Abstract

Hang Nadim, located in Batam City, Riau Island Regency, is one of Indonesia's international airports. Due to its size and reputation as an international airport, Hang Nadim Airport has a policy that restricts access to each sector. The use and assignment of airport PAS cards are typically subject to restrictions for airport staff. The airport region is off-limits to cargo workers, airline employees, shopkeepers, and renters. The state is in charge of ensuring airport safety and security in order to protect travelers. Without authorization from the airport, it is forbidden for anybody to be in specific areas of the airport, erect impediments, or engage in any other activity that could jeopardize flight security and safety

Abstract

PT Caterpillar Indonesia Batam, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., faces challenges in the painting process of the 6020-excavator chassis, characterized by a high rejection rate and prolonged waiting time between the painting and assembly departments. This study aims to identify the root causes of defects in the painting process and propose solutions to minimize product rejection and improve production flow. The analysis utilizes a fishbone diagram, covering factors related to manpower, methods, machines, and materials. The findings indicate that the primary causes of defects include inexperienced operators, incorrect sanding techniques, damaged spray guns, clogged pump sprayers, and improper material mixing. To address these issues, several improvements are proposed, including regular operator training, refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs), preventive maintenance for painting equipment, and better raw material preparation. The Value Stream Mapping analysis reveals a lead time reduction of 3,000 seconds, from 72,360 to 69,360 seconds, leading to an increase in process cycle efficiency from 75.8% to 79.1%. These improvements enhance production flow, reduce waste, and optimize the overall painting process.

Abstract

The rapid development of education demands high-quality, competent, and competitive human resources. The community in Batam City supports this by initiating activities such as abacus lessons (sempoa), which enhance children's arithmetic skills, logical thinking, concentration, and memory. In education management, school administration plays a vital role in improving services and performance. With technological advancements, administrative processes have shifted from manual methods to digital solutions, such as Excel-based and web-based applications. Web-based systems, in particular, enable efficient, integrated, and accurate data management, supporting a more modern and effective school administration system.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an artificial intelligence-based expert system to help diagnose skin diseases. This system is designed to help users, especially the general public, identify the type of skin disease based on the symptoms they experience. By collecting data from dermatologists and medical literature, this system is built using the forward chaining method. The system's knowledge base contains rules that link symptoms to certain skin diseases. System testing shows high accuracy in diagnosing various types of skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema, and fungal infections. With this expert system, it is expected to increase public access to skin health information and help early detection of skin diseases.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of face recognition technology offers potential solutions for inefficient manual attendance systems, such as the one at SMK Tunas Muda Berkarya Vocational School, which relies on time-consuming, error-prone methods. This study aimed to design and implement an automated attendance system using face recognition to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Employing Python, OpenCV, and the Eigenface method with Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the system integrated Viola-Jones algorithm for face detection and Haar-like features for training. UML diagrams guided the design, while Black Box Testing validated functionality. Results demonstrated successful implementation with 15 students, achieving efficient real-time attendance recording and reduced processing time. However, accuracy depended on optimal lighting and frontal face positioning. The conclusion affirms the Eigenface method’s effectiveness in automating attendance, significantly improving over manual systems. Future recommendations include optimizing environmental adaptability, integrating mobile platforms, and enhancing user interaction features for broader applicability. This research underscores the viability of biometric systems in educational institutional management.

Abstract

IoT (Internet of Things) is a concept that utilizes the internet network to connect various devices into a machine and allows these devices to operate automatically by collecting data in real time. body accurately and quickly. The heart works as a blood pumping device and is a very fatal organ if it does not work properly. This condition is a heart disorder which involves a delay in blood supply to the heart muscles because the blood vessels are blocked and the heart becomes abnormal. Heart problems or abnormal functioning of the heart can result in a 50% death rate. However, some people have difficulty reaching hospitals because they live in rural areas. Thus, it is hoped that today's advanced technology can help make the work of nurses easier and can help the medical field work in diagnosing patients quickly and precisely, and can be reached by all people, such as health monitoring tools based on body temperature. This tool can diagnose normal or abnormal heart conditions based on detection sensors connected to the device using network media and uses Android as a platform that provides an intuitive interface so that it can be adjusted to the needs or desires of a client or researcher. In this way, a Prototype tool is created, which is an initial design model for a design before increasing product sales.

Abstract

This study aims to create an Indonesian-Javanese dictionary web based application using the Sequential Search algorithm. The application is designed to help younger generations understand the Javanese language, including its hierarchical speech levels (unggah-ungguh), which are becoming less commonly used, particularly in multicultural cities like Batam. The Sequential Search algorithm is implemented to simplify word searches sequentially. The application is developed using PHP, the Laravel framework, and PostgreSQL database, covering 1,500 basic vocabularies. The interface is designed to be simple, allowing users to perform two-way translations between Indonesian and Javanese quickly. Testing results show that the application can provide accurate translations and offer suggestions for words not found. With these features, the application is expected to serve as an efficient Javanese language learning tool while preserving Javanese cultural values among younger generations. Abstract

UKM Kerupuk Latansa in Batam faces various challenges in its production process, including disorganized tool and material placement, a suboptimal working environment, and inefficient production time. These issues potentially lower productivity and product quality. This study applies the 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) to improve production efficiency and workplace organization. A quantitative approach was used, collecting data through direct observations, interviews, and work time measurements. The results show that after implementing 5S, the average cycle time decreased from 15.37 seconds to 13.82 seconds, and production output increased from 2,250 to 2,500 packs per month. In the Seiri stage, unnecessary items were removed from the workspace to create a cleaner and more comfortable working environment. Seiton was implemented by organizing production tools, such as impulse sealers, for easier access. Seiso involved routine cleaning of the workspace and equipment to prevent packaging defects. Seiketsu ensured standardized procedures for workplace cleanliness and organization. Finally, Shitsuke established a culture of discipline in maintaining cleanliness and order, with regular evaluations to sustain the 5S implementation. With a cleaner and more organized environment, employee comfort and productivity significantly improved.

Abstract

Overstock and delays in fulfilling requests for spare parts at Hyundai Nagoya can occur due to ineffective stock management. The objective of this research is to develop a web-based platform warehousing system that increases the efficiency of goods rotation using the First In First Out (FIFO) method. In addition, the Random Forest algorithm is used to categorize components according to goods movement patterns. The movement patterns of goods are divided into three categories: fast moving, medium moving and slow moving categories. The data analysed includes order history, frequency of use, and stock of goods for the last six months. By implementing a web-based system, real-time stock monitoring and order recommendations based on historical demand patterns can be made. The study's findings demonstrate that the FIFO approach effectively lowers the chance of old products piling up, increasing recording accuracy, and speeding up spare parts distribution. With a classification model accuracy of 75%, this method can improve warehouse management and help make more accurate decisions. In conclusion, the FIFO method can be used in a web-based warehousing system to optimize spare parts stock management at Hyundai Nagoya.
