Abstract

Abstract Low birth weight infant is a newborn baby whose weight at birth less than 2500 gram regardless of gestational age. Low birth weight infant contributes to neonatal mortality as an indicator of a nation's community health status. World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010 reported a prevalence of low birth weight infant in the world in the period 2005-2010 is 15%. In Indonesia, the prevalence of low birth weight infant in 2013 is 10.2%. To determine the sociodemographic factors and pregnancy associated with low birth weight infant in RSIA Sri Ratu Medan in 2014 conducted the study with a population of 874 people and the sample totaled 106 data of mothers who gave birth in RSIA Sri Ratu Medan. This research is an analytic survey with cross sectional design was followed by univariate and bivariate analyzes. The results showed there are three variables that relate in the incidence of low birth weight is the work of women (p = 0.003), history of maternal disease (p = 0.032) and gestational age (p = 0.001). Other variables that maternal age (p = 0.084), spacing pregnancies (p = 0.628), parity (p = 0.398), maternal education (p = 0.074), and complications of pregnancy (p = 0.227) had no significant difference with  low birth weight infant.  The conclusion from this study that there is an employment relationship mother, maternal medical history, and gestational age with low birth weight infant in RSIA Sri Ratu Medan in 2014. No relation between  maternal age, parity, spacing pregnancies, maternal education and pregnancy complications with low birth weight infant in RSIA Sri Ratu Medan in 2014. Health workers are expected to provide counseling for pregnant women about the risks of low birth weight and impact caused by the LBW . For pregnant women are expected to plan properly pregnancy , especially in terms of age during pregnancy , reduced physical activity that can interfere with pregnancy , a routine check-up to prevent complications of the disease history has ever experienced , as well as maintain a healthy pregnancy so that pregnancy can achieve the right time. Abstract

Abstract Liver cirrhosis is one of the diseases that can be found throughout the countries. According to WHO (2008), Liver cirrhosis in the world was ranked as eighth leading caused of death with the death rate of 664.755 casses. In USA (2010), cronic liver disease and Liver cirrhosis had caused the number of death as many as 31.903. In Indonesian, the prevalence of Liver cirrhosis haven’t been found yet. The CFR of Liver cirrhosis in Santa Elisabet’s Hospital Medan in 2012-2014 was 10,6%. The aim of this study is to know the characteristics of patient with Liver cirrhosis which hospitalized at Santa Elisabet’s hospital Medan in 2012-2014. This study is adopted descriptive research with Case Series design. The population were 158 patients, with sample were 113 patients. Liver cirrhosis Patient with the highest proportions in the age group 50-59 years old (31,9%), male (62,8%), Batak tribe (79,6%), Protestant (69,9%), civil employee/retired civil employee (23%), living on suburb (71,7%), primary complaint with painful right top belly while visiting (38,1%), history of previous illness is Hepatitis B (17,7%), complicated status exiting (76,1%), ascites type of complication (57%), self cost source (93,8%), the length of average treatment 7,26 days, and coming home condition was by the willing of the patient (73,5%). There is a significant differences between the age poportion based on the type of complication (p=0,006), there is no significant differences between sex proportion based on the history of previous illness (p=0,666), there is no significant differences between the type of complication proportion based on the history of previous illness (p=0,339), there is no significant differences between sex proportion based on type of complication (p=0,347), there is no significant proportion difference between length of average treatment based on the type of complication (0,075), there is no significant difference between the type of complication based on condition while coming home (p=0,094). Recommended to the staff of the  Santa Elisabet’s hospital Medan to give conseling to the family of the patients  about the real condition of the patients, the risky factors of Liver cirrhosis and the preventions of Liver cirrhosis that can be done. Abstract

ABSTRACT HIV/AIDS is infectious disease that already became worldwide pandemic. According to ministry of health of Indonesia’s Republic, the number of cases of HIV/AIDS which has report from 1st January to 30th June 2014, about 15,534 HIV cases and 1,700 AIDS cases. This study is descriptive by using case series design. The population were 602 outpatients of HIV/AIDS in RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan in 2014. The sample size were 100 cases by using simple random sampling. The data analysis uses a secondary data by using Chi-Square and Fisher’s Exact. The results of this research  showed that the highest proportion of patient with HIV/AIDS was at the age 30-39 years old is male (33%) and female (18%), Batak (52%), High School (55%), private employee (52%), married (42%), outside Medan city (56%), heterosexual (80%),long time identified < 2 years (49%),long time consumes ARV 1-2 years (42%). According to the statistical test with Exact Fisher, there was  no significant differences between proportion of gender with risk factor (p=0,304) and job with risk factor (p=0,304). It is expected for PUSYANSUS VCT RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan to fulfilled patients data form in status card. Also to all the HIV/AIDS patients in PUSYANSUS VCT RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS by faithful with the partner and also consisstant to use birth control while having sex to avoid the transmission of HIV/AIDS and/ or STD to the healthy partner and also who are already infected of HIV/AIDS and/ or STD.   Keywords : HIV/AIDS, Characteristic, RSUP H. Abstract

Chili sauce and “saus gejrot” (spattered sauce) is a food processing product which popular among the students of USU (University of Sumatera Utara) because it is used in the students’ favorite snacks, grilled bakso (meat ball) and “tahu dangdut” (the name of a kind of tofu). Generally, the process of making the sauce added dyes and artificial sweeteners to get the maximum results with low production costs .          The research was a descriptive survey in order to find out whether or not there was coloring matter in chili sauce of grilled bakso and artificial sweetener in “saus gejrot” of “tahu dangdut” sold at USU in 2015 by conducting laboratory test qualitatively and quantitatively. The unit of analysis in this study are some of the chili sauce from 5 chili sauce used on grilled meatballs and some " saus gejrot " from 7 " saus gejrot " used to " tahu dangdut " in the USU 2015 . The result of the research showed that all samples got their license from the Department of Health through the PERMENKES RI No. 033/2012 on Food Additives. There are 4 of 5 portions the chili sauce were used artificial dyes with level that exceed the maximum limit used is 200 mg/kg. That is Tradisional chili sauce, Captain, Selera Kita and Sasa. The results of the examination 7 portions of “saus gejrot”, all of them used artificial sweetener, cyclamate with levels still below the maximum limit of use is 3 g/kg. Cyclamate levels are lowest for the “saus gejrot” sold at Pajus is 0,1328 g/kg and the highest levels of cyclamate sold at Pintu 1 is 0,2960 g/kg. It is recommended that the management of BPOM (Food and Drug Monitoring Agency), Medan, increase monitoring and supervision on the use of coloring matter and artificial sweetener in sauce products. The Health Service of Medan and the Health Service of North Sumatera should provide counseling for chili sauce and “saus gejrot” producers about impact the use of coloring matter and artificial sweetener as food additives. Abstract

The safety food for consumption basically is a meal which is processing with  concern on the principles of food hygiene and sanitation. If the food hygiene and sanitation come from bad food processing, so it will produce a source of disease transmission for those who consume and if health disfunction, it will eventually cause problems on nutritional status. The objective of this research is to describe the hygiene and sanitation of food processing, incidence of diarrhea and nutritional status of male prisoners aged 18-20 years in the Correctional Institution Class II A Children's Tanjung Gusta Medan 2015. This research was descriptive with the primary data were gathered by conducted interview/observation to food processing officers and prisoners, the while secondary data were gathered from the administration and the health care section Penitentiary Class II A Children's Tanjung Gusta Medan. The population includes 7 food processors officers and 135 prisoners. Samples were 7 food processing officers and 57 food prisoners. The results showed that the hygiene and sanitation of food processing in Correctional Institution Class II A Children's Tanjung Gusta were not good which is seen from the aspect of food handler officer, food processing place and supplies and equipment in food processing. Incidence of diarrhea in male prisoners aged 18-20 years in the last 1 month was 31 people (54.39%) from 57 samples. The nutritional status of prisoners based on the Body Mass Index (BMI) was showed that most of prisoners aged 18 years which is 5 people (55,56%) were included in thin category, 4 people (44,44%) were normal category and nothing is included  in the category of obese. Based on the results of the research, it is  suggested to officer to utilized more food processing facilities and also being informed about the importance of hygiene and sanitation in food processing. It is also needs to make an improvement of food processing  and complement the existing facilities to support hygiene and sanitation in food processing in place Penitentiary Class II A Children's Tanjung Gusta Medan. Abstract

Nutrition problem has been the main of health problem in Indonesia. In the globalization era, Indonesia faces a double nutrition problems, they are the problem of malnutrition and over nutrition. As a developing country, cases of malnutrition have long existed in Indonesia, but with diet changing, economic progress, and lack of nutritional knowledge has made the increasing number of overnutrition in Indonesia. In FKM USU, student having overnutrition because of diet, knowledge dan physical activity. The aim of the research was looking for the relation among knowledge, diet, physical activity, and overnutrition on students of FKM USU. The design of research used a cross sectional method for looking the relation knowledge, diet, and physical activity on the incidence of overnutrition students of the Public Health Faculty, University of North Sumatera. The population in this study is all students in semester 3 until 7 at FKM USU as many as 1978 people, with a sample of 108 people. Results of research by chi-square test showed that the variables diet consists of the types of food that seen from the completeness food and number of meals as seen from the adequacy of fat significantly to the incidence of obesity related and nutritional status, p = 0.001 <0.005 and physical activity with p = 0.001 <0.005. Factors related to the occurrence of nutrition in students of FKM USU  the diet that is the type of food which is viewed by the completeness and adequacy fat meal and physical activity. FKM is advisable for adding some lecture meterials and having some discussion about overnutrition to increase student warning about it. Keywords: Diet, Knowledge, Overnutrition, Physical Activity

Abstract

Smoking is one of the unhealthy behaviour that can be harmfull and very disturbing of ourself and others around us especially for those who vulnarable groups such as children under five years. Exposure to ciggarete’s smoke affect occurance of ISPA, there where children under five who exposure cigarete’s  smoke take a high risk than unexposure cigarete’s smoke. Children under five years who got suffering Infectious disease could affected intake nutritional cannot absorbed body well so the nutritional status decreased. The aim of this research to describe nutritional status and ISPA on those household as smoker family in Desa Padang Kecamatan Kotanopan. The type of this research is descriptive with cross setional design. Total sample are 40 childeren under five years who taken from smoker family. Data was collected by interviews and questionnaires. The result showed that, nutritional status based on weight for age children under five years in Desa Padang Bulan Kecamatana Kotanopan there are (70%)  good nutrition and (30%)  malnutrition. Nutritional status based on height for age there are (82,5%) good nutrition and (17,5%) malnutrition. Nutritional status based on weight for age there are (75%) good nutritioan and (22,5%) thin. The conlusion of this research was the higher consumption smoking’s family and increasingly frequent expose of ciggarete smoke children under five years so could affected of nutrional status and ISPA of children under five years. It is Expecting of this research to parent’s children under five years are decrease to consume of cigarete and do not smoking in the house so as reduce exposure among children under five years. Abstract

Diversification of food consumption is effort to stabilize consumption patterns to fit of Dietary Pattern Expectations. The purpose of this research is to determine behavior of farmers family in diversification of food consumption based on the characteristics of families in Baru Ladang Bambu District, Medan Tuntungan Subdistrict in 2015. This was a descriptive research with cross sectional study design. Population were a whole family of farmers in Baru Ladang Bambu District, Medan Tuntungan Subdistrict, sampling was done with the proportional random sampling were 63 farmers. Primary data were collected through interviews using a form of inventory method. The result showed that the diversification of food consumption majority of farm families with high category (≥6 food group), knowledge of the majority of the good category and the attitude of the majority of good category, while diversityfood consumption based on the characteristics of family farmers, land ownership is in the category of landless, education level housewife in junior high school category, income <Rp.2.037.000 and the number of family members ≤4 people. Based on the result of this research, expected to the subdistrict officer to make a cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and Food Security to further improve guidance to farm families with focus outreach efforts about diversification of food consumption. Abstract

Infants whose entering the age of 6-24 months need a complementary foods to fulfill their daily nutritional needs. Recommended complementary foods are coming from local food that was highly nutritious, easily obtainable, and cereal-based, such as corn, tempeh, and carrot. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics and acceptance of powdered instant from flour corn sprouts, tempeh flour, carrot flour as complementary foods. This study was experimental study, using a completely randomized design, with three factors and two treatment, instant powder of flour corn sprouts, tempeh flour, carrot flour with ratio 50%: 40%: 10% and 55%: 40%: 5%. The mixture was made base on the adequacy of infant required nutrients 6-12 months. Panelists in this study were 7-12 months infants whose accompanied by his mother as many as 30 people. Test by organoleptic test and acceptence test data was analyzed by independent t test. The results showed that the organoleptic test of the color, flavor, and texture of the most preferred was powdered instant of flour corn sprouts 55%, tempeh flour 40%, and flour carrot 10%. While both instant powder aroma less preffered. Based on the analysis, there are differences in color and texture on both the instant powder. It was suggested to consumers to pay attention to the portion size of instant powder and advised to consume a wide variety of foodstuffs. Abstract

Technology of flouring is applied to the red bean into red bean flour in order to maintain its storability. Catfish is freshwater commodity with a good production but less utilized into various product. The combination of red bean flour and catfish can be processed into nuggets which could attract more people especially children. The purpose of this research is to find the acceptability of catfish nugget with red bean flour based on organoleptic analysis criterias including color, aroma, texture and flavor measured by the hedonic scale as well as to identify the level of nutrient contents of protein, fat, water, ash and carbohydrates. This is an experimental research, which consists of two factor, those are red bean flour and catfish using 3 different treatment. Each treatment using comparisons of red bean flour and catfish in amount 35% : 65%, 25% : 75% and 15% : 85% symbolized by A1, A2, A3. Panelists in this research are students of Elementary School 060929 Medan Johor of class VI A comprised 30 students. The result showed that the organoleptic test result of the nugget with red bean flour in treatment III (A3) that is most preffered by panelists, in terms of color, texture and flavor. Whereas for aroma criteria, nugget with red bean flour in treatment I (A1) is the most preffered by panelists. Based on the results of nutrient contents, nugget with the highest protein and water contents is contained in treatment A1 with each amount are 16,4474% and 36,457%, whereas the highest fat, ash and carbohydrate contents contained in treatment A3 with each amount are 29,7941%, 4,0877%, and 19,1318%. It is necessary to process more other ways catfish nugget with red bean flour to improve the acceptability as well as its quality in order to attract the consumer.
