Abstract

Food production derived from processed types of mangroves fruit does not appear to have been widely developed or in demand by the Muara Badak community. Many people are unaware that mangrove fruit can be consumed and used as food or snacks. The potential and benefits of mangroves as a food source are still unknown and underutilized. This activity aims to disseminate information about the benefits of various types of fruit processing mangroves into processed food products through socialization. Sonneratia ovata (Pedada), a variety of mangroves that grows abundantly on the river's edge in the village of Muara Badak Ulu, is one of them. This activity was carried out on farmers and communities in the Salo Sumbala watershed in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Muara Badak Subdistrict, and Muara Badak Ulu village. The approach taken in this activity is to lecture and provide knowledge about the many species of mangroves found in the vicinity of Muara Badak Ulu, particularly the Salo Sumbala watershed, which has the potential to produce processed food from mangrove fruit.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Kota Bangun is a subdistrict located in Kutai Kartanegara which has a large amount of swamp peat area. The area is commonly used for agricultural purposes. Nevertheless, a group of invasive plant species, Mimosa pigra, has been found with high domination in the area. Due to its characteristics, this species usually disturbs some farmer activities, especially when farmers did the land clearing process. Its high spread influences serious problems because it is considered one of the non commercial species. To solve the problems, technological innovation to utilize the M. pigra biomass is required. Therefore, we conducted a socialization to introduce the production process of charcoal with premium quality on a communal scale. We developed a standard operating procedure and accompanied them step-by-step until the charcoal product was successfully produced. The results showed that the farmers were enthusiastic when they joined the socialization. They were eager to implement the simulation steps. The charcoal product also had excellent properties for use as fuel, a material for water filtration from a nearby river or swamp in order to produce clean water and product charcoal. Keywords: Biomass, community training, premium charcoal, Mimosa pigra.

Abstract

Making tofu produces a large volume of waste, especially the liquid waste. This tofu liquid waste contains high protein which is easily decomposed quickly. If this liquid is discharged into the environment without prior treatment, it can cause a foul odor and an unpleasant atmosphere. Therefore, the purpose of this service activity is to process tofu liquid waste into organic fertilizer by fermentation. The fermentation process takes 15 days with the addition of EM4, brown sugar solution, and enough water. All ingredients are mixed and stirred evenly then put in a closed container. After about two weeks, the liquid organic fertilizer can be used for fertilizing plants by the community on Jalan Rejo Mulyo, RT. 31, Lempake Village, North Samarinda District. This activity involved 8 students of Mulawarman University Thematic Community Service Program. The form of activity carried out are directly visit the location to obtain data through interviews and observations, data processing, and making conclusion for devotion activities.

Abstract

To build a good business, good knowledge and skills are needed to develop a good business. In Indonesia, this business is dominated by small domestic industries and MSMEs that have not been managed properly. Maggots including fly larvae are high in animal protein. This high protein content has great potential as a supplement for breeding flies and black soldier fish. Uji also contains antifungal and antibacterial substances, so when ingested by fish, it is resistant to diseases caused by bacteria and fungi. Cultivation of maggot community was one of the maggot business communities in Samarinda which was formed by CV. Ahasa Larva Group which produces a lot of maggot for animal feed and organic fertilizer used for maggot (kasgot) from the residue of maggot feed. To be able to develop their business. This company needs insight and skills to build a business. The first step in the business section is the ability to calculate production costs. Preliminary research shows that these entrepreneurs need training because they have no record of how to calculate production costs and lack this insight. The benefits of this training help business actors to design production processes and identify production results and profits

Abstract

This activity intends to educate residents of Purwajaya Village with information, education, and awareness about the value of finding wood fossils in their area, and also provide input on the uses that can be made by the local residents who live near wood fossil finds. The discovery of the world's longest fossil wood log in Purwajaya Village, as well as in several other villages, attracts precious stone hunters and dealers who wish to dig up these historical natural resources assets to trade. If this trend continues, Borneo's botanical diversity would eventually decline. Most of the people are unaware of the hidden assets found in their village, namely fossil wood, and they are uninformed of the rewards they will receive if these assets are properly handled. The program took place in residential areas close to where the wood fossils were discovered, and it was entirely interactive. The activity stages include the presentation of wood fossils and continued discussions with residents. The results of the activity showed that the community's curiosity is very high, especially the people of Purwajaya Village towards the wood fossils found in their village, their history and its use. The activity went well, especially for the villagers as the participants from the Marga Mulya hamlet farmer group, Purwajaya Village. This can be seen from the discussion and the desire for similar activities to be carried out in the form of the practice of how to utilize fossil wood in the future.
