Abstract

The number of students arriving late often disrupts the classroom atmosphere and disrupts adherence to school rules. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the behavioral contract technique in changing this habit. Using a qualitative approach focused on literature review, this study found that internal factors within students and environmental factors are the main causes of their tardiness. Behavioral counseling can help change behavior through reinforcement and habit training, while the behavioral contract technique provides clear rules and agreements that make students more responsible. Behavioral changes occur gradually and are more effective if students are involved and there is a balance between rewards and punishments. Therefore, this technique is suitable for use as a practical way to train student discipline in the school environment.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between suffering in Job 1–21 and God's sovereignty in the Old Testament. The problem arises from the tension between the theology of retribution that links suffering to sin and the reality that the righteous can also suffer. Job is a key figure in understanding this theological dilemma. This study uses a qualitative method with a biblical exegetical approach through analysis of historical context, literary structure, and theological meaning. The primary data comes from the text of Job 1–21, supported by relevant theological literature. The analysis is conducted descriptively and analytically to find the relationship between suffering and God's sovereignty. The results show that Job's suffering is not a direct result of sin, but rather occurs within the scope of God's sovereignty that transcends human understanding. This text also critiques the rigid understanding of the theology of retribution and emphasizes that faith is rooted in trust, not merely rational understanding. Job's perseverance demonstrates that suffering can be a means of faith growth as well as a test that deepens humanity's relationship with God. This study emphasizes that suffering is part of God's sovereign plan and encourages believers to remain faithful and persevere amidst the uncertainties and struggles of life.

Abstract

The phenomenon of academic procrastination is a serious obstacle in the world of education, manifesting as a deliberate delay in starting or completing school assignments. This behavior leads to a decline in academic achievement and an increase in student anxiety when approaching deadlines. This article aims to examine the effectiveness of time management as a strategy to reduce academic procrastination behavior in students through a comprehensive literature review. The research method employed is library research, using content analysis techniques on scientific journal articles and previous research findings relevant within the last ten years. The research findings indicate a significant negative correlation between time management and academic procrastination, where the ability to prioritize and adhere to schedules effectively can lower the level of task delay. Furthermore, intervention through guidance and counseling services using self-management techniques has proven to be a strategic solution in enhancing student learning independence. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of the role of Guidance and Counseling teachers in integrating time management training into guidance programs to support students' sustainable academic effectiveness.

Abstract

This is a worrying issue in the digital age and has been shown to significantly contribute to low student academic achievement. This research aims to examine the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) services in addressing social media addiction in students with low academic achievement. The method used in this research is library research with a qualitative approach through content analysis and literature synthesis techniques sourced from various scientific references published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that students addicted to social media have low self-control, resulting in academic procrastination and a consistent decline in learning achievement. GC services have proven to play a strategic role through preventive, curative, and developmental functions implemented through classical guidance, individual counseling, and group counseling. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach and self-management technique have proven most effective in helping students reduce social media addiction and improve learning discipline. However, the effectiveness of GC services is still constrained by the non-ideal ratio of counseling teachers, the lack of digital literacy-based GC programs, and students' negative stigma toward counseling services. This study recommends developing GC programs specifically designed to address digital addiction by involving the entire school ecosystem consistently.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a detailed overview of efforts in counseling and guidance programs that teach self-control skills to children whose gaming habits are causing problems. When children spend too much time playing online video games, it can negatively impact their mental health. Problems with emotional regulation, irritability, and lack of self-control in daily life are possible consequences. Appropriate counseling and guidance services are needed to help children develop more adaptive skills to manage their emotions. This study used extensive qualitative data and followed a case study technique. A child whose gaming addiction was causing problems for him participated in the study. Data analysis included tasks such as data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions; data collection methods included documentation, interviews, and observation. Based on the findings, guidance and counseling programs can teach children self-control strategies to help them manage their emotions, reduce irritation, and become more self-aware when playing online games. Therefore, teaching children self-control skills may be a good way to help them overcome negative feelings that arise from playing online video games.

Abstract

Truancy among high school students continues to be a serious concern that has negative effects on both academic outcomes and social development. This study seeks to analyze the application of reality therapy as an intervention to minimize truancy behavior. The research utilizes a literature review approach by evaluating six relevant scholarly articles published over the past decade. The findings suggest that truancy is caused by a combination of internal factors, such as lack of learning motivation and feelings of boredom, and external factors, including family environment and peer influence. Conventional approaches that rely heavily on punishment and external control are considered less effective in creating lasting behavioral improvements. On the other hand, reality therapy emphasizes personal responsibility, present actions, and self-assessment, allowing students to better understand their behavior and make more positive decisions. The results demonstrate that this approach enhances students’ self-awareness, responsibility, and decision-making abilities. Therefore, reality therapy can be regarded as an effective alternative counseling method to address truancy behavior in schools and to support long-term behavioral change.

Abstract

Bullying in schools continues to be a serious concern that adversely impacts students’ psychological well-being, social relationships, and academic performance. Factors such as low empathy, inadequate social skills, and limited environmental control contribute significantly to this behavior. This study seeks to examine the implementation of group guidance as an approach to reducing bullying among students. A qualitative descriptive method was utilized, involving participants consisting of students identified as bullying perpetrators, school counselors, and victims. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation, which were analyzed through processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal that group guidance leads to positive behavioral changes in students, such as enhanced empathy, greater self-awareness, and improved communication and social interaction abilities. Furthermore, a reduction in both verbal and social bullying behaviors was observed. The group dynamics established during the sessions enabled students to better understand the consequences of their actions and gain insights from the experiences of others. These findings imply that group guidance can serve as an effective and sustainable strategy for preventing and managing bullying in school settings.

Abstract

The diversity of students’ study motivations in theological higher education presents both challenges and opportunities in shaping the spirituality of prospective Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers. Not all students enter the CRE program based on a calling to ministry, resulting in varying levels of initial spiritual readiness. This study aims to analyze the process of spiritual formation among CRE students as prospective teachers at STT Katharos Indonesia Bekasi in the context of diverse study motivations, referring to James W. Fowler’s theory of faith development. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving CRE students. The findings reveal that despite diverse initial motivations, the integrated theological education process through academic learning, ministry practices, community life, and spiritual formation effectively fosters faith growth and personal encounters with Christ. This process contributes to the development of students’ spiritual maturity. The study concludes that CRE education functions as an effective means of faith transformation in preparing prospective teachers with strong spiritual integrity and readiness for ministry.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the process of implementing the manugal tradition among the Dayak Ngaju community, identify the values contained within it, and analyze its relevance in Christian life thru a contextual theology approach of the counter-cultural model. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach thru the collection of data from journals, books, and relevant scientific sources. The research results show that manugal is a rice planting tradition of the Dayak Ngaju community, carried out in stages, starting from meneweng, manyeha, mangakal, to the seed planting process using tugal communally (handep hapakat). This tradition not only serves as an agricultural activity but also embodies values of social solidarity, togetherness, care, responsibility, and dependence on God, which are manifested thru communal prayers before the implementation of manugal. In the perspective of Christian life, these values are relevant to the teachings of love, friendship, humility, mutual assistance, and the concept of the body of Christ living in harmonious relationships with others. In addition to having positive values such as character formation, strengthening social solidarity, and community spirituality, the manugal culture also has negative values, such as land burning practices that have the potential to harm the environment and the habit of consuming alcoholic beverages that need to be critically reviewed based on Christian faith values. Therefore, the manugal culture can be understood as a countercultural model to modern individualistic culture because it emphasizes values of togetherness, mutual assistance, and social concern, which still need to be theologically reflected upon to align with Christian teachings.

Abstract

The fragmentation of the Corinthian congregation recorded in 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 presents a classic leadership challenge that persists in various forms within contemporary churches. While previous studies have examined this text through rhetorical, literary, and biblical-exegetical lenses, the integration of modern theological frameworks remains underexplored. This study aims to integrate a biblical exegesis of 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 with Miroslav Volf‘s theology of forgiveness (Exclusion and Embrace) to reinterpret Paul’s leadership principles. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study proceeds in three stages: syntactical-semantic exegesis of the Greek text, systematic description of Volf‘s concepts of exclusion, embrace, and healing of memory, and an integrative interpretation. The results identify three leadership principles in Paul’s response: christocentricity, relationality, and anti-celebrity cultism. These principles are mapped onto Volf‘s framework, revealing that Paul’s rejection of factionalism functions as an early praxis of “embrace“ that refuses exclusion of the other. The discussion highlights that Volf’s trinitarian model of perichoresis provides a theological grounding for Paul‘s call for unity, while Paul’s concrete leadership strategies offer a biblical foundation for Volf‘s abstract phenomenology. The implications for contemporary church leadership include a three‑dimensional model: theocentric focus, relational‑trinitarian unity, and forgiveness‑based conflict resolution.
