Abstract

This study is a research that uses a quantitative approach that aims to describe student learning motivation in addition and subtraction operations in algebraic forms using Alef Education learning media at the seventh MTsN 1 Palu. The data in this study were collected using a questionnaire sheet with a total of 16 items and measured using a Likert scale, namely (1) strongly disagree, (2) disagree, (3) undecided, (4) agree, (5) strongly agree. The research subjects consisted of 32 students of grade VII MTsN 1 Palu. The results of this study show student learning motivation in the operation of calculating addition and subtraction of algebraic forms with Alef Education learning media in Class VII MTsN 1 Palu, which has a percentage of 73.71% and is included in high criteria, with indicators of perseverance in facing the task of getting a percentage of 77.92% with high competence, tenacious indicators facing difficulties getting a percentage of 72.66% with high criteria, The indicator shows interest in various problems gets a percentage of 80% with high criteria, the indicator prefers to work independently gets a percentage of 68.25% with high criteria, the indicator of getting bored quickly on routine tasks gets a percentage of 72.5% with high criteria, and the indicator of being able to defend one’s opinion rationally gets a percentage of 71,88% with high criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the profile of students' mathematical communication skills in solving story problems of arithmetic operations of algebraic forms in class VII SMP Negeri 14 Palu. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study consisted of 3 students, 1 high ability student, 1 medium ability student, and 1 low ability student. Data collection techniques used tests and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using 3 stages, namely: data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that high ability subjects achieved four indicators of mathematical communication ability in solving story problems of arithmetic operations of algebraic forms, medium ability subjects achieved four indicators of mathematical communication ability in solving story problems of arithmetic operations of algebraic forms but not all indicators could be explained verbally, and low ability subjects achieved three indicators of mathematical communication ability in solving story problems of arithmetic operations of algebraic forms and not all indicators could be explained verbally.

Abstract

This research intends to describe the application of the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach to profit and loss material of the VII B grade at MTs Nurul Falah Palu. This type of classroom action research (PTK). Design used in this classroom action research was Arikunto’s that consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The Subject of this research were 20 students of class VII B MTs Nurul Falah Palu. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results showed that in the final test cycle I there were 11 students who completed and 9 students did not complete with a percentage of classical learning completeness reaching 55%, while in cycle II there were 16 students completing and 4 students not completing with a classical learning completeness percentage reaching 80%. The observation results in cycle I showed that the activities of teachers and student groups were in the good category, while in the second cycle the activities of teachers and student groups were in the very good category. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Realistic Mathematic Education learning approach can improve student learning outcomes on the profit and loss material of class VII B grade at MTs Nurul Falah Palu through the following steps:1) understanding the contextual problems, in this stage the teacher presented contextual problems in LKPD and students discuss in their groups to understand the problems given by the teacher, 2) Explaining the problem, the teacher provides help if its needed in the form of questions that can direct students to solve problems 3) solving the problem, students in each group work together to solve the problems through following working steps of LKPD 4) comparing, and discussing the answer, each of group representative presents their answer in order from problem solving and the other member of group compare the answer they have to answer presented by the other group, 5) concluding, teacher guided students to conclude material they just learn. The props used are play money.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to improve student learning outcomes in trigonometry comparison materials in class X MIPA-1 SMA 1 Bambalamotu. The type of research used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) developed by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which carried out consists of 3 stages, namely (1) Planning, (2) the Implementation of actions and observations and (3) reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were all students of class X MIPA-1 as many as 30 students and 3 students were selected as informants with high, medium, and low abilities. The results sgowed that the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach could improve student learning outcomes in the Triginimetry Comparison Material of Class X MIPA-1 SMA Negeri 1 Bambalamotu by following the CTL components contained in the learning activities as follows : 1) Contructivism; 2) Inquiry; 3) Learning Comonity; 4) Question; 5) Modeling; 6) Reflection; and 7) Authentic assessment. The results of observation of teacher and student activities also experienced an increase where in cycle I there were still those who got less scores, but in cycle II all aspects that were assessed were getting good and very good ratings. The results of the final action test obtained by the students experienced completeness as many as 13 people and increased in the second cycle, it was obtained that 25 students experienced comletenness.

Abstract

The study is a qualitative research that aims to describe the students' mistakes in solving number pattern problems in class VIII C SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. The subjects of this study were 2 students drawn from 15 grade VIII C students at SMP Negeri 3 Banawa for the 2022/2023 school year who had studied number pattern material. The selection subjects of this study took into consideration, namely: (1) two students made more mistakes than other students, (2) had different mistakes, (3) mistakes could represent mistakes made by other students, (4) students could communicate well, and (5) recommendations from mathematics teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Banawa. The data collection techniques used are assignments and interviews. The analysis in this study used the Newman stage. The results of this study show several errors experienced by students in solving number pattern problems, namely: (1) Transformation error, namely students are wrong in determining the formula in and do not know the formula to be used in solving the problem, (2) Process ability error, namely students do not change Un to U12 and Un to U15, and students are wrong in performing calculation operations, (3) Error writing the final answer, namely students do not know and do not write the final conclusion.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information related to whether there are differences in students' mathematics learning outcomes between offline and online learning at SMP Negeri 1 Palu. The research method used in this study is the comparative method. The population in this study were all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Palu with a total of 352 students. The research sample was grade VII students who carried out offline and online learning, with different samples but had the same level of academic ability. The sampling technique in this study was Purposive Sampling. The researcher took 32 class A students and 32 class B students, so the number of samples taken was 64 people. The data collection technique in this study was by taking mid-semester test scores on the material Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2021/2022 Academic Year obtained by students during online learning and mid-semester test scores on Linear Equations and Inequalities of One Variable in the 2022/2023 Academic Year obtained by students during offline learning. On condition that the material taught is equivalent during offline and online learning and students have the same level of academic ability. The collected data is then processed using t-test statistical analysis. Based on the data analysis obtained: (1). The results of learning mathematics during online learning obtained an average value of 71.94; (2). The results of learning mathematics during offline learning obtained an average value of 58.56; (3). Sig. value. (2-tailed) 0.00 <0.05. This means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So the results of the study show that there is a difference in the results of learning mathematics of students taught with offline learning and online learning.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a description of the use of mathematics in the activities of carpenters and masons in the process of building a house. The subjects of this research were two builders who were carrying out construction in the village of Tokala Atas. The two craftsmen chosen as research subjects consisted of a masons and a carpenter. The research method used was qualitative with a descriptive type of research carried out in the village of Tokala Atas. The data collection techniques used were observation and interviews. Observations were made while the builders were building the house. Interview techniques were used to explore the data that had been obtained when the observations were made. The results of the research show that carpenters and masons use mathematical concepts in building houses, namely the Pythagorean concept when forming foundation angles and measuring the sloping sides of roofs. The concept of alignment when measuring foundation bow plank strings, measuring brick laying benchmark strings and measuring frame heights. The concept of comparison is used when measuring into the foundation and when determining the distance between floor girders. The concept of flat construction is used when making sloping reinforcement frames, making piles and forming wooden joints. The concept of perpendicular lines is used when adjusting the straightness of poles, sills and roof posts. Arithmetic concepts are used when calculating zinc and teal requirements. The mathematical concepts contained in house buildings made by carpenters are roof shape: roof shape, rice wrapper and wall shape: betel stacking shape, plate stacking and lengthwise.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a description or portrayal of the conceptual understanding of 8th-grade students in class G at SMP Negeri 3 Palu in solving statistics problems, with a focus on gender differences. This study adopts a descriptive research design with a qualitative approach. The research subjects are 8th-grade students in class G at SMP Negeri 3 Palu. Data were collected through written tests and interviews. The results of this research indicate that male students have a better conceptual understanding compared to female students based on conceptual understanding indicators. Male students can fulfill four out of five indicators, while female students fulfill three out of five conceptual understanding indicators. Both male and female students can articulate the concepts of mean, median, and mode in their own words. They can present data in table form with the correct arrangement. Male and female students can solve mean problems using appropriate algorithms. Male students can classify modes, whereas female students struggle to classify modes accurately. Both male and female students find it challenging to associate the concept of median with the concept of mean.

Abstract

This study aims to profile the completion of HOTS questions on the conical surface area material by SMP Negeri 1 Kasimabar students based on differentiated cognitive levels. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 2 students of different genders taken from class IX SMP Negeri 1 Kasimbar. The research subjects were one student with high mathematics ability with female gender (LN), and one student with high mathematics ability with male gender (MS). The data collection techniques in this study were written tests and in-depth interviews. The test given to the research subjects was a HOTS problem test on cone surface area material at the cognitive level of analyzing (C4). The results of this study indicate that the profile of solving HOTS problems on the surface area of the cone by students with high mathematics ability LN at the cognitive level of analyzing is correct, because the subject can distinguish information, organize by creating a structure in systematic problem solving and attribute by making conclusions based on the information obtained very well. While the profile of HOTS problem solving of cone surface area by MS high mathematics ability students at the cognitive level of analyzing is good, because MS subjects are also able to distinguish information and organize by creating structures in systematic problem solving, it's just that at the stage of attributing MS subjects are still lacking, because at the stage of attributings

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there is a significant influence between learning models on the learning outcomes of students in class X MIPA SMA GKST 1 Tentena. The research method used in this study is an experimental method that aims to see the causal relationship. The population of this study were all X MIPA students of SMA GKST 1 Tentena as many as 92 people consisting of 3 classes. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The sample in this study consisted of 60 students in the 2023/2024 school year, 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The results of data analysis that have been obtained, the average score of students in the experimental class is 88.77 with a standard deviation of 8.199, while the average score of students in the control class is 84.47 with a standard deviation of 7.468. The results of hypothesis testing using the independent sample t-test showed that there was a significant effect of the Missouri Mathematics Project learning model on the learning outcomes of GKST 1 Tentena High School students
