Abstract

ABSTRACT Shallots production in Indonesia is still low due to the use of less seeds and poor planting medium. Utilization of superior seed variety and azolla as organic fertilizer with N can be used as a solution. This research aims to obtain the dose of azolla compost which can increase the growth and shallots production. The research was in Medan with ± 25 meters above sea level, from Maret until June 2016. This research used non factorial randomized block design namely no azolla compost, azolla 12,5 g / polybag, 25 g / polybag, 37,5 g / polybag, 50 g / polybag, and 62,5 g / polybag. Parameter observed were plant length, number of leaves per clump, number of tillers per clump, diameter of the bulbs, wet bulb weight and dry bulb weight. The result showed that applicatian of azolla compost only had a significant effect on parameter plant height 6 week after plant. While parameter plant height 2 – 5 week after plant, number of leaves 2 – 6 week after plant, number of tillers per clump 2 – 6 week after plant, diameter of the bulbs, wet bulb weight and dry bulb weight were not significant effect. Abstract

Pre-emergent weed control is important in weed control strategy. Differences in characteristics of both peat and mineral soil may lead to a different result of weed control, especially pre-emergent herbicide application. Indaziflam, a pre-emergant herbicide, can be used as an alternative herbicide in overcoming weed resistance and tolerant weed.The objective of this study was to determine the efficacy of indaziflam at various doses on  peat and mineral soil using Asystasia intrusa (Forssk.) Nees and Eleusine  indica (L.) Gaertn. as indicator weeds. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design a factorial with four replicates. The first factor was dose of indaziflam (0; 12,5; 25; 37,5; 50; 62,5 and 75 g.ai/ha) and the second factor was type of soil (peat and mineral soil). The results showed that treatments of doses herbicide significantly affected the efficacy of indazfilam on A. intrusa and E. indica on peat and mineral soil. The efficacy was higher on mineral soil compared to peat soil.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and determine the chemical properties of paddy soil in the Sunggal sub district so that it can be determined Sunggal paddy soil fertilizer recommendations. Research using surveys with sampling techniques stratified random sampling based on the type of rice fields Rainfed and Irrigation and data analysis pH with methods Elektrometri, C organic method of Walkley and Black, the N total with methods Kjeldhal, P available by the method of Bray II, cations base (K+,Na+,Ca2+,Mg2+)by the method of extraction of NH4OAc 1N pH 7, CEC with NH4OAc 1 N pH 7 extraction method and Base Saturation with the calculations. Results of research on the soil for rainfed and irrigation showed that the pH of dominant soil slightly acid, organic C dominant low, N total is low, P available predominantly very low, K exchange dominant low, Ca exchange is low, Mg exchange the dominant medium, Na exchange low dominant, dominant CEC being, Base Saturation is very low dominant. Soil fertility status of rainfed and irrigation is relatively very low to low, except in rainfed Puji Mulyo village were moderate due to high organic C.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the suitability of corn crop plant (Zea mays L.) and sweet potato (Ipomea batatas L.) in South Kualuh Subdistrict of North Labuhanbatu District. The method used in this research is survey method From the results of the overlay from the map of soil types, map of topography, and map of height place, retrieved 5 units of land use map. SPL 1 has an area of ​​34.95 hectares, SPL 2 has an area of ​​12.96 hectares, and SPL 3 has an area of ​​24.96 hectares, SPL 4 has an area of ​​159.85 hectares, and SPL 5 has an area of ​​73 hectares. The result at this research showed the highest potential of land suitability classes in set of land 1 is corn (S2 tc) and sweet potato (S2 tc, wa), in set of land 2 is corn (S2 tc) and sweet potato (S2 tc, wa), in set of land 3 is corn (S2 tc) and sweet potato (S2 tc , wa), in in set of land 4 is corn (S2 tc) and sweet potato (S2 tc, wa), in set of land 5 is corn (S2 tc) and sweet potato (S2 tc, wa).

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mempelajari pengaruh pola tanam tumpangsari dan pemupukan NPK  dalam pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung manis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Desa Tanjung Selamat pada bulan Mei sampai November 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu: faktor pertama pola tanam (monokultur jagung manis, tumpangsari jagung manis – padi gogo, tumpangsari jagung manis – kedelai) dan faktor kedua pupuk NPK (0, 50, 100, 150 g/plot). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola tanam tumpangsari berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 6 MST dan luas daun jagung manis. Dosis pupuk NPK berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman 6-7 MST, luas daun, dan jumlah baris per tongkol jagung manis. Interaksi antara pola tanam dan dosis pemberian pupuk NPK berpengaruh tidak nyata. Nilai Nisbah Kesesuaian Lahan yang tertinggi diperoleh pada pola tanam jagung manis – kedelai dengan pemupukan NPK (100 g/plot).

Abstract

This reserach aimed to identify the morphological chracteristics and phylogenetic relationship of asam gelugur in three North Sumatera district. The research was done at Deli Serdang district, Langkat district and Serdang Berdagai district in Mei to September 2016 with survey method using asam gelugur descriptor of IPGRI. Sampling technique using accidental sampling. Parameters observed were tree height, trunk height, trunk circumference, trunk surface, crown shape, young leaf colour, mature leaf colour, leaf blade size (lenght and widht), leaf blade shape, leaf base shape, leaf apex shape, leaf blade margin, leaf venation appearance, flower size, position of flowers, sepal colour, petal colour, fruit shape, number of fruit segments, fruit diameters, fruit weight, fruit size, fruit skin thickness, mature fruit colour, seed lenght, seed widht, number of seeds per fruit, seed shape, seed coat colour. This result of research showed that in tree North Sumatera district there were 21 accession of asam gelugur been identified. The result of morphologycal characteristics for crown shape (pyramidal and elliptic), trunk surface (smooth, rough, very rough), leaf shape (elliptic, oblong, lanceolate), flower shape (female flower and hermaphrodite flower), fruit shape (round, flattened, ovoid).   Keywords : garcinia atroviridis, identification, morphologycal-characteristics

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the effect of cytokinin on the scion compatibility on the grafting union of Garcinia atroviridis. The research was conducted in Gelugur Jaya Nursery, Dusun II Bahorok, Langkat District from February 2017 to July 2017. The randomize block design (RBD) was used with 2 factors; the first factor was the rootstock type i.e; hermaphrodite rootstock and female rootstock; the second factor was the cytokinin (0 ppm, 2 ppm, 4 ppm). The result showed that the cytokinin significantly affected the number of leaves. The cytokinin with 4 ppm showed the highest number of leaves. The rootstock was not affected the whole parameters.

Abstract

This reserach aimed to identify the morphological chracteristics and phylogenetic relationship  of   G. atroviridis and a conservation material in three districts of North Sumatra The research was conducted at Asahan, Batubara and Serdang Berdagai district from Februari to mei 2017 by survey method. G. atroviridis samples founded in three districs were identified and  characterzed based on International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) standard. Sampling technique using accidental sampling. Parameters observed were fruit shape, number of fruit segments, fruit diameters, fruit weight, fruit size, fruit skin thickness, mature fruit colour. The result showed that there were 18 accession of G. atroviridis found in three districts. Morphologycal characteristic of G. atroviridis was  fruit shape (round, flattened, ovoid,). In fruit morphology showed that the 18 individuals analyzed were divided into 4 groups on a distance scale of 0,796 with a similarity rate of about 79-85.

Abstract

This reserach aimed to identify the morphological chracteristics and phylogenetic relationship of Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus sp.) plants. The research was started from April 2017 until May 2017 at Sitinjo district of  Dairi Regency North Sumatera with survey methode using dragon fruit descriptor of Hylocereus by International Union For The Protection Of New Varieties (UPOV). Sampling technique using purposive sampling. Exploration results was obtained 24 genotypes of Dragon Fruit plants based on identified fruit morphological characteristic. Based on clustering analyze the closest genetic relationship is on genotype G17 and G23 which has 2 differences of 7 characteristic with dissimilarity coeficient is 1,000 and the furthest genetic relationship is on genotype G18 and G26 with dissimilarity coeficien is 4,796 which has 5 differences of 7 characteristic.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identification of morphological characteristic and kinship of sweet potato at Kabupaten Simalungun and Kabupaten Dairi. The research well done in regency Simalungun dan regency Dairi, North Sumatera at March to June 2017 with descriptive survey using characterzed based on International Board for Plant Genetic Resources (IBPGR) standard and purposive random sampling technique. The result of this research indicate there 21 (twenty one) genotype of sweet potato that in Kabupaten Simalungun consists of Kecamatan Silimakuta (G1, G2, G3, and G4), Purba (G5, G6 and G7), Dolok Silau (G8), Pamatang Silimahuta (G9), Dolok Perdamean (G10), Hutabayu Raja (G11) in Kabupaten Dairi consists of Kecamatan Parbuluan (G12, G13, G14, G15, and G16), Sidikalang (G17 and G18), Sumbul (G19 and G20), and Sitinjo (G21) with closest kinship is G18 and G20 with a coefecient similarity 8,541 and farthes kinship is G4 and G5with a coefecient similarity 116,338.
