Abstract

Continuity of Care (COC) in midwifery involves comprehensive care from pregnancy to postpartum and family planning to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates (MMR 4.6% and IMR 13.49%). This case study examines the midwifery care of Mrs. F, a 29-year-old multipara at 40 weeks gestation, at Klinik Rahman Rahim II from August 14, 2023, to October 14, 2023. The study used observational methods and found no complications or discrepancies from standard practices during prenatal visits, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care. Mrs. F successfully used a three-month contraceptive injection without side effects. The study underscores the importance of continuous midwifery care to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Highlight: Continous care reduces meternal and infant morality rates No complications observed with standard midwifery practices Effective family planning improves maternal health outcomes Keyword: Continuity of Care, Midwifery, Maternal Health, Infant Health, Family Planning

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of storage time (0, 4, 8, and 24 hours) at 2-8°C on urea and creatinine levels in serum samples from healthy young adults. Using a laboratory experimental design, 32 serum samples were analyzed with enzymatic and Jaffe-kinetic methods on a Microlab 300 photometer. Results from One Way ANOVA indicated significant effects on urea (p=0.007) and creatinine levels (p=0.009) across different storage times, with Post-Hoc tests revealing significant differences between the 0-hour and 24-hour storage groups for both biomarkers. These findings highlight the importance of standardized storage protocols in clinical laboratories to ensure accurate kidney function assessment and improve diagnostic reliability. Highlights: Storage Conditions Influence Biomarker Levels: Temperature and time affect urea and creatinine. Experimental Setup: Controlled lab study on serum samples with varying storage durations. Clinical Importance: Standard protocols ensure accurate kidney function assessment in diagnostics.. Keywords: kidney function, serum biomarkers, storage conditions, clinical laboratories, diagnostic reliability

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of acupressure and simple eucalyptus oil inhalation in reducing cold and cough severity among toddlers under five years old in Indonesia, where respiratory infections account for a significant portion of childhood mortality. Conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach, the research involved 33 toddlers from Jenisgelaran Village, Bareng, Jombang, randomly assigned to control, acupressure-only, and combined treatment groups. Data collected through observation sheets and the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) classification showed significant improvements in symptom severity in the combined treatment group (P = 0.01), while One Way ANOVA results indicated no overall significant effect (P = 0.06) across groups. These findings suggest potential benefits of combined therapy but highlight the need for standardized eucalyptus oil types and clearer treatment protocols to enhance therapeutic outcomes in future studies aiming to alleviate respiratory symptoms in young children. Highlights: Quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest approach. Significant improvement in symptom severity in combined treatment group. Need for standardized eucalyptus oil types and clear treatment protocols for optimal therapeutic outcomes. Interventions included educating the mother on the physiological aspects of pregnancy and the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding, as well as implementing interpersonal therapy. These measures led to positive outcomes, with the mother beginning to care for her baby and seeking parenting information. The study underscores the importance of addressing socioeconomic factors in PPD and demonstrates the effectiveness of interpersonal therapy in improving maternal mental health. Highlights: Socioeconomic Impact: Low socioeconomic status increases postpartum depression risk. Therapeutic Success: Interpersonal therapy effectively manages postpartum depression. Holistic Approach: Combining psychological and socioeconomic support improves maternal mental health.
