Abstract

This study discusses the urgency of a mass wedding program as a form of the Church’s pastoral concern for prospective husbands and wives at Gereja Katolik Santo Antonius Abbas Beokina in the Keuskupan Ruteng, Flores-NTT. Marriage in the Catholic Church understoad as a sacrament that contains profound theological meaning, however,in pastoral reality, many Catholic couples still live together without receiving the sacrament of marriage officially. This condition is influenced by economic limitations, customary demands, lack of understanding of the meaning of the sacrament, and administrative obstacles. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The analysis was conducted using analytical, expository, and pastoral theological reflection methods. The findings reveal that the mass marriage program serves as a contextual pastoral solution that helps couples obtain sacramental and legal recognition in the Catholic Church. In addition, the program functions as a means of evangelization and faith formation for families through continuous pastoral accompaniment. Therefore, mass marriage is considerea a relevant pastoral service that not only  resolves canonical issues but also strengthens the spiritual and social life of Catholic families within the Church community.

Abstract

Students in the Generation Z era face increasingly severe psychosocial challenges due to the rapid development of digital technology and the moral degradation that follows. National survey data shows that one in three Indonesian teenagers has a mental health problem, while most Christian Gen Z do not have a spiritual mentor and feel distressed by worries about the future. In the midst of this reality, the PAK approach, which is still dominated by doctrinal knowledge transfer, is considered not able to accompany students comprehensively. This study aims to analyze Jesus' empathetic counseling approach in John 4:1-42 in an integrative manner, bringing together the perspectives of biblical theology and Rogers counseling psychology, in order to formulate a contextual and applicable mentoring model for PAK teachers. The method used is a literature study with a combination of thematic analysis and contextual biblical hermeneutic analysis. The results of the study show three main findings. First, Jesus' approach in John 4 is shown to be in harmony with Rogers' three conditions of effective counseling, empathy, unconditional acceptance, and congruence, forming a paradigm of companionship that is relevant throughout the ages. Second, Jesus' companionship principles have proven to be relevant to Gen Z's five key psychosocial needs, including unconditional acceptance, full presence, non-judgmental confrontation, transformative mentoring, and space to truly be heard. Third, this study formulates the Empathic Integrative Accompaniment Model (EIAM) as an original contribution that has never been formulated before in the academic literature of PAK Indonesia, consisting of five steps: full presence, empathy-based active listening, unconditional acceptance, empathic confrontation, and transformative mentoring. This model offers flexible guidance for PAK teachers to guide, explore potential, and accompany learners to become agents of change in their communities, while affirming the pedagogical relevance of biblical texts to today's educational challenges.

Abstract

This research examines the process of inculturating the Christian faith thru the use of traditional Dayak Katingan music in church life at the Evangelical Church of Kalimantan (GKE) using the Anthropological Model of Contextual Theology perspective. The research is motivated by the church's need to present expressions of faith that are relevant to the local cultural context without diminishing the essence of Christian teachings. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were obtained thru observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving pastors, music ministers, church council members, and congregation members in the Katingan region. The research results show that the use of traditional musical instruments such as japen, suling balawung, and katambung is a form of inculturation that preserves local cultural elements while simultaneously transforming their meaning and function based on Gospel values. In this process, cultural elements that do not contradict Christian teachings are retained and reinterpreted as means of praise, worship, faith expression, and strengthening the congregation's identity. The research findings affirm that the Anthropological Model Contextual Theology enables a constructive dialog between the Gospel and culture, so that traditional music not only serves as a medium for expressing Christian faith but also as a means of preserving Dayak Katingan culture. Thus, the inculturation of traditional music in GKE Katingan contributes to the strengthening of local cultural identity and the deepening of the congregation's spirituality.
