Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation process of the problem-based learning model in teaching how to write observation report texts in class, as well as to identify whether the application of the problem-based learning model can enhance students' interest in learning this material. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The data sources for this study are 28 students from class VIII Sains 3 at MTs Negeri Surakarta 1. The data collected were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis to describe the situation and learning process. The results of the study show that the application of the problem-based learning model in teaching observation report texts has a significant positive impact on students' learning interest. This model was proven effective in addressing the problems faced by students, such as boredom in learning and difficulty in composing systematic and clear texts. The level of student engagement during the learning process was very high, as reflected in the enthusiasm of students to ask questions and actively participate in each stage of the learning process. The implications of this study also provide insights for educators and policymakers in designing more innovative and student-centered teaching methods to improve the quality of education in schools.

Abstract

The importance of using the right punctuation in writing Observation Report (LHO) texts is one aspect that needs to be considered in the Indonesian language learning process at the secondary school level. This study aims to identify errors in the use of punctuation in the Observation Report (LHO) text based on a phonological perspective, and to determine the types of errors in the use of punctuation in the LHO text of class X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, with the technique of listening and writing, to analyze errors in the use of punctuation in the LHO of students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. Based on data analysis, this study describes the existence of language errors in the phonological aspect related to the use of punctuation. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that class X students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta still make errors in the use of punctuation according to the correct rules when writing LHO texts. The factors that cause these errors include lack of mastery of linguistic rules, inaccuracy in writing, low motivation to write, and lack of knowledge and interest in the use of punctuation. To overcome this problem, efforts made include providing an understanding of punctuation and its proper use, and increasing the frequency of writing practice

Abstract

Spelling errors are one of the main problems that are often found in the writing skills of junior high school students, so analysis is needed to understand the types of errors and the factors that cause them. This study is a qualitative descriptive research that aims to identify the types of spelling errors contained in the description text of students and analyze the causative factors in the description text of grade IX students in one of the junior high schools in Kartasura. The research data is in the form of 29 student description texts. Data collection techniques include reading the text repeatedly, understanding the meaning of each sentence, recording the findings of errors in the sentence, classifying the types of errors, and recapitulating the number of spelling errors found. The results showed that there were 200 spelling errors divided into five main categories: capital letters (45%), punctuation (26%), prepositions (11%), abbreviations (10%), and rewords (8%). The most mistakes occur in capital letters and punctuation. Factors that cause errors include a lack of understanding of PUEBI rules, the influence of informal language, and a lack of writing practice. Based on the findings, it is hoped that teachers can use more effective learning strategies and provide constructive feedback to improve students' understanding and writing skills according to Indonesian rules.

Abstract

Javanese language learning includes song material which contains words that are difficult for students of Keas XI at PGRI Laboratory High School Semarang. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the Tebak Kata type cooperative learning model in improving the ability of XI students at PGRI Laboratory Semarang High School in understanding the content of the macapat song. This research is a true experimental type of research. The population used in this research was all 92 students at SMA PGRI Semarang Laboratory. The sample taken in this research was a purposive sampling technique which resulted in 22 classes XI IPS 1 being the control class and 24 XI IPA 2 being the experimental class. The research instrument uses tests in the form of pretest-posttest questions and non-tests in the form of observations and interviews. The results of this research, seen from the results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test, show that there is an increase in the experimental and control classes. In the effectiveness test using the N-gain percent test, the experimental class was included in the "Medium" category, while the control class was included in the "Less Effective" category. It can be concluded that the Tea Party Guess the Word type cooperative learning model is effective for improving skills in understanding the content of Macapat songs compared to using conventional learning models. This learning model tends to be one-way, so students are less active in the learning process

Abstract

Education plays a very important role in shaping the character of each individual, making them able to interact and communicate well in various environments. One factor that greatly influences the quality of education is students' abilities and interests in literacy activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of reading corners in increasing students' interest in reading at SMP N 1 Gatak in order to support the School Literacy Movement (GLS). Using qualitative descriptive methods and a phenomenological approach was used to understand the experiences of students and teachers related to the use of reading corners. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed using data reduction techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that reading corners were effective in encouraging students to read more, both independently and in scheduled activities in class. This program also plays a role in creating an environment that supports reading habits and improves students' literacy skills. However, challenges such as limited book collections and the influence of technology are obstacles in managing reading corners. However, the application of digital technology and the development of more structured literacy programs can overcome these problems. Therefore, corners have proven to be an effective means of strengthening student literacy and developing a reading culture in schools.

Abstract

The MBKM class of the Department of Regional Language Education UNY is attended by students from various language and cultural backgrounds. The lack of mastery of Javanese language is the main factor causing language errors. This study aims to describe the language errors of MBKM class students. The instrument of this research is the researcher himself with the help of data cards. The data studied are words, phrases, clauses, sentences that deviate from the standard rules/paramasastra of Javanese language. The method used is descriptive-qualitative research method of content analysis technique. The data were collected through reading and recording techniques, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's qualitative data analysis method. The validity used is the credibility test. The results showed that language errors arose due to the imposition of Indonesian elements that were translated into Javanese, lack of vocabulary, and the use of machine translation. In terms of phonology, there are 43% errors in writing vowel phonemes, 36% errors in writing consonant phonemes, 7% errors in adding consonants, 14% errors in reducing consonants. In terms of morphology, there are 32% affixation errors, 26% diction errors, 22% repetition errors and 20% compounding errors. In terms of syntax, there are 67% sentence writing errors, 16% clause writing errors, and 17% phrase writing errors. The results of the study are used as the basis for mapping errors in Javanese language, then it can be implemented as a signpost for writing Javanese sentences for MBKM class students.

Abstract

The background of this study is based on the importance of improving the quality of learning in line with the demands of the 21st century, particularly in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study aims to explain the use of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based questions in the summative assessments ASAT (Javanese Language) for the 2022/2023 academic year and ASAS (Javanese Language) for the 2023/2024 academic year, as well as to compare the percentage of HOTS questions between the two. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with data sources consisting of ASAT and ASAS question sheets, analyzed using an interactive model involving data collection, data condensation, data display, and drawing conclusions. The research data consists of multiple-choice and essay items. The results show that in both assessments, there are still some questions that do not fully meet HOTS criteria, and there are inaccuracies in the selection of Operational Verbs (KKO). However, in general, the stimuli used are educational, varied, inspiring, and contextual. The percentage of question levels shows that in ASAT, the distribution is 20% LOTS, 35.56% MOTS, and 44.44% HOTS; whereas in ASAS, the distribution is 8% LOTS, 38% MOTS, and 54% HOTS. The conclusion of this study is that the ASAS summative assessment questions show a higher tendency to implement HOTS-based questions compared to ASAT.

Abstract

The degradation of local cultural values, particularly *unggah-ungguh* (Javanese etiquette), has become an urgent issue that needs to be addressed. One possible response is through engaging educational media that make learning *unggah-ungguh* easier for children to understand. This study aims to develop *Ayu lan Bagus* animation as a learning medium that incorporates the characters Ayu and Bagus to teach *unggah-ungguh* to elementary school students, while also preserving Javanese culture. The research method involves animation film development, including pre-production, production, and post-production stages. To enhance its effectiveness, the process is supported by the Design Thinking approach (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test). The animation is designed using motion graphic techniques that are feasible for small teams and offer high sustainability. The *Ayu lan Bagus* episode on *unggah-ungguh* was tested at SDN Kebonagung, Imogiri, Bantul, involving 40 students from grades 1–2 and 5 teachers. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively to measure the effectiveness and acceptance of the media. The results show that the *Ayu lan Bagus* animation successfully attracted students' interest and received positive responses from the trial participants. Teachers also provided constructive feedback, stating that this medium is effective for Javanese language learning. The conclusion of this study indicates that the *Ayu lan Bagus* animation is feasible for further development as a fun and effective learning medium to instill local cultural values in the younger generation.

Abstract

Language skills consist of speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills. This study focuses on the ability to write Javanese krama alus in the Javanese language subject at the junior high school level. This study aims to determine the level of writing skills and analysis of junior high school students using Javanese krama alus. The subjects of this study were two classes of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 20 Semarang. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Huberman analysis model. The data validity technique uses triangulation techniques. The purpose of this study is to measure students' Javanese writing skills as an evaluation in learning Javanese to improve students' language uploads. The results of this study show that students' writing skills are in the sufficient category. There are errors in students' writing at the phonology, morphology, syntax, and orthography levels. Errors at the phonology level include vowel phoneme errors of 51%, consonant phoneme errors of 31%, and consonant omissions of 18%. The morphology level includes reduplication errors of 19%, Indonesian diction errors of 39%, krama diction errors of 31%, and infixes of 11%. Next, the syntax level includes ineffective single sentences of 11%. Finally, the orthography level includes capitalization errors of 43% and punctuation errors of 45%. The implication of this research is that it can detect error patterns, teachers can identify specific areas that are difficult for students to understand, teaching is more effective and focused, this research can also provide valuable input for the preparation of textbooks.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the education of religiosity in the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript through isbat (unen-unen), which is a classical manuscript representing Sufi teachings in the context of Nusantara Islam. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using a grammatical hermeneutic approach. The data for this research is the text of the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript. This research will collect all the educational values found within the Syattariyah Merbabu manuscript by analyzing the text translation in detail. The results of this study found that the educational structure in the manuscript includes four main stages: sharia, tarekat, hakikat, and makrifat. The educational process is not only normative but also transformative through remembrance (dzikir), meditation (samadi), and spiritual guidance. The spiritual ethics taught in the texts through self-discipline, control of desires, and the purification of speech and thoughts hold strong character education values, in line with the spirit of integrative Islamic education. The relevance of these teachings to contemporary Islamic education shows that the local Sufi heritage can be adapted to shape character and spiritual awareness in the modern educational world.
