Abstract

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of collaborative Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approaches, whether carried out in group settings or in pairs, by examining student performance in understanding inverse matrix concepts, their proficiency in critical thinking, and their levels of anxiety. Using a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-post-test non-equivalent comparison-group design, the study focused on students from XI Science classes at Kasihan 1 State High School, with classes XI Science 2 and XI Science 3 selected randomly as samples. Pretest and post-test measures were administered to both groups, evaluating their performance in matrix learning, critical thinking, and anxiety levels. The effectiveness of collaborative PBL was analyzed using independent sample t-tests. Results indicated that collaborative PBL, whether in group or pair formats, led to improvements in students' achievement in inverse matrix learning, critical thinking skills, and a decrease in anxiety levels. Additionally, collaborative group PBL proved to be more effective than collaborative pair PBL across these variables.

Abstract

The point of this study is to show the results of an experiment that was done to see how well E-Kreatif, a creative reading resource for the General Course of Indonesian Language, worked. The goal was to help students get better at creative reading. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) research type according to Borg and Gall steps, including needs analysis, planning, development, product validity, revision, response test, revision, and final product. This article will focus on the description of the product effectiveness test. The experimental test in this study used a pre-test, post-test, control group design. The sample selection at this stage is based on two validities: the internal validity and the external validity. The research instruments used are product validity test instruments for experts, student response test instruments as a measure of product feasibility, and pretest and post-test instruments to test the effectiveness of creative e-books. We conducted the experimental test at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan. The product effectiveness test was carried out in 2 classes; the two classes were control and experimental, totaling 30 students: 15 control class students and 15 experimental class students. That's right, the post-test scores for the control and experimental classes were 0.001, which means that the null hypothesis (H0) is not true. This means that the students' creative literacy skills are very different after the treatment. Therefore, we can conclude that the developed teaching materials effectively enhance students' creative literacy skills.

Abstract

Curriculum changes are a common strategy to enhance the quality of education. The transition from the 2013 Curriculum to the Merdeka Curriculum requires teachers to be adequately prepared to comprehend changes in content, structure, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the new curriculum, particularly in the 2023-2024 academic year. This study aims to assess the readiness of teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum for English instruction in elementary schools. A qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on grade 1 and grade 4 teachers who have implemented the curriculum. Data collection methods included interviews, observations, and document analysis. The data analysis process followed three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings reveal that teachers demonstrate readiness in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, preparing lesson plans, and adapting to its new elements. Despite the introduction of new terms and curriculum structures, teachers are utilizing online resources and textbooks as primary teaching aids. However, challenges persist, particularly as English is now a core subject, and many teachers lack formal training in English language education. Additionally, while formative and summative assessments have been incorporated, diagnostic assessments at the beginning of the learning process remain underutilized, limiting teachers’ ability to assess students' prior knowledge and learning gaps. This study contributes to policy development and teacher training by highlighting the need for targeted professional development programs, particularly in English language education, and suggesting the importance of incorporating diagnostic assessments to better address students' learning needs from the outset.

Abstract

The research aims to determine: the philosophical, doctrinal, and sociological foundations behind the da'wah orientation; da'wah strategy; and the transformation of religious prayer Mafia congregations. This qualitative research uses the method of observation, documentation, and interviews. The results showed that: Gus Ali Gondrong with his Mafia Sholawat preferred the Bengali community as the object of his da'wah. Gus Ali Gondrong's da'wah strategy used various media including: physical media, verbal, and amaliah media. Sholawat accompanied by music and Sufi dances, the tausyiah conveyed by Gus Ali was non-judgmental and able to embrace the bengal community. Third, Gus Ali Gondrong's da'wah strategy uses Berger and Luckmann's theoretical framework by using a dialectical process experienced by humans through three momentums, namely: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. The transformation of the congregation is evidenced by changes in attitudes, behavior, and commitment to religious teachings; feel like a better human being, act the right way; as well as a change in the principle of religious life towards a more firm and clear direction. This research can contribute to development of more contextual and effective da'wah theories and strategies in dealing with ignorance, especially in the Javanese context.

Abstract

Semiotics in traditional architecture is a symbolic language that conveys meaning through specific forms. These symbols are central to communicating meaning, allowing traditional buildings to reflect cultural values beyond their physical appearance. This study explores the semiotic meanings embedded in lepo, the traditional houses of the Hewokloang community. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with indigenous stakeholders and direct observations at the study site. The findings reveal four main types of lepo in Hewokloang Village: Lepo Kirek, Lepo Hobat, Lepo Tana, and Lepo Musidole. Each lepo contains distinct symbolic elements expressed through its form, structure, and decorative details. These features are not merely aesthetic but are deeply rooted in the community's cultural values. Lepo Musidole features a carved figure of a man on its door leaf, symbolizing the individual who built the house. An umbrella-shaped roof ridge distinguishes Lepo Hobat, symbolizing its role as a place to prepare ceremonial materials. Meanwhile, Lepo Tana, constructed higher than the others, represents strength and authority. This study concludes that the symbolic elements of Hewokloang’s traditional houses are integral to understanding the community’s identity, beliefs, and social structure, demonstrating how architecture can serve as a cultural text that communicates meaning across generations.
