Abstract

Character education is an important aspect that needs to be considered in the world of education. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Sari Satu program in developing the leadership spirit of fourth-grade students at Siwalan Elementary School. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects were the principal, teachers, and fourth-grade students at Siwalan Elementary School. Research data were obtained from interviews, questionnaires, and observations. Data analysis techniques in this study consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The Sari Satu program is a short-term leadership rotation that provides students with the opportunity to take on the role and responsibility of a leader. This program is able to create a real-life simulation where students gain leadership skills that can be applied in life through direct experience. This is in accordance with the Javanese expression, namely Memayu Hayuning Bawana, Ambrasta dur Angkara. The meaning of this expression relates to the responsibility and role of a leader. "Memayu Hayuning Bawana" means striving to create prosperity and beauty in the world, while "Ambrasto dur Hangkoro" means eliminating all evil and injustice. The Sari Satu program effectively develops students' leadership skills. Challenges within the program need to be addressed and solutions sought. The Sari program has the potential to be developed to shape a generation with character and leadership.

Abstract

Gender equality education in literature learning is becoming increasingly significant due to the growing awareness. Gender equality education in literature learning has become increasingly important due to the growing awareness of gender stereotypes and biases within educational settings. This article examines how Serat Candrarini, as a classical Javanese literary text, represents gender relations through patterns of binary opposition and explores its implications for gender-equitable education. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method using content analysis and a feminist deconstruction approach. The findings indicate that gender relations in the text are constructed through oppositions such as active–passive, high–low, and rational–emotional, positioning women in a subordinate role. However, the text also reveals small spaces that allow for critical readings of patriarchal values. These findings underscore the importance of reflective literature learning that fosters shifts in perspectives toward gender equality. Integrating gender perspectives into the curriculum and teaching methods is an essential step in cultivating awareness of educational equality. Further research is recommended to explore other traditional texts and to develop practical, gender-based literacy learning modules.

Abstract

Based on the documentation study of AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) scores and preliminary interviews with AKM supervisors, it was found that the reading literacy ability of students at SMPN 1 Baureno is still relatively low. This study aims to: (1) analyze the needs for the Sinau Karakter Lumantar Sinau Karakter Lumantar Dongeng  book; (2) develop a prototype of the Sinau Karakter Lumantar Sinau Karakter Lumantar Dongeng  book; and (3) describe the validation of the Sinau Karakter Lumantar Sinau Karakter Lumantar Dongeng  book. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Baureno using the 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) research and development model developed by Thiagarajan. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and questionnaires, while data analysis was carried out using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results of the study indicate that the low reading literacy among students is caused by the lack of engaging, contextual, and culturally based fiction reading materials. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a book based on local Bojonegoro folktales for seventh-grade students. The prototype of the Sinau Karakter Lumantar Sinau Karakter Lumantar Dongeng book was designed in alignment with the national curriculum in the form of a printed book containing 16 local folktales, discussion activities, AKM-based exercises, and 14 character education values. The validation test results showed a very high level of feasibility, with scores of 97% for material validation, 94% for teaching material, and 93% for media. This study demonstrates that the Sinau Karakter Lumantar Sinau Karakter Lumantar Dongeng book is suitable for use as a learning medium to improve students’ reading literacy and instill character values. The use of this book can also serve as an alternative teaching material that is contextual and relevant to the local culture within the school environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the stratification of Javanese language use in rural communities in East Java and analyze its implications for Javanese language learning. This research is motivated by changes in the use of Javanese by the younger generation, which can weaken the value of polite language in social interactions. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, and data collection was conducted through interviews and observations. Data were obtained from several sources from several villages in East Java. The Communication Accommodation Theory (Giles) was used to study the patterns of convergence, divergence, and over-accommodation in language use. Data analysis was carried out through presentation, drawing conclusions, and reduction. The results of the study indicate that social status, age, and situational context influence the choice of Javanese language speech level. Divergence appears as an expression of the identity of the modern generation, the process of linguistic convergence shows the efforts of young speakers to adapt to societal standards of politeness. This study found that the use of Javanese is a social mechanism for determining closeness, status, and cultural identity, not just a linguistic system. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of learning polite language based on social context in formal education. By using these findings, teachers can create learning models that emphasize the social function of Javanese so that students understand not only the structure of the language but also the values of politeness and respect contained within it.

Abstract

This study addresses the significant challenge of low student motivation and achievement in cerkak (Javanese shortstory) writing at SMK Negeri 2 Depok Sleman, where 73.5% of Class XI students failed to meet the MinimumCompleteness Criteria (KKM). Utilizing the principles of sociocultural mediation and intrinsic motivation, thisClassroom Action Research (CAR), employing the Kemmis and McTaggart model, aimed to enhance students’writing skills by using music video clips from the popular popdut band, Ndarboy Genk, as an inspiring and culturallyrelevant medium. The research was structured across pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, with data collected fromobservations and quantitative analysis of student writing products. The findings show a progressive and significantimprovement: student mastery increased from 26.47% (average score 68) in the pre-cycle to 67.65% (average score73) in Cycle I, culminating in 85.29% mastery (average score 78) in Cycle II. The improvement between cycles wasattributed to the corrective actions taken, notably enhanced teacher scaffolding focusing on narrative structure, improved time management, and better technical preparation. The cultural and contextual relevance of the NdarboyGenk media proved highly effective in boosting student engagement, serving as a powerful creative stimulus thatfacilitated theme development and emotional depth in their narratives. This study concludes that implementingculturally relevant audiovisual media, such as Ndarboy Genk's video clips, is an effective and innovativepedagogical strategy for significantly improving both the technical skills and engagement in Javanese languagewriting. It demonstrates the critical role of popular culture in acting as a motivational scaffold within local languageeducation.

Abstract

The primary goal of education is to develop the skills of each student. These skills will be invaluable in the future. One skill essential for preserving Balinese culture is writing on palm leaves, also known as nyurat lontar. Nyurat lontar is practiced in schools. Encouraging this requires various aspects, one of which is the learning model. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the Cooperative Learning model type STAD on the writing skills of class X students in SMA Negeri 1 Pupuan. This study selected a population of class X, comprising a total of 267 students, and took a sample of class X6 as the control class and class X8 as the experimental class. This study employs a quantitative research approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a nonequivalent control group design. The selected experimental class group will receive treatment, while the control class will not. The final value will be compared to determine whether the treatment given by the researcher has an effect on the Cooperative Learning model type STAD's impact on the skills of Nyurat Lontar in that class. Based on the posttest results, it is known that the hypothesis test of the Independent Samples Test of Lontar Writing skills obtained a significance (2-tailed) of 0.000. The basis of decision-making is that if p-value (2-tailed) < 0.05, then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This indicates that Ha is accepted, which suggests that the Cooperative Learning model type STAD has an impact on the long-term writing skills of class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Pupuan. With the STAD type of cooperative learning model, the practical activity of nyurat lontar becomes easier to implement, and this activity can be useful for preserving culture so that it does not disappear alongside the development of the times.
