Abstract

This study was conducted in Block “X” of the Pani Gold Project Area, Buntulia District, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, with the aim of examining the regional geological conditions, including geomorphology, stratigraphy, and geological structures. The methods applied consist of geological field mapping supported by petrographic analysis. The results indicate that the study area is divided into two main geomorphological units, namely a volcanic hill unit that dominates the area with undulating to steep morphology, and an alluvial plain unit developed along river systems. The stratigraphy of the study area comprises four lithological units, including granodiorite, diorite porphyry, dacite porphyry of Pliocene age, and alluvial deposits of Holocene age. The geological structures identified include fracture systems and normal faults with a sinistral (left-lateral) component trending northeast–southwest, as well as the presence of fault gouge and fault breccia indicating relatively intense deformation. Overall, the geological characteristics of the study area reflect a strong relationship between lithology, geomorphology, and structural controls in shaping the landscape development.

Abstract

The stunting rate in Indonesia remains a serious national nutritional concern, with one of its key determinants being insufficient animal protein intake among pregnant women. Catfish (Clarias sp.) is a local fishery commodity rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, and calcium, yet its utilization by pregnant women remains suboptimal due to limited nutritional knowledge. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women regarding the benefits of catfish consumption as an affordable source of animal protein to support fetal health and prevent stunting. Methods included interactive counseling, catfish cooking demonstrations, and distribution of educational leaflets at Jorong Pulau Air, Kanagarian Pulau Air Nan Sabaris, Padang Pariaman Regency, involving 32 pregnant women in trimesters I–III. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in nutritional knowledge (pre-test mean 52.3 increased to post-test mean 81.7 out of 100) and an increased willingness to regularly consume catfish. This activity is expected to serve as a community-based nutritional education model replicable in other regions to support the national program for stunting reduction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of slope gradient on the distribution of laterite profile thickness and nickel (Ni) grade in Bungku Pesisir District, Morowali. The research methods include surface geological mapping, petrographic analysis, and geochemical analysis using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). The results indicate that slope gradient is the primary controlling factor in the lateritization process. Gentle slopes tend to have thicker laterite profiles, reaching up to 31.2 m at TRT-19, whereas steeper slopes show significantly thinner profiles, approximately 10 m at TRT-35. In addition to morphometric factors, the presence of rock fractures enhances water infiltration, which in turn intensifies the leaching of chemical elements. The distribution of Ni grade reaches its maximum in the saprolite zone due to supergene enrichment processes controlled by groundwater mobility. It is concluded that the interaction between slope morphology and rock structure plays a significant role in controlling the distribution and quality of lateritic nickel deposits in the study area.
