that aimed to improve the quality a system and the practical within that system, In this research, the system is study and agrarian affairs history study and learning process that accomplished at semester IV in study program of history education P.IPS FKIP - UNS that addressed in J1. Ir. Sutami number 36 A Surakarta. The subject of research is the history education study program students who join agrarian affairs history subject. Meanwhile, the object is the activity of study and learning process that consists: activity of learning by the lecturer, activity of student's study and the learning atmosphere. The research is implemented with participative collaborative approach among the support lecturer (the chairman of research), associate lecturer (the member of research), and students so that will be sharing in each activity phase. This research has the reflective character, that intend to improve rational stability of the actions that done. The research is implemented with the process of in stages research. It consists of four activity phases that are action plan, implementation, and reflection. This research is implemented within two cycles. Cycle I is as an action implementation, and cycle I1 is as betterment. Appropriate with the purposes, the low of learning process quality becomes the problem of this research. This matter signed by the low of ability to make learning process implementation plan, learning process procedure and the students study activity. To increase the learning process quality, the researcher did many actions that are: investment the  right concept about the effectiveness of history learning process, training of learning process implementation plan arrangement, and peer teaching that intend to increase the lecturer ability within implement the learning process procedure. It related with group investigation model implementation. After the actions accomplished, and the result can be implemented in study and learning process. It approved from a cycle to the next cycle. Then the quality of learning process is more and more. This matter reflected from: the increase of ability within arrange the learning process implementation plan, and the ability in implement the learning process procedure. The increase of learning process quality impact to the increase the students study activity and the betterment of learning process atmosphere.
