Abstract

This study aims to examine research trends related to the influence of social media on athletes’ mental health using a bibliometric analysis approach. A bibliometric trend analysis was conducted using data retrieved from the Scopus database. A total of 261 documents published between 2014 and 2025 were analyzed with VOSviewer to identify publication growth, author productivity, geographical distribution, collaboration networks, and keyword co-occurrence patterns. The results reveal a substantial increase in research output over the past decade, indicating growing academic interest in this topic. Key themes frequently addressed include mental health, fan engagement, self-presentation, anxiety, and psychological support for athletes. Research contributions are predominantly led by developed countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, highlighting strong international collaboration, while developing regions remain underrepresented. Keyword analysis demonstrates the dual role of social media, functioning both as a source of psychological pressure through criticism and social comparison, and as a platform for support and positive social interaction. In conclusion, the impact of social media on athletes’ mental health represents an evolving research field that requires broader global perspectives and multidisciplinary approaches to inform effective policies and interventions in the digital sports environment.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of plyometric push-up training on arm power improvement in male volleyball extracurricular athletes at SMA PL Don Bosco Semarang. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach was employed. Ten male students were recruited through total sampling based on the following inclusion criteria: actively participating in volleyball extracurricular activities for a minimum of three months, physically healthy, and free from musculoskeletal injury. Arm power was assessed using the Medicine Ball Chest Pass Test (MBCPT) with a 2–3 kg medicine ball; the best distance from three valid trials was recorded as the subject's score. The plyometric push-up training programme was conducted over six weeks at a frequency of three sessions per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), progressing from basic plyometric push-ups through clap push-ups, medicine ball push-ups, and explosive push-ups. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied. Data normality was verified using the Shapiro–Wilk test (p > 0.05). The paired-samples t-test revealed a pre-test mean of 4.305 m (SD = 0.756) and a post-test mean of 5.632 m (SD = 0.944), yielding a mean improvement of 1.327 m (30.82%). The t-statistic was 6.134 (df = 9, p = 0.000), exceeding the critical value of t(0.05, 9) = 2.262. Accordingly, the null hypothesis was rejected. These findings confirm that a six-week plyometric push-up programme produces a statistically significant and practically meaningful increase in arm power in adolescent male volleyball athletes.

Abstract

Video media serves as a powerful instructional tool, effectively presenting materials through an integration of visual and auditory elements that enhance student engagement and retention. This study aims to assess the impact of animated versus non-animated video media on the cognitive learning outcomes of Grade XI students at MAN 1 Bekasi. Employing a quasi-experimental design utilizing a Two Groups Pretest–Posttest approach, the research conducted cluster sampling across eight classes. Data were gathered through a validated multiple-choice. The statistical analysis demonstrated that both animated (Z = -7.711, p < 0.05) and non-animated (Z = -9.813, p < 0.05) videos significantly improved student learning outcomes. However, the Mann-Whitney U test (U = 33525.500, p = 0.763 > 0.05) indicated no significant difference in effectiveness between the two media types. Consequently, both animated and non-animated videos are equally effective in enhancing cognitive achievement. This finding suggests that educators have the flexibility to utilize either format to achieve comparable pedagogical results in physical education

Abstract

Youth soccer talent identification programs are foundational to long-term athlete development, yet systematic empirical scrutiny of regional programs in developing countries remains limited. To address this, a preliminary analysis was conducted using a descriptive mixed-methods design, drawing on field observation, official athlete registry documents, quarterly physical condition reports, and competition records from 18 active male athletes aged 15–17 years. A complete absence of Q3-born athletes (July–September) was confirmed statistically significant via binomial test (p = .006, w = .577), suggestive of maturational bias consistent with the Relative Age Effect. While explosive power improved consistently across all position groups, aerobic capacity (VO2Max) remained largely stagnant throughout the monitoring period. Beyond physical development, technical assessment relied predominantly on subjective coach evaluation without standardized instruments, limiting the objectivity of talent identification decisions. These gaps across selection methodology, aerobic development, and assessment objectivity collectively justify a full-scale CIPP evaluation, which should employ structured interviews, validated questionnaires, and direct observation across all four CIPP components to generate evidence-based program improvement recommendations.

Abstract

Observations from the 2025 Semarang City Championship indicate that pencak silat athletes rely on Rapid Weight Loss (RWL), which triggers psychological stress, mental turmoil, and emotional instability. The consequences include impaired focus and premature fatigue. This study aims to analyze the influence of the affective, cognitive, and conative psychological aspects of athletes who practice RWL on their competition performance to address mental management challenges during competition. The research design used in this study is quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study consists of pencak silat athletes from the Dragon Fighter Club, with a sample size of 12 athletes. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire. This questionnaire presented statements regarding psychological aspects such as affective (emotional), cognitive (focus and self-confidence), and conative (motivation and mental fatigue). Findings regarding the affective aspect indicate that athletes agreed with the variables of mood (r=2.5) and self-confidence (r=2.91), but disagreed regarding emotional control (r=2.33) and response to provocation (r=2.25). Cognitively, athletes agreed on focus (r=2.67) and reaction time (r=2.58), but disagreed regarding concentration (r=1.83) and memory (r=2.5). The conative aspect showed strong agreement regarding discipline (r=3.33), enthusiasm (r=3.83), and perseverance (r=3.5), though athletes disagreed regarding motivation (r=2). The analysis concluded that the affective aspect of pencak silat athletes was emotionally impacted in the mood dimension due to rapid weight loss. Cognitively, athletes experienced slower reaction times and reduced response speed during competition. However, the conative aspect showed no significant impact on motivation and mental fatigue. A limitation of this study is the lack of specific prior research, so the results remain subjective.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate a beach-based educational game model as an intervention to enhance the creativity of elementary school-aged children in the coastal areas of Banten and the city of Jakarta. The study employs a quasi-experimental approach with a non-randomized control group design, involving two groups: an intervention group that participated in the beach educational game program and a control group that continued with conventional learning methods. Creativity was measured using a valid instrument that assessed several dimensions of creativity: fluency (idea generation), originality, flexibility (flexibility of thinking), elaboration (depth of detail), and risk-taking (willingness to try new things). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) to account for demographic variables and coastal environmental conditions. The results indicate that the beach-based educational game model significantly enhances children’s creativity dimensions, with the greatest improvements observed in flexibility and originality. A stronger effect was evident in the coastal areas of Banten compared to Jakarta, likely due to direct access to the beach enviro.

Abstract

This study investigates how physical literacy affects students' quality of life while studying physical activity and resilience as intermediate factors. The research used a cross-sectional design to study 350 active students from West Bandung Regency who were chosen through random sampling. Data collection for the research study was conducted using four instruments which included the Perceived Physical Literacy Instrument (PPLI) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) and the Indonesian Resilience Scale and the WHOQOL-BREF. The researchers used PROCESS Macro for SPSS Model 6 to conduct their data analysis which needed bootstrap resampling with 5,000 samples to assess direct and indirect relationships. The findings showed that physical literacy functions as a significant predictor for both physical activity and resilience (p < 0.001) whereas physical activity acts as a significant predictor for resilience (p < 0.001). The study found that physical activity and resilience both improve quality of life while resilience makes the largest positive impact. The study found that physical literacy did not produce a direct impact on quality of life because the results showed no significant relationship (p > 0.05). The study identified significant indirect effects which demonstrated that physical activity and resilience function as complete mediators between physical literacy and quality of life. The research shows that students need to develop physical literacy through physical activity and resilience training because this process will enhance their overall quality of life.

Abstract

Low participation in physical activity is a global issue that is often rooted in the failure of conventional Physical Education (PJOK) in building students' interest in learning from an early age. This study aims to analyze the influence of the physical fitness collaboration game model (KOKEMAN) on PJOK learning interest in elementary school students. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent control group design involving 20 grade V students at SDN Rancakalong. Interventions were carried out in 14 meetings with tested protocols. Data was collected through a validated interest questionnaire with an expert judgment score of 94% and a reliability of 0.801. The results of the Paired Samples T-Test showed a very significant increase in the experimental group with a significance value (p=0.000). Furthermore, analysis of the N-Gain score showed that the experimental group achieved an increase of 48% in the medium category, far exceeding the control group which only reached 10% in the low category. In conclusion, Kokeman's game model has proven to be effective in significantly increasing students' interest in learning through the creation of a joyful learning environment. These findings confirm that the integration of structured play elements from an early age is a crucial preventive step to prevent understanding gaps and low interest in movement that can persist into adulthood.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of Central Java Kabaddi athletes to the rules of the National Style number match at the 2025 POMNAS. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a total sampling technique, involving 24 athletes as respondents. The research instrument is in the form of a five-level Likert scale structured questionnaire prepared based on the official regulations of the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF). The data was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques in the form of percentages. The results showed that the level of athlete understanding was in the good category with a percentage of 81.53%. Most of the athletes are in the good and very good category, although there are still a small number in the fair category. These findings show that athletes have an adequate understanding of the rules of the game, both from technical and non-technical aspects, but are not optimally evenly distributed. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the level of understanding of Central Java Kabaddi athletes towards the rules of the National Style number match is in the good category, so efforts are needed to improve through more systematic socialization and coaching to achieve a more optimal level of understanding.
