Abstract

The lack of varied instructional media in Physical Education (PJOK) causes low student motivation and movement participation. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of the ABCS (Agility, Balance, Coordination, Strength) learning media innovation. The approach used is Research and Development (R&D) adopting Sugiyono's methodology. Data evaluation involved feasibility validation by three experts (material, media, practitioner) and field trials on a small scale (67 students) and a large scale (173 students) using questionnaires. The results showed that expert validation reached an average of 93.33% (Very Feasible). During field trials, implementation effectiveness increased significantly from 84.29% (small scale) to 91.53% (large scale), with the highest surge in the affective aspect (91.94%). The use of four-color stimuli and integrated barcode tutorials successfully broke the monotony and boosted students' enthusiasm. In conclusion, the ABCS media is highly feasible, practical, and effective as a pedagogical solution to optimize physical fitness learning.

Abstract

This technique is crucial, but problems arise from insufficient rotation speed, which affects accuracy. In reality, many beginner table tennis players and UKM members still experience difficulties in producing consistent serves, especially with variations in spin and precise ball placement. Observations during the UKM training program indicate that many students struggle to control the ball''s direction, vary its spin, and maintain consistency in their service strokes. This research design uses a quasi-experimental type of research, design the Non-Equivalent Control Design Group is the most frequently used design in social research. This design is where the experimental group is influenced by a particular variable by involving a non-randomly selected control group, measured before and after the intervention. The sample used in this study consisted of 22, the experimental and control groups were divided equally, with 11 participants per variable class. The results of the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) showed that the covariate variable (pretest) had a significant effect on the posttest score, F (1,39) 8.224 p 0.007. After controlling for the influence of the pretest score, the posttest score experienced a significant difference, F (3,39) 13.605 p 0.001 partial N2 0.511. However, from an inferential perspective, the statistical analysis showed no significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p0.05). This indicates that the effectiveness of the New Spin Wheel method has not been proven strongly at the 5% significance level. This insignificance may be influenced by several methodological factors, including the relatively small sample size, differences in initial ability levels between the groups, and limited control of variables in a quasi-experimental design.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between screen time and sleep quality as well as physical fitness levels of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Semarang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The population consisted of 287 students, and 74 students were selected as the sample using simple random sampling based on the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires to measure screen time and sleep quality, as well as a physical fitness test to assess students’ fitness levels. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated a significant relationship between screen time and sleep quality (r = 0.234; p = 0.045) with a low correlation level, and a significant relationship between screen time and physical fitness levels (r = -0.354; p = 0.002) with a moderate correlation level. The coefficient of determination showed that screen time contributed 5.48% to sleep quality and 12.53% to physical fitness levels. Overall, screen time plays a significant role in students’ sleep quality and physical fitness levels.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of physical fitness, the level of learning concentration, and the relationship between physical fitness and learning concentration among seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Semarang. This research employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 62 students selected through cluster random sampling. Physical fitness was measured using the Tes Kebugaran Pelajar Nusantara (TKPN), while learning concentration was assessed using the Grid Concentration Test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test with Monte Carlo approach, linearity test, and Pearson Product Moment correlation at a significance level of 0.05. The results indicated that both variables were normally distributed and linearly related. The Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive and statistically significant relationship between physical fitness and learning concentration (r = 0.274, p = 0.031). The coefficient of determination (r² = 0.075) revealed that physical fitness contributed 7.5% to students learning concentration. In conclusion, physical fitness has a positive but low significant relationship with students learning concentration.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of resistance band training and ankle weights on the front kick speed of pencak silat athletes at the Tri Gerak Sakti in North Jakarta. This study used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design. The study sample consisted of 12 female athletes divided into two groups, namely the resistance band training group (n = 6) and the ankle training group (n = 6). The instrument used was a 10-second front kick speed test. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS version 22 at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that both groups experienced an increase in average scores from pretest to posttest. The resistance band group increased from a mean of 20.33 to 23.67, while the ankle group increased from a mean of 19.83 to 22.67. The hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 in both groups, so that resistance band training and ankle weights had a significant effect on increasing front kick speed. Furthermore, resistance band training provided greater gains than ankle weights. Therefore, both training methods can be used in pencak silat training programs to improve the biomotor component of an athlete's front kick speed.

Abstract

Increasing public awareness of healthy lifestyles has encouraged more people to engage in physical activity, particularly exercise programs aimed at reducing body fat. However, there is still debate regarding which type of exercise is more effective for improving body composition. This study aimed to analyze and compare the effectiveness of strength training and cardio training on body fat reduction among members of Bodyhaus Gym in Semarang. This research employed a quantitative experimental approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 gym members who were participating in a weight-loss program. Data were collected through body composition measurements using a Body Composition Analyzer, including body fat percentage, body weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and muscle mass before and after a one-month training program conducted four times per week. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test followed by nonparametric tests, including the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann–Whitney U Test. The results showed that both strength training and cardio training significantly affected body fat reduction. Cardio training was more effective in reducing body weight, BMI, and body fat percentage, whereas strength training was more effective in increasing muscle mass. In conclusion, both training methods contribute to improving body composition, but each provides different physiological adaptations depending on the training objectives

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of central and regional government in providing sports facilities in educational institutions, identify obstacles to policy implementation, and examine international best practices. The study employed a descriptive literature review method, using PRISMA extraction sheet to select articles from Scopus, Tandfonline, and Google Scholar published between 2014 and 2024. The findings highlight three key aspects: (1) funding is the most decisive factor, with Nordic countries succeeding through stable fiscal decentralization, while Indonesia faces limited regional fiscal capacity; (2) institutional coordination influences policy effectiveness, as reflected in Spain's integrated governance model; and (3) integrating facilities with educational functions, as practiced in Japan, increases student participation. Indonesia's challenges in providing sports facilities stem not only from financial constraints but also from low policy priority and the absence of mandatory, structured cross-sectoral coordination mechanisms at both national and local levels. The study emphasizes the need for improved funding, institutional coordination, and integration of sports facilities with educational functions to promote physical activity and improve physical education in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

Maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂max) serves as primary indicator of cardiorespiratory capacity among active individuals and athletes. This literature review evaluates effectiveness of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) for enhancing VO₂max and aerobic capacity in healthy/active populations including active children, pre-hypertensive young adults, amateur runners, and artistic athletes. Literature searches conducted across Google Scholar, PEDro, PubMed (2020-2025) using keywords "inspiratory muscle training," "VO2max," "aerobic capacity." Five RCTs with IMT interventions (≥40% maximal inspiratory pressure) reporting VO₂max outcomes included. Five RCTs demonstrate IMT at 50-80% MIP over 4-8 weeks enhances inspiratory strength and aerobic capacity across populations. Active children showed clearest VO₂max gain (+12%); amateur runners exhibited dose-response lactate reduction; artistic athletes gained ventilatory efficiency and performance, pre-hypertensive young adults achieved largest gains (+15%). IMT recommended as complementary modality within cardiorespiratory programs using 50-80% MIP intensity, multiple weekly sessions, minimum 4-week duration. Further research with standardized protocols needed.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of variable distance and moving target training on football passing accuracy and compared it with conventional training. The study used an experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 16 football school players divided into an experimental group and a control group using the ordinal pairing technique. The experimental group received variable distance and moving target training, while the control group followed conventional training. Passing accuracy was measured using a football passing accuracy test based on the football skills test developed by Subagyo Irianto. Data were collected through pretest and posttest measurements. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, paired sample t tests, and independent sample t tests. The results show that variable distance and moving target training significantly improved passing accuracy with a t value of -9.029 and a significance value below 0.001. The analysis also shows a significant difference between the experimental and control groups with a t value of 3.870 and a significance value of 0.002. These results indicate that variable distance and moving target training are more effective than conventional training for improving football passing accuracy.

Abstract

Low levels of physical activity among adolescents remain a major global public health concern. One of the factors that may influence adolescents' engagement in physical activity and their physical fitness is physical literacy. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of physical literacy on the level of physical activity and physical fitness among adolescents. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional explanatory design. The participants of this study were 132 high school students aged 15–17 years from Advent High School Bandung using total sampling. Data were collected using the Perceived Physical Literacy Instrument (PPLI) to measure physical literacy, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to measure physical activity, and the Indonesian Physical Fitness Test (TKJI) to measure physical fitness. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results showed that physical literacy had a significant positive relationship with physical activity (r = .818, p < .001) and physical fitness (r = .904, p < .001). Regression analysis indicated that physical literacy significantly predicted physical activity (β = .818, t = 16.209, p < .001) with a coefficient of determination of R² = .669. In addition, physical literacy also significantly predicted physical fitness (β = .904, t = 24.178, p < .001) with a coefficient of determination of R² = .818. These findings indicate that adolescents with higher levels of physical literacy tend to have higher levels of physical activity and better physical fitness. Therefore, the development of physical literacy through physical education programs is essential to promote active lifestyles and improve physical fitness among adolescents.
