Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) of fruits and its application on the N absorption and growth of mustard plant on ultisol soil. This study used a two-factor randomized group design with 3 replications. The first factor concentration of LOF with 4 levels ie P0 = 0ml LOF + 100ml water /polybag, P1 = 25ml LOF + 75ml water /polybag, P2 = 50ml LOF + 50ml water /polybag, P3 = 75ml LOF+ 25ml water /polybag, and the second factor of application of LOF with 3 levels that is B1= watered, B2= Sprayed, B3=½ watered and ½ sprayed. The results showed that giving LOF increases of soil pH by 5.78%, N absorption by 1.82 %; and number of leaves by 7.33%, wet weight by 1.47%, dry weight by 1.64%. The application method increases of soil pH by 7.05%, the number of leaves by 15.33%, and wet weight by 23.15%, dry weight by 2.39%, and N absorption by 9.87% and; The interaction of giving concentration of LOF and the application method increases of soil pH by 10.65%, and number of leaves by 37.52%, wet weight by 23.37% and dry weight by 4.86%, N absorption by 23.57 %. The best combination treatment is 75ml LOF + 25ml water and ½ watered + ½ sprayed.

Abstract

The white root rot disease caused by Rigidoporus micropus is the main disiase found in rubber trees that can cause decay on the roots. The research begins from April until August, 2016. It was conducted in Laboratorium Proteksi Balai Pembibitan Karet Sungai Putih Laboratory of Protection of Rubber Breeding Center, Deli Serdang District, North Sumatera Province. The objective of the research was to find out the potentials of root exudates to inhibit the growth of R. microporus. This research used non-factorial RAL (Completely Randomized Design) which observed the growth area of colony of R. microporus, hypha abnormality, inhibition percentage, protein analysis as well as hypha microscopy and macroscopy. In this study it was found that protein compounds were not inhibiting factors for growth of white root fungi but phenol compounds. The largest growth of R. microporus colony was found in the control treatment (64 cm2). Meanwhile, the lowest growth of R. microporus colony was found in the treatment of 10% of bangun-bangun root exudates. This research proves that bangun-bangun root exudates were able to inhibit the growth of white root rot disease of rubber. Hypha abnormality was found in every treatment which has been added by bangun-bangun root exudates. However, abnormalities of white root fungal hyphae were clearly seen in the treatment 10% of bangun-bangun of root exudates.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mendapatkan individu terpilih pada generasi F5 kedelai berdasarkan karakter produksi tinggi hasil persilangan Detam-2 dengan Grobogan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Lahan Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dengan ketinggian tempat ± 32 m diatas permukaan  laut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret sampai Juli 2018. Parameter yang diamati adalah umur berbunga, tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang primer, umur panen, jumlah polong per tanaman, jumlah polong berisi per tanaman, jumlah biji per tanaman, bobot biji per tanaman dan bobot 100 biji. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 23 sampel genotipe yang memiliki produksi tinggi. Seleksi pedigree yang dilakukan pada tanaman kedelai generasi F5 masing-masing famili terbaik dari hasil persilangan.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the silica fertilizer dosage and application time for growth and production sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench.). This research was conducted at Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Sumatera Utara began from March until August 2018, This research used factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was silica fertilizer dosage with four levels are 0 , 0.5, 1, and 1.5 gram/plot and the second factor was application time with four application time are: 10, 20, 30, and 40 Day After Planting. Parameter observed were plant's length, stem diameter, weight of 1000 seeds, weight of seed per sample and weight of seed per plot. Silica fertilizer and application time can improve growth and production of  sorgum variety Super 2. The highest production percentage of sorgum reach 55.27%  compared with control, the production reach 4.30 tons/hectare.

Abstract

The effect of giving goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties of paddy soil and red onion production (Allium ascalonicum L.). The purpose was to determine the effect of goat manure and ZA fertilizer on the chemical properties and production of red onion on paddy fields. This research was conducted from April to June 2018 using factorial randomized block design (RBD) and repeated three times. The first factor is the dose of goat manure consisting of: 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 tons / ha, and the second factor is the dose of ZA fertilizer consisting of: 0, 200, 400, 600 kg / ha. The results showed that the application of goat manure significantly affected the increase of C-organic, cation exchange capacity. ZA fertilizer has a significant effect on pH reduction.

Abstract

This study aims to map P-Available, P-Total and Cadmium in paddy fields of Pematang Nibung Village, Medang Deras Subdistrict, Batu Bara District, with 109 ha of paddy fields area. This Study  carried out from March to August 2018. The method used in this research was grid survey method that observe the soil are carried out in regular pattern (the interval of observation points is equidistant in the vertical and horizontal directions). So that there are 14 points of 450 m longitude and latitude, analyzed its P-Available nutrient data (ppm) using Bray II  method  with spectrophotometer, P-Total (%) by using HNO3 extraction method with  spectrophotometer and Cadmium (ppm) by using AAS (Atomic  Absorbtion  Spectrophotometer) and interpolated it on maps with QGIS software and correlation analysis with Microsoft Excel. The results showed the distribution of  high  P-Available (53.39-159.06 ppm) nutrient status hara was as much as 109 ha (100 %). Distribution of Medium P-Total (0.06-0.07 %) nutrient status was as much as 26,87 ha (24.65 %), and rather high P-Total (0.09-0.10 %) was as much as 21.87ha (20.06 %), and high P-Total (0.11-0.13 %) was as much as 60.26 ha (55.28 %). Distribution of (0.01-0.05 ppm) uncontaminated Cadmium was as much as 109 ha (100 %). The analysis of P-Available correlation coefficient value was very weak related and not significant for P-Total which is 0.90. The analysis of P-Available correlation coefficient value is weak related and not significant for Cadmium which is -0.32. The analysis of P-Total correlation coefficient value was very weak related and not significant for Cadmium which is 0.10.

Abstract

Fruit flies are an important pest of oranges, the damage caused by fruit flies can result in miscarriage in the fruit before reaching the desired maturity. This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of the use of various traps on fruit fly. The most effective trap was a trap of, combination mixture of methyl eugenol and cocoa waste, a yellow trap at an altitude of 100 cm (142 fruit flies). The use of traps was able to trap male fruit flies and female fruit flies and was able to trap other insects. Other insects trapped were the order Diptera and Coleoptera. Abstract

ABSTRAKSebanyak 5 genotipe ubijalar (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5) dataran tinggi ditanam pada dataran rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adaptasi tanaman ubijalar (Ipomoea batatas L.) dataran tinggi pada dataran rendah. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Tanjung Selamat Kabupaten Deli Serdang mulai bulan Mei sampai dengan Oktober 2017. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak kelompok. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ubijalar G4 memiliki bobot umbi paling berat jika dibandingkan dengan genotip lainnya (466,67 g). G3 memiliki jumlah umbi paling banyak jika dibandingkan dengan genotip lainnya (4,67). G1 memiliki rataan bobot umbi paling berat jika dibandingkan dengan genotip lainnya (197,81 g). G1 dan G2 memiliki ketebalan korteks paling tebal jika dibandingkan dengan genotip lainnya (9 atau sangat tebal). Ubijalar dataran tinggi yang ditanam pada dataran tinggi lebih mudah beradaptasi dibandingkan yang ditanam pada dataran rendah. Dapat dilihat dari semua parameter produksi yang diamati.Kata kunci : adaptasi, genotip, karakter morfologis, ubijalar

Abstract

ABSTRACT Rice is a plant that is classified as vulnerable to the maternity environment so that it can reduce productivity. The efficient use of production factors can increase maximum profits for rice production. This study aims to determine the impact of extensive land area, fertilizer application, pesticide on the productivity of paddy rice, to determine the limits of salinity land suitability to productivity of paddy rice. This research was conducted in Rugemuk Village, Pantai Labu District and Laboratory of Chemical and Soil Fertility, Research and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in July-September 2018. This study uses a purposive sampling method. The parameters measured were extensive of land area, N fertilizer, P fertilizer, K fertilizer, pesticide, salinity and productivity of lowland rice. Data were tested by regression analysis and correlation.The results showed the that : simultaneously the extensive of land area, N fertilizer, P fertilizer, K fertilizer and pesticide are positively correlated to the productivity of paddy rice, in partially salinity correlates negatively to the productivity of paddy rice. Limit the suitability of land for salinity rice between the classes in suitable with unsuitable is 3.74 dS/m. Keywords: lowland rice, factors of production, salinity, land suitability, productivity

Abstract

ABSTRACT Soil's physical properties are one of the factors that influence the productivity of shallots. This research aims to determine the correlation of soil's physical properties towards productivity of shallots in Watershed of Lake Toba. This research was carried out in the center of the shallot planting area in the area of ​​Lake Toba, Muara District, Bakti Raja District, Silahisabungan District, Merek District, Haranggaol District, and Samosir Island, which have at altitude 911 – 1432 meters above sea level. This research used survey methods which includes literature studies, preparation of the questionnaire, survey around of Lake Toba and processing data from survey in Lake Toba area. The results showed that soil's physical properties and the productivity of shallots had a correlation with value of r = 0.71. The best soil texture for the cultivation of shallots in Watershed of Lake Toba  is sandy loam. Keywords : shallots, soil's physical properties, Watershed of Lake Toba
