Abstract

Seeing the learning conditions in class XI BDP SMK Negeri 1 Slawi has not implemented the PBL model optimally and does not involve student activities. When learning takes place, it is still centered on the teacher and students tend to be passive. This has an impact on the lack of development of student's critical thinking skills during learning. The purpose of this study was to test and analyze the effectiveness of the application of the problem-based learning model assisted by animated videos in improving students' critical thinking skills. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was students of class XI BDP SMK Negeri 1 Slawi. The sample of this study was students of class XI BDP 2 as the control class and class XI BDP 4 as the experimental class using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques were tests, observations, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques used independent samples t-test and n-gain tests with SPSS Statistic 25 software. The results of the independent samples test showed a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.042 <0.05 meaning Ha was accepted. So, there is a difference in the average results between the experimental class and the control class. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the application of the problem-based learning model assisted by animated videos is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving era of information technology, students’ comprehension of the Introduction to Information Technology course at Pignatelli Triputra University is becoming increasingly vital. This course, which lays the foundation for understanding technologies such as computers, informatics, information systems, and electronics, demands up-to-date digital resources. However, observations indicate that students often struggle with complex topics such as scheduling in operating systems, the relational model in databases, and computer architecture. For instance, the topic of scheduling involves grasping algorithms like Round Robin and First Come, First Serve. To address these challenges, a self-directed learning initiative was implemented, incorporating independent assignments that yielded satisfactory results. Nevertheless, difficulties persist in the Final Semester Examination due to a lack of consistent practice and engagement with the semester’s course material. This study aims to develop tailored approaches to optimize students’ understanding of Introduction to Information Technology. A strategic improvement is required to enhance the effectiveness of self-directed learning, making it more suitable for students.

Abstract

Reading is one of the skills that students must have. Students who don't like reading could have a bad impact on other people. For educators, increasing interest in reading is a struggle. Basically, because the material that students read is only printed books full of writing, their interest in reading becomes less. More impressive media is needed to arouse elementary school students' interest in reading. Students become engaged during reading when they discover charming illustrations and various writing fonts in books. Instructors must be more creative in creating reading materials for their students. For example, they might create digital comic learning materials that provide a different reading aesthetic than traditional books. This research takes a closer look at how innovation modifies conventional comic-based learning media into digital comics because the learning material delivered and interspersed with digital comic media can attract students' attention and trigger their passion for reading. This kind of research uses qualitative literature study techniques. The main source of information is in library

Abstract

Phubbing is a behavior that does not respect the other person by choosing to focus on playing with a smartphone when the other person invites him to communicate. Phubbing when done continuously will damage the quality of social relationships. The aimed of this research is to test the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring technique group counseling to eradicate phubbing behavior in class VIII students of SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta in the 2023/2024 academic year. This experimental study used Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects were 14 class VIII students of SMP Kristen 1 Surakarta who were divided into two groups, namely 7 students in the experimental group and 7 students in the control group. Data collection used a closed questionnaire on phubbing behavior to obtain pretest and posttest scores. The experimental group was given cognitive restructuring technique group counseling treatment and the control group was given group counseling without a specific approach and technique. Each group was given treatment for two meetings. The results of the analysis using the Mann Whitney test showed a significance value of 0.395 (0.395 > 0.05) on the pretest score, which means there is no significant difference in the initial condition of the pretest score of phubbing behavior, while the posttest score gets a significance value of 0.008 (0.008 <0.05) which means there is a significant difference from the posttest score between the experimental group and the control group. The difference in scores is the result of providing cognitive restructuring technique group counseling treatment to the experimental group. The Gain score results in the experimental group, namely an average of 7.85 and the control group an average of 3.14. It is known that the average gain score is higher in the experimental group that received cognitive restructuring technique group counseling treatment. This means that cognitive restructuring technique group counseling is effective in eradicating phubbing behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of group guidance using bibliotherapy techniques to enhance the psychological well-being of 11th-grade students at SMA Batik 1 Surakarta for the 2023/2024 academic year.  The research employed a Quasi-Experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design.  The study was conducted over three sessions. The subjects were 11th-grade students at SMA Batik 1 Surakarta during the 2023/2024 school year, comprising 16 students divided into groups with 4 students each classified as having low and moderate psychological well-being scores.  Data collection used a psychological well-being scale adapted from Carol D.  Ryff Data analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test with SPSS version 26. The analysis revealed that the average pretest score was 225.25, while the average posttest score was 236.38.  Hypothesis testing with the Mann-Whitney test, due to the non-normal distribution of data, yielded a result of 1.000, indicating that the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value was greater than 0.05. Consequently, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected, suggesting no significant difference in psychological well-being scores between the two groups post-treatment. The summary of pretest and posttest data for the experimental group showed an increase of 89 points after the treatment.  However, the control group also exhibited an increase of 164 points, indicating a larger improvement compared to the experimental group.  Based on these findings, it was concluded that the bibliotherapy technique in group guidance was not effective in this study. Recommendations for using bibliotherapy in group guidance include: enhancing group dynamics, using bibliotherapy as an additional treatment, incorporating follow-up activities, selecting appropriate reading materials, considering participants' ability to project the underlying themes of the readings, and increasing the number of service sessions

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of Shalom Mawira's resistance in the Novel "Perempuan Yang Menunggu Di Lorong Menuju Laut" by Dian Purnomo and its relevance as a teaching material at SMP Darussalam Medan. This novel tells the story of the struggle of Shalom Mawira, a Sangihe woman who fights to defend a gold mine that will be exploited by the Biongo company in her homeland, which is represented as a form of resistance against the government's injustice in handling this case. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method to describe and analyze the form of resistance carried out by Shalom Mawira and the Sangihe community and relate it to the Indonesian language learning curriculum. By utilizing gender studies, the study shows that Shalom Mawira's resistance in this novel depicts courage, solidarity, and determination in facing pressure and injustice. In terms of relevance, this novel can be used as teaching material at SMP Darussalam Medan because it has the potential to increase awareness of protecting the environment and foster a sense of nationalism in students. In addition, it can also be a means to train critical literacy and appreciation of local culture. This research provides theoretical contributions to the study of literature and education, as well as practical benefits for students and teachers. For students, this novel can be an interesting learning medium to understand social and cultural issues, while for teachers, this research offers alternative innovative and contextual teaching materials.

Abstract

Independence is a crucial aspect of early childhood development, encompassing the ability to perform simple tasks independently, such as dressing oneself. This study aims to understand the learning process of children dressing themselves at TK Amal Insani, Sleman, Yogyakarta, including the factors influencing its success and the challenges encountered. A descriptive qualitative research method was employed, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that consistent routines and teacher support significantly improved children's independence. Initially, most children struggled to dress themselves without assistance; however, with appropriate approaches, their fine motor skills, confidence, and independence improved. Challenges remained, such as parental overindulgence at home, anxiety, and lack of confidence in some children. Teachers and parents played vital roles in this success by providing positive reinforcement, attentive supervision, and collaborative efforts between school and family. This research concludes that consistent routines and teacher-parent collaboration positively impact children's independence. The findings can serve as a reference for designing strategies to support early childhood independence in educational and family settings.
