Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and students’ active participation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in Grade XI of SMK YASPI Labuhan Deli. Students’ active participation is one of the important indicators of successful learning, emphasizing students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor involvement. The PBL model was chosen because it positions students as the center of learning through contextual and meaningful problem-solving activities. This research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. The population of this study consisted of all Grade XI students of SMK YASPI Labuhan Deli, with the sample determined using an appropriate sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring the implementation of the PBL model and students’ active participation. Data analysis was conducted using statistical correlation techniques. The results indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model and students’ active participation in Islamic Religious Education learning. These findings suggest that the better the implementation of the PBL model, the higher the level of students’ active participation in the learning process. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning model is recommended as an effective alternative learning model to enhance students’ active participation in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Talqin, Tasmi’, Tafahum, Tikrar, and Murajaah method in Qur’an memorization learning at SMA Islam Al-Ulum Terpadu Medan. This 3T + 1M method is considered a comprehensive approach that enhances the students’ accuracy, retention, and understanding of Qur’an memorization. The research employs a qualitative field study design involving tahfiz teachers, students, and supporting documentation of the tahfiz program. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the Talqin method helps students acquire correct recitation from the beginning, Tasmi’ strengthens their ability to present memorized verses, Tafahum promotes deeper comprehension of the verses, Tikrar accelerates the memorization of new passages, and Murajaah maintains long-term retention. Overall, the implementation of this method is effective and significantly contributes to improving students’ Qur’an memorization quality. The study highlights the importance of structured and systematic strategies in tahfiz learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies implemented by Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in preventing deviant behavior among students at SMA Utama Medan. Deviant behavior among adolescents, such as violations of school rules, risky social interactions, and lack of discipline, has become a serious challenge in the educational context. Islamic Religious Education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ morality, religious attitudes, and social behavior. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with IRE teachers, and documentation of learning activities and religious programs at the school. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the strategies used by IRE teachers include value-based Islamic learning, teacher role modeling, habituation of religious activities, persuasive approaches and Islamic counseling, as well as collaboration with homeroom teachers and parents. These strategies contribute positively to the development of students’ religious character and to the prevention of deviant behavior at SMA Utama Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the patterns of students’ learning behavior in the Fiqh subject at MAS Al-Manar Medan. The research focuses on identifying the forms of learning behaviors displayed during the instructional process, the factors influencing these behaviors, and the teacher’s classroom management strategies in creating a conducive learning environment. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that students’ learning behaviors fall into three major categories: active behaviors such as asking questions and participating in discussions, passive behaviors such as listening without engagement, and irrelevant behaviors such as being unfocused or engaging in off-task activities. Factors influencing these behaviors include motivation, teacher’s instructional style, classroom atmosphere, and students’ learning readiness. The study recommends the use of active learning strategies to enhance students’ engagement in the Fiqh learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing group learning strategies to improve the academic performance of Grade XI Social Science students at MAPN Medan. The background of the study arises from the low level of student engagement and collaborative skills within traditional learning settings. A quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving an experimental class implementing group learning strategies and a control class using conventional lecture-based methods. Research instruments included achievement tests and student activity observation sheets. The findings reveal a significant improvement in the academic performance of students in the experimental class compared with those in the control class. Students also demonstrated enhanced learning engagement, communication skills, and cooperation throughout the learning process. These results indicate that group learning strategies are effective in improving student learning outcomes and academic performance. The study recommends applying similar strategies in other learning contexts to support more active, collaborative, and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model of akhlakul karimah development implemented by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers at MAS Al-Wardah. Moral development is a fundamental aspect of Islamic education that emphasizes not only the transfer of knowledge but also character formation aligned with Islamic moral values. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research utilizes observations, interviews, and documentation. The results reveal that PAI teachers implement several development models, including exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), habituation, advising (mau’izhah), disciplinary reinforcement, and emotional approaches. The exemplary model is the most dominant, as students tend to imitate the daily behavior of their teachers. Moreover, the integration of religious activities such as dhuha prayers, Qur’an recitation, and daily short sermons contributes significantly to shaping students' character. The study concludes that the success of akhlakul karimah development largely depends on teachers’ consistency in providing positive examples as well as the support of a conducive school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of interactive learning media in teaching jinayat fiqh material to students at MAN 3 Medan. Jinayat fiqh, as a branch of Islamic law dealing with criminal acts and their punishments, contains abstract and complex concepts that require innovative learning strategies to be effectively understood by students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative design with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the use of interactive learning media—such as animated videos, case simulations, and dynamic presentations—significantly enhances students’ understanding of jinayat fiqh concepts. Moreover, interactive media also improve students’ enthusiasm, participation, and analytical skills when examining Islamic legal cases. The study concludes that the application of interactive learning media is highly effective in assisting teachers to deliver jinayat fiqh material in a more engaging and comprehensible manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Community Service Program (KKN) in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Dusun III Helvetia. As a form of student community engagement, the KKN program plays a strategic role in providing religious education, character development, and community empowerment through teaching activities, training, and religious mentoring. This research employed a qualitative approach using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that the KKN program has a positive impact on enhancing the community’s religious literacy, particularly in aspects of worship understanding, moral strengthening, and community participation in religious activities. Moreover, the involvement of students as learning facilitators fosters a more innovative and interactive educational atmosphere. Thus, the KKN program is proven effective in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education in Dusun III Helvetia and can serve as a model for community guidance in other areas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for implementing religious moderation in the social life of the Bengabing Village community. Religious moderation is an essential concept in fostering social harmony, preventing conflict, and building an inclusive and tolerant society. This research employs a qualitative approach using field studies through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the main strategies for implementing religious moderation include strengthening the role of religious leaders, promoting collaboration between educational institutions and village authorities, and internalizing moderation values through religious and community-based activities. Additionally, local wisdom and cooperative cultural practices significantly contribute to creating a harmonious social environment. The study recommends developing sustainable religious moderation programs to maintain social stability and enhance intercommunity tolerance.
