Journal of Elementary Education (JELEDUC) aims to provide researchers with scholarly discourses, theories, research methods, and findings. Therefore, the journal accepts manuscripts related to all aspects of Elementary Education. It is also keen to help make connections among researchers. Journal of Elementary Education (JELEDUC) is intended to contribute to the field with academic research outcomes and disseminate knowledge about elementary education, including theories, quality of instruction, instructional planning, design, and technology from a disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary holistic approach, but it is not limited with these subjects. Journal of Elementary Education (JELEDUC) aims at: (1) Disseminating research findings, either in qualitative or quantitative inquiry; (2) Proposing new discussion directions and issues through literature reviews; (3) Emphasizing creative solutions to the existing problems and issues in the field; (4) Contributing to professional development by discussing research findings in a systematic way.

Abstract

Analysis of teacher understanding in collecting guidance and counseling data in elementary schools is very important for educators in knowing the character and needs of students. This research aims to determine the level of understanding of elementary school teachers in data collection techniques for guidance and counseling in lower grades. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The instruments in the research used teacher interview techniques and teacher observation, while the subject was a lower grade elementary school teacher. The results of this research are (1) knowing the types of data in counseling guidance in elementary schools, (2) teachers conducting an analysis of student needs in lower grades, (3) showing that the level of understanding of elementary school teachers regarding techniques for collecting counseling guidance data in the classroom low is good enough. Based on the results of this research, elementary school teachers are able to understand the types of counseling guidance data and data collection techniques. The suggestions from this research are that the research object is expected to be expanded and not limited to just one source.

Abstract

The background to the implementation of group guidance services at SDN Klagensrampat in the independent curriculum is useful for developing students' personal potential, and can also influence students' talents and interests to be further developed optimally. The aim of this research is that the Klagensrampat Elementary School group guidance service in the independent curriculum is useful for finding out how the implementation of counseling guidance at Kagensrampat Elementary School in the independent curriculum is useful for finalizing achievements in developing self-potential in these students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data source for this research is class 1 teachers. The instruments used are teacher interviews and teacher observations, namely using group guidance services. The conclusion of this research is that teachers provide group guidance to help students in the learning process and develop the potential of students' interests and talents.

Abstract

The background of the teacher's role in dealing with hyperactive children includes the teacher being a motivator, advisor as well as the teacher being a facilitator for children during learning. Hyperactive children tend not to want to be quiet and always run everywhere, disturbing their friends and others. The purpose of this study examines how the role of the teacher in dealing with hyperactive children. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. The instruments of this research are teacher interviews and student observations.  In this study also found several teacher techniques in dealing with hyperactive children, namely (1) by giving assignments to children so that the child has a sense of responsibility. (2) the teacher gives praise to hyperactive children if they complete the tasks given by the teacher. (3) the teacher also provides active activities for hyperactive children. The conclusion of this study is that the teacher has provided maximum counseling guidance to hyperactive children. Suggestions to further researchers can conduct research in other places.

Abstract

The aim of writing this article is to analyze the various character values contained in game games. Therefore, in this paper we discuss the potential for implementing games to strengthen the character values of elementary school students. The method for writing this article uses a literature review. Various literature related to the topic of discussion, namely character education, traditional games, and various character values in traditional games. This step was carried out to review the curriculum, legal basis, and research literature from various open access journal sources such as Sinta, ERIC, Google Scholar and then analyzed and synthesized so that a study could be taken that formulated various potential character values in traditional games. The analysis results show that, as a traditional game, games also have various character values. The following describes some of the values contained in games, namely: cooperation, leadership, mutual respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, discipline (obeying the rules), economic values, and togetherness.

Abstract

Analysis of teacher understanding in collecting guidance and counseling data in elementary schools is very important for teachers to know the character and needs of students. This research aims to determine teachers' understanding of high-class counseling guidance data collection techniques at SDN 2 Takeranklating. The research method uses descriptive qualitative methods. The subject of this research was the 5th grade teacher at SDN 2 Takeranklating. The instruments used were interviews and observations. The results of this research are (1) upper class teachers understand guidance and counseling data collection techniques, (2) the data collection technique used is non-cognitive diagnostic assessment, (3) teachers get data from various sources, (4) teachers have not carried out tests for data retrieval . Suggestions for future researchers are that the research object is expected to be expanded and not limited to just one source.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of recognition and understanding of teachers, students, and parents regarding various types of student learning styles. In addition, this research also aims to provide knowledge about the effect of learning style recognition on learning achievement to teachers, students, and even parents. The research method used is a literature study in which the author examines various journals, books, articles, theses, and previous studies on the influence of learning styles and learning difficulties. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the efforts that can be made by teachers, students, and parents in recognizing learning styles have a big influence on improving student achievement.
