Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature is a journal devoted to the publication of original papers published by Melekliterasi press. It is a peer-reviewed and open access journal of humanity studies, including linguistics, literature, philosophy, psychology, law, education, communication science and cultural studies. Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature accept paper in English. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of Journal of Language Teaching Lingustics and Literature should obey the writing guidelines. Abstract

This study evaluates how well the Small Group Interaction technique helps improve students’ reading comprehension. It uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design involving 33 grade VII B students from SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kubu Raya. Before applying the technique, a pre-test assessed students’ initial comprehension levels. Data focused on key reading skills like identifying main ideas and drawing conclusions. After analyzing the results with SPSS and Excel, the average score expand from 56. 66 in the pre-test to 80. 06 in the post-test. Statistical tests confirmed a significant improvement, leading to the acceptance of the hypothesis that the technique is effective for teaching reading comprehension. This method is recommended to enhance students’ reading skills and teachers’ teaching abilities Penelitian ini mengkaji seberapa efektif teknik Interaksi Kelompok Kecil dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-test dan post-test satu kelompok yang melibatkan 33 siswa kelas VII B di SMP Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Kubu Raya. Sebelum menerapkan teknik tersebut, dilakukan pre-test untuk menilai tingkat pemahaman awal siswa. Data yang dianalisis lebih fokus pada keterampilan membaca utama seperti mengidentifikasi ide pokok dan menarik kesimpulan. Setelah menganalisis data menggunakan SPSS dan Excel, rata-rata skor meningkat dari 56,66 pada pre-test menjadi 80,06 pada post-test. Uji statistik membuktikan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan, yang mendukung penerimaan hipotesis bahwa teknik ini efektif dalam pengajaran pemahaman membaca. Metode ini direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa dan kemampuan mengajar para guru.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) in English Language Teaching (ELT) at SMP Muhammadiyah Tersono. The research aims to analyze how English teachers integrate P5 values into language instruction and to identify challenges and pedagogical implications. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving three English teachers. The data were analyzed thematically following Moustakas’ phenomenological procedures. The findings reveal that P5 values such as collaboration, creativity, and responsibility were effectively embedded through project-based learning activities focusing on local culture, environmental awareness, and entrepreneurship. Teachers applied contextual tasks that connected language learning with real-life situations, enhancing students’ engagement and character formation. However, the study also identified constraints related to limited instructional time, assessment integration, and teachers’ professional readiness. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of P5-based ELT implementation at the junior high school level, highlighting how national character education can synergize with communicative English teaching. The study contributes to the growing discourse on holistic and value-oriented language pedagogy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dan arus informasi yang begitu cepat seringkali tidak disertai dengan kesiapan masyarakat dalam menyaring nilai-nilai yang masuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai karakter dalam kumpulan cerpen Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy, dan mendeskripsikan relevansi nilai karakter dengan dimensi Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif.  Data penelitian berupa hasil kutipan kalimat yang mengandung nilai-nilai karakter dalam kumpulan cerpen Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan dan relevansinya. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerpen Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy dan dokumen terkait Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Teknik pengumpulan data studi pustaka, baca analitik, pencatatan sistematis. Teknik sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampel. Validitas data menggunakan trianggulasi sumber dan metode. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis isi dan teknik analisis dialektik dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Teknik digunakan untuk mengungkap hubungan antara unsur karya sastra dan realitas melalui telaah teks sastra secara berulang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) tujuh cerpen dalam kumpulan Enam Belas Warna Keikhlasan mengandung nilai-nilai karakter yaitu nilai religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokratis, rasa ingin tahu, semangat kebangsaan, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, bersahabat/komunikatif, cinta damai, gemar membaca, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial, dan tanggung jawab, 2) Nilai karakter dalam tujuh cerpen relevan dengan dimensi Profil Pelajar Pancasila yang terletak pada dimensi keimanan dan ketakwaan kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa dan berakhlak mulia, berkebhinekaan global, kemandirian, gotong royong, bernalar kritis dan kreatif.
