Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of Problem Based Learning model to improve student learning outcomes on surface area and volume of thebeam material in VIIIA SMP Negeri 11 Palu class. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with reference to the research design Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, ie 1) planning, 2) implementation of action and observation, and 3) reflection. This study was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this research is the students of class VIII ASMP Negeri 11 Palu hammer registered in the academic year 2018/2019 which amounted to 23 students, 14 female students and 9 male students. Data collection techniques are observation, test, interview, and field notes. In cycle I the number of complete students ie 13 students with a percentage mastery of 56,52% and in cycle II many students who completed the 19 students with 82,6% complete percentage. The results of this study show that the application of Problem Based Learnig (PBL) model can improve student learning outcomes of VIII A SMP Negeri 11 Palu by following PBL phases: 1) student orientation on the material problem cubes and beam especially surface area and volume of the beam 2) organize students to learn by forming cooperative learning groups, 3) developing independent student and group research, 4) developing and presenting the work, and 5) analyzing and evaluating problem solving.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the types of student errors and the factors causing the errors made by the X IPS class students of SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Timur. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study consisted of 3 students of class X IPS at SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Timur. The results of this study indicate the mistakes made by students in solving the composition function questions in the form of conceptual errors (writing errors were asked not in accordance with the question request, did not understand well the substitution method, did not understand the concept of the composition function, did not write down the unit) and procedural errors (wrong in multiplication operations, not understanding the steps for solving, not continuing the work to the end, not writing down was known and asked, wrong in multiplication and addition operations, not being careful in solving problems). Some of the factors that cause students to make mistakes are (1) not understanding the concept. (2) students have difficulty changing answer into other forms. (3) nor careful in performing arithmetic operations. (4) do not understand the concept of units. (5) incorrectly used procedures. (6) students only solve the questions until the stage is understood. (7) students are in a hurry to work on the questions. (8) don’t do the questions carefully

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to describe the application of the contextual teaching and learning approach in an effort to improve student learning outcomes on the material of a two-variable linear equation system. The research design refers to the research model developed by Kemmis and Mc.Taggart which consists of four components, namely (1) planning, (2) action implementation, (3) observation and (4) reflection. The data collected in the form of teacher and student activity data through observation sheets, interviews and field notes. This research was carried out using a contextual teaching and learning approach by following the following steps: (1) conveying goals and preparing students, (2) presenting information, (3) organizing students into study groups, (4) guiding group work and learning, and (5) evaluation.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are; (1) to obtain a description of the problem solving of class X MIPA1 students who have the FI cognitive style in solving the absolute value equation at SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan, (2) to obtain a description of the problem solving of class X MIPA1 students who have the FD cognitive style in solving the value equation absolutely in SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this study were 2 students taken from 20 students of class X MIPA1 SMA Negeri 1 Pamona Selatan who took the GEFT test. The results of this study indicate that students' problem solving with field independent cognitive style is based on Polya's steps, namely; (1) in understanding the problem, the field independent subject can write down completely what is known and asked in the question correctly, (2) at the planning stage, the field independent subject can relate the things that are known and asked in the question, so that in making problem-solving planning field independent subjects make plans correctly, (3) at the stage of implementing the problem-solving plan field independent subjects can perform calculations properly and correctly, (4) at the stage of rechecking the answers field independent subjects are able to recalculate the answers they get and able to provide conclusions on the answers obtained. The results of student problem solving with field dependent cognitive style are: (1) in understanding the field dependent subject problem can write completely what is known and asked in the question correctly, (2) at the stage of making field dependent subject planning is able to plan problem solving but inaccurate, (3) at the stage of implementing the problem-solving plan, the field dependent subject could not do the calculations correctly, (4) at the stage of re-examining the answers, the field dependent subject did not re-examine the answers obtained and did not provide conclusions on the answers he had obtained. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that the FI subject carried out the four Polya steps in solving the absolute value equation problem solving, in contrast to the FD subject who only performed Polya's three steps in solving the absolute value problem solving.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to obtain a description of the analysis of the argumentation abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 6 Palu on function. This type of research is descriptive research type. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were three students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 6 Palu for the 2021/2022 academic year. Students at a high level of mathematical ability have good argumentation skills because they are able to state what information is in the problem and at each step of completion (Data), are able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), are able to show data as well as provide evidence that is able to support statement put forward (Warrant), and able to reject the statement and explain the conditions under which the statement is not valid (Disclaimer). Students at the moderate level of mathematical ability have fairly good argumentation skills because they are able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), are able to show data as well as provide evidence that is able to support the statements put forward (Warrant). Students at low ability levels have less argumentation skills because they have not provided enough information about what is in the problem and at each step of completion (Data), have not been able to provide statements to solve a problem (Claim), have not been able to provide evidence capable of supporting statements made stated (Warrant), and also has not been able to provide an explanation of the conditions under which the statement is not valid (Rebuttal).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes by using the Discovery Learning learning model assisted by learning videos on building material for grade VII students of Palu Catholic Junior High School. This research is Classroom Action Research using a quantitative & quality approach. The subjects of this study were class VIIIA students totaling 23 students consisting of 13 male students and 10 female students with diverse abilities. This research was carried out in two cycles. The application of the Discovery Learning learning model with the help of learning videos that can improve the learning outcomes of grade students of Palu Catholic Junior High School. This is shown from the completeness of individual students in the first cycle as many as 17 out of 23 students with a class average score of 79.34 and a classical percentage of 73.91%, who took the test increased to 20 out of 23 students with a class average score of 90.21 and the classical percentage is 86.95%, who took the test in cycle II, so that the success indicators set have been achieved and have reached the KKM standard that has been set at Palu Catholic Junior High School, which is 80.

Abstract

This study aims to have a describe the mathematical problem solving profile of class VII-D students at SMPN 1 Pamona Utara on right triangle material in terms of gender differences. The subjects in this research were class VII-D students at SMPN 1 North Pamona, consisting of 1 boy and 1 girl with high mathematical abilities. The results of this research show that (1) The male student subject's problem solving profile can understand the problem by determining what is asked and known. However, SL did not write down the complete information obtained on the answer sheet. SL can plan problem solving by determining appropriate problem solving strategies. At the implementation stage, the SL problem solving plan can be implemented according to the determined strategy. At the re-checking stage, SL did not re-check the explanation. SL can draw conclusions from the results of problem solving but does not write them on the answer sheet. (2) Female students' problem solving profile can understand the problem by determining what is asked and known and writing it on the answer sheet. SP can plan problem solving by determining appropriate problem solving strategies. At the implementation stage, the SP problem solving plan can be implemented according to the determined strategy. At the re-checking stage, SP did not re-check the explanation. SP can draw conclusions from the results of problem solving but does not write them on the answer sheet.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of student errors in the results of the mathematics final exams for the 2022/2023 school year based on the Newman Procedure. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects used in this study were 29 students of class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. The results of this study are in the form of descriptions of student errors and the causes of errors made by class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. Based on the research results, it has been found that the most dominant errors are process errors with a percentage of 77%, transformation errors with a percentage of 82%, errors in understanding the problem with a percentage of 75%, and errors in writing the final answer with a percentage of 72%. The mistakes made in (1) the error in understanding the problem is where students do not write down what is known and what is asked, (2) transformation errors that occur, namely students misunderstand the meaning or concept to be used, (3) the process error made was not being able to carry out the process correctly and not being thorough, (4) errors in writing the final answer, namely the student made a mistake in writing the final answer and got an incorrect answer.

Abstract

This research aims to describe student’s problem solving related to combinatorial in class XII SMA Negeri 3 Palu viewed from self-efficacy. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research are student who have a high levels of self-efficacy and low levels self-efficacy. The result of the research show that the problem solving profile of students who have; 1) high level of self-efficacy, a) understanding the problem stage, student try hard and persistently to interpret the problem by reading repeatedly to find information, b) devising a plan stage, students have strategic thinking, c) carrying out the plan stage, student solve the problem according to plan, d) looking back stage, students check answers. 2) low level of self-efficacy, a) stage of understanding the problem, students only rewrite the information in the problem, b) stage of devising a plan, students only read the problem as is so the plan used it wrong, c) stage of carrying out the plan, students made a mistake in solving the problem given, d) stage of looking back, student did not re- check the answers.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the types of errors made by class VII D students of SMP Negeri 7 Palu in solving line and angle problems based on gender. Data was obtained from the results of written assignments and interviews. The research subjects consisted of one male student (AA) and one female student (YS). The results of the research show that there are similarities and differences between male and female students in making written assignments number 1 and 2. Male and female students make the same mistakes in written assignment number 1. The similarities are: 1) Errors of not understanding the concept of the relationship between angles that are supplementary to each other, 2) the error of not understanding the concept of the relationship between the interior and exterior angles of a triangle, 3) the error of not solving the problem according to the instructions, 4) the error of not being coherent in the calculation steps, 5) the error of using arithmetic operation signs, 6) Error calculating the value of a calculation operation. Meanwhile, in written assignment number 2, there were differences in errors made by male and female students. The male students' mistakes were: 1) The male students were correct in doing the questions according to the instructions but not completely or comprehensively, 2) The male students were not careful and rushed in solving the questions. The female student's mistakes in written assignment number 2 were: 1) The female student was correct in choosing the formula but could not apply the formula, 2) The female student solved the problem not according to the procedure ordered. The similarity between male and female students in completing written assignment number 2 is that in the problem solving procedure they can group similar and dissimilar terms in the written assignment.
