Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the global education sector, forced educational institutions to transition from face-to-face to online learning. RA Hayatuddiniyah, an early childhood education institution in Hulu Sungai Utara, successfully implemented online assessments during the pandemic. This research aimed to analyze the online assessment format used at RA Hayatuddiniyah, focusing on the methods and factors that supported its implementation. The study employed a qualitative case study approach, with the participants including the school principal, teachers, and parents of the students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion techniques, with validity ensured through triangulation. The findings revealed that the online assessment at RA Hayatuddiniyah employed three main assessment methods: structured and unstructured conversations, students' work, and portfolio assessments. Supporting factors for successful online assessment included permission and support from the school principal, teachers’ ability to adapt to technological advancements, and adequate parental support. This study provides valuable insights into the challenges and success factors in online assessments in early childhood education and offers recommendations for improving future implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of human resource management (HRM) in improving the competencies of educators at Pondok Pesantren Imam Muslim, Sei Rampah District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Effective HRM is considered crucial to achieve quality educational objectives. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation conducted. The findings of the study show that HRM planning at this Islamic boarding school involves analyzing the needs for educators, strict selection, and development through structured training programs. HRM planning is carried out by mapping out existing tasks and workloads, which are then outlined in the Tupoksi (Job Description and Functions) to ensure that each educator is placed according to their competencies and capacity. This process also includes continuous cadre development, from students (santri) to becoming educators (ustadz). The implementation of HRM at Pondok Pesantren Imam Muslim shows success in the educator selection process, which considers academic achievement, morals, and dedication. However, challenges such as limited facilities and insufficient funding for more intensive training programs remain. Evaluation of educator performance is carried out periodically through weekly, mid-semester, and end-of-year evaluations. Overall, this study indicates that good HRM at Pondok Pesantren Imam Muslim can enhance educational quality and educator competence. Support from the headmaster and the caretaker of the pesantren, as well as the implementation of structured evaluation programs, play an essential role in maintaining the quality of education that continues to develop at this pesantren.

Abstract

Communication is not just about talking; it also involves life experiences, thought patterns, and imagination. Therefore, when teaching children with special needs, teachers employ different communication techniques. This research aims to explore the communication techniques used by teachers to enhance literacy in children with physical impairments, along with the supporting and inhibiting factors involved. This study employs a qualitative descriptive case study approach. The research subjects included homeroom teachers, special education (ABK) support teachers, and children with physical impairments at SDIT Al-Firdaus Banjarmasin. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the communication techniques used by teachers to enhance literacy include informative communication, persuasive communication, instructive communication, and human relations communication. The supporting factors for teacher communication in promoting literacy include internal aspects such as the teacher’s mood, intonation, and facial expressions. External supporting factors include children's intellectual abilities, responsiveness, ethics, and manners, as well as the availability of facilities and infrastructure. Inhibiting factors are categorized as internal, such as educational background, experience, and teacher training, and external, such as children's moods, health conditions, and the challenges of distance learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the challenges faced by Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) teachers in implementing online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic at MIN 8 Banjar. Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive method, this research explores various obstacles encountered during the online learning process, including limited access to technology, unstable internet connectivity, difficulties in supervising physical activities, and delays in assignment submissions. The findings show that teachers have made various efforts to address these issues, such as providing direct assignments to students without access to online devices and accepting late submissions. However, these challenges significantly affect the effectiveness of PJOK online learning. The study concludes that greater support in technological infrastructure and stronger collaboration among teachers, students, and parents are necessary to ensure the success of online learning, particularly for subjects that require physical activities, such as PJOK.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategy for instilling the value of disciplined character in fourth-grade students of MIS Nurul Hidayah Kota Raja during the Covid-19 pandemic. The background of this research is the importance of discipline in learning, especially during the pandemic when the teaching process had to be conducted online and offline. The research method used is a qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of this study were the head of the madrasa, fourth-grade teachers, and fourth-grade students of MIS Nurul Hidayah Kota Raja. The results showed that the strategy for instilling disciplined character values was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In planning, teachers developed plans to instill discipline through both online and offline learning. The implementation emphasized three main aspects: time discipline, social attitude discipline, and discipline in worship. Evaluation was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the strategies implemented. The main supporting factors were the role of parents and teachers, while the inhibiting factors included a lack of parental attention and difficulties for students to adapt to online learning.

Abstract

Soft skills play an important role in an individual's success, including for a teacher. Therefore, as prospective teachers, Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (PGMI) students should possess good soft skills starting from their time in university. The implementation of the Teaching Practice can serve as a platform for students to enhance their experience, awareness, and skills in the teaching field, and during this Teaching Practice, PGMI students' skills are maximally tested. This study aims to provide an overview and analyze the level of soft skills among PGMI students from the 2019 cohort at UIN Antasari who participated in the Teaching Practice during the 2021/2022 academic year, from July 18 to September 2, 2022. The research method used is a survey sampling method with a descriptive quantitative approach. The number of respondents in this study was 36. The results of the study show that the soft skills of PGMI students from the 2019 cohort consist of personality competencies (intrapersonal skills) and social competencies (interpersonal skills), which are generally categorized as moderate. The detailed categorization results of soft skills from the intrapersonal skills aspect are as follows: 14% of students fall into the high category, 67% fall into the moderate category, and 19% fall into the low category. Meanwhile, for the categorization of soft skills in the interpersonal skills aspect, 19% of students fall into the high category, 69% fall into the moderate category, and 11% fall into the low category. Several factors can influence the quality of an individual's soft skills, including organizational experience, leadership, lecturer competence, learning behavior, and learning motivation

Abstract

The research explores the challenges faced by teachers in preparing teaching modules for the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) at MI Siti Mariam. The teaching module is a crucial element in Kurikulum Merdeka, serving as a guide for teachers in carrying out learning activities. The study aims to identify the difficulties teachers encounter in creating teaching modules and the efforts they make to overcome these issues. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, involving class teachers at MI Siti Mariam as the subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion techniques. The research findings highlight several teacher challenges in module preparation: difficulties in analyzing teaching needs, identifying the Pancasila Student Profile dimensions, defining teaching components, irregular module creation, and lack of training. To address these problems, teachers downloaded digital textbooks, self-studied Pancasila profiles, improved their pedagogical competencies, and engaged in self-directed learning to enhance module preparation skills.

Abstract

This article discusses the concept of child development psychology as the basis of Islamic education. Child development psychology is a science that studies how children grow and develop physically, cognitively, linguistically, socially, and emotionally from conception to adulthood. A deep understanding of child development psychology is a very important foundation in Islamic education. So this study aims to explore the concept of child development psychology, analyze educational psychology in Islam, and collect data on child education from a psychological perspective. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, and the theory used includes the concept of child development psychology as the basis of Islamic education. This study emphasizes the importance of an educator understanding child development psychology because it is the key to creating an optimal learning environment for each child. By applying the principles of developmental psychology, educators can help children grow into whole, intelligent, and well-characterized individuals. The results of the study show that the concept of child development psychology has a very important role in Islamic education. By understanding how children grow and develop, educators can create a conducive learning environment to help children achieve their best potential, both intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of teachers' perceptions of school leadership and discipline on their performance at MTs Nurul Falah Batang Asai. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach, using questionnaires to gather data from 34 teachers. These questionnaires were designed to assess teachers' perceptions of school leadership and their level of discipline. The results reveal a significant positive relationship between teachers' perceptions of school leadership and their performance (rx1y = 0.335, t = 2.012, β = 0.164), indicating that a positive view of school leadership can lead to improved teacher performance. Similarly, there was a significant correlation between discipline and teacher performance (rx2y = 0.629, t = 0.164, β = 0.036), suggesting that teachers who maintain higher levels of discipline tend to perform better in their teaching roles. Additionally, the study found that the combined effect of leadership and discipline accounted for 18.8% of the variation in teacher performance. This significant contribution highlights the importance of addressing both leadership perceptions and discipline as key strategies for enhancing teacher effectiveness. The findings underscore that improving teachers’ perceptions of school leadership, alongside fostering a disciplined teaching environment, are crucial for the development of teacher performance. These results are in line with previous research, which emphasizes the role of effective leadership and disciplined work environments in optimizing teacher output. This research provides valuable insights for school administrators and policymakers in formulating strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Maqashid Syariah values into Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum as a framework for harmonizing national education with Islamic principles. By employing the five core dimensions of Maqashid Syariah, protection of religion, intellect, life, wealth, and progeny as evaluative lenses, this research analyzes the extent to which the current curriculum aligns with these foundational goals. Utilizing a descriptive-qualitative method with content analysis, findings indicate that although the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes holistic student development and independent learning, its alignment with Maqashid Syariah values remains largely untapped. The study affirms that adopting the Maqashid paradigm can enrich curriculum discourse and provide a contextualized direction for Islamic education in Indonesia.
