Abstract

Indonesia ranks fifth globally in diabetes cases, with 19.5 million sufferers in 2021, projected to reach 28.6 million by 2045. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with serious complications such as retinopathy, nephropathy, and cardiovascular disorders that lower quality of life. A key challenge is the low awareness of early complication signs among patients and families. This community service program, held on January 25–28, 2025, at Mojowarno Christian Hospital, aimed to improve the knowledge and empowerment of DM Club members through interactive education, simulations, and role-plays. Post-test results showed a 35% increase in knowledge, with 85% of participants able to identify complication signs. However, 15% still showed limited understanding, highlighting the need for more targeted education. This program demonstrates that structured community-based education can effectively improve diabetes literacy and management. Similar initiatives should be expanded to reduce the impact of DM complications nationwide.

Abstract

Physics is a subject that contains several abstract concepts, one of which is the topic of light waves. This topic can be better understood through learning media to help students grasp the material more effectively. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Android-based mobile learning in physics, integrated with the 5E Learning Cycle model, as a support tool for teaching light wave material in senior high school. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating the percentage scores from expert validation, student responses, and evaluation tests. The results showed an average score of 73.95% from media experts, 89.65% from content experts, and 69.44% from language experts. The overall expert validation average was 77.68%, indicating that the media is suitable and usable in schools. Additionally, the average score from student response tests was 92.71%, reflecting a very positive reaction from students. Thus, this mobile learning media is adequate for teaching light waves to 11th-grade high school students. The findings imply that integrating pedagogically grounded digital tools into science education may enhance conceptual understanding, promote independent learning, and offer scalable alternatives for remote and blended learning scenarios.

Abstract

Philosophy of education plays a crucial role in shaping the foundation of thinking and action for elementary school educators. Teachers are not only instructors but also character builders, moral guides, and agents of social transformation. This study employs a literature review method by analyzing previous research on implementing educational philosophy in elementary education. The findings reveal that applying various philosophical perspectives—such as progressivism, idealism, essentialism, and perennialism provides clear direction for the learning process and supports the development of students’ critical thinking, reflective abilities, and integrity. Therefore, mastering the philosophy of education is essential for teachers to create meaningful, value-based, and future-oriented learning experiences.

Abstract

This study investigates the entrepreneurial practices of home economics teachers in Northeast Nigeria during periods of economic downturn, focusing on promoting family sustainability. The entrepreneurial ventures explored include handicrafts, small-scale food production, catering, tailoring, and financial literacy training, which refers to equipping teachers with knowledge and strategies for budgeting, savings, debt management, and small-scale financial planning to support microenterprises. A cross-sectional survey design was employed to capture the current state of entrepreneurial engagement. Data were collected using structured questionnaires from a stratified random sample of 200 home economics teachers (164 females and 36 males) across regional urban and rural locations. Descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations) and inferential statistics (chi-square test) were used for data analysis. Findings reveal a significant gender disparity in entrepreneurial engagement, with female teachers accounting for 82% of all entrepreneurial activities. Teachers who engaged in such activities reported higher family income, increased savings, reduced debt, better access to healthcare, and greater financial satisfaction. The study recommends targeted support from stakeholders to strengthen entrepreneurial training and financial resilience among home economics educators, thereby enhancing their contributions to family and community well-being.

Abstract

This evaluation research aims to examine the implementation of the Plus Program at Muhammadiyah Nitikan Elementary School through three dimensions: input, process, and output. The study adopts Stake’s Countenance Model of evaluation, focusing on how the program is designed, executed, and its resulting outcomes. A qualitative case study approach was used to explore the implementation in depth within its real-life educational context. Instead of a sample, the study identifies key informants—individuals who are most knowledgeable about the Plus Program—namely, the school principal, the program coordinator, and the religious studies teachers. Data were collected using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis, guided by the evaluation criteria aligned with the Plus Program standards defined by the Educational Council of Muhammadiyah Branch Leadership of Umbulharjo. The findings reveal that: (1) In the input phase, the program’s objectives are well-aligned with its vision, producing graduates who excel in academic performance, religious faith, and moral conduct. First-grade student admissions showed that 3.54% had begun reading the Qur'an, while 96.46% were at Iqro’ levels 1 to 6. The infrastructure is highly adequate, with Campus 1 having its mosque. The curriculum is structured and includes evaluation and follow-up mechanisms, although further efforts are needed to integrate it into a formalized school curriculum. (2) In the process phase, the program is systematically managed, involving all school stakeholders, and its implementation is well-coordinated through the Religious Plus Program structure. (3) In the output phase, 100% of sixth-grade students have completed the Iqro’ stage, while 77.47% have completed Qur'an memorization (tahfidz), leaving 22.53% who have yet to finish. Regarding non-academic outcomes, student achievements in various competitions indicate that talent development programs are running effectively.
