Abstract

This study explores the significant role of animated videos in enhancing students' learning motivation, grounded in the principles of motivational elements. Animated videos capture and sustain attention through visual appeal, engaging storytelling, interactivity, and emotionally engaging content. These elements make learning more relatable and enjoyable, leading to increased motivation and retention. Cognitive Load Theory posits that learners have a limited capacity for processing information, and animated videos can effectively manage the cognitive load by segmenting information, utilizing dual coding, and providing visual cues to guide attention. The successful development of a video-based learning medium on the Pythagorean theorem for eighth-grade students, created using the Renderforest application, demonstrates the practical application and potential of animated videos in education. The study suggests further development of such media into comprehensive, interactive applications to enhance students' learning motivation and understanding, highlighting the transformative potential of animation in educational settings.

Abstract

Transformational educational leadership is pivotal in the advancement of Muhammadiyah Schools, which aim to promote empowerment and social change as Islamic educational institutions. This research investigates the practices and effects of transformational educational leadership within Muhammadiyah schools. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through comprehensive interviews with principals, teachers, and staff from various Muhammadiyah schools in select regions. The analysis shows that transformational educational leadership in these schools is marked by a strong dedication to reinforcing Islamic identity, improving educational quality, and encouraging positive social change. School leaders serve as change agents, motivating and empowering staff and students to reach broader educational objectives. They employ inclusive and participatory methods, rooted in Islamic values, for decision-making and policy development. The effects of transformational educational leadership are evident in academic enhancement, character development, and the instillation of Islamic values-based character. Furthermore, fostering an inclusive and empowering school culture leads to harmonious relationships among the schools, students, teachers, and the community. This study offers a deeper insight into the role and practices of transformational educational leadership in Muhammadiyah schools. The practical implications highlight the necessity of bolstering leadership and credibility founded on Islamic values to improve educational quality and make meaningful societal contributions.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) method, assisted by card sort media, on enhancing creative thinking skills among fourth-grade students. The research design employed in this study is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test design. The research was conducted at SDN 15 Mataram, with a population of 40 fourth-grade students from two classes, consisting of 20 students in each class. The researchers used random sampling to select the experimental group and the control group, drawing lots conducted by the class teacher using a lottery system. Data collection methods in this study involved both test and non-test techniques. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the t-test result (t-value) is 8.692, while the t-table value is 2.042. Since the t-value is greater than the t-table value (t-value > t-table), the null hypothesis is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. This indicates that the cooperative learning model of the make-a-match type can improve creative thinking skills among fourth-grade students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of using video learning media on improving the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the study utilizes the ARCS research model, which encompasses student attention to the product (attention), assessment of product relevance (relevance), student confidence in using the product (confidence), and student satisfaction with the product (satisfaction). Data collection techniques include observations and structured questionnaires. The sample consists of eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The research procedure involves needs analysis, design, and development of the video learning media using the Renderforest application, implementation in classroom settings, and evaluation through collected data. Descriptive statistics summarize students' responses, while paired sample t-tests compare pretest and posttest scores to assess learning improvements. The study reveals that video learning media significantly enhances student engagement, comprehension of SLETV material, and overall satisfaction with learning. The findings underscore the importance of integrating motivational elements into educational media to foster better academic outcomes. This research contributes to understanding digital learning tools in education, offering practical insights for educators to enhance student learning experiences through innovative media.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of problem-based differentiated learning on the critical thinking skills of 5th-grade students at Muhammadiyah Suronatan Elementary School, a private elementary school in Yogyakarta. The study is quantitative, involving a sample of 28 students from the experimental class and 28 students from the control class. Data was collected using observation sheets and pretest-posttest questions. The data analysis included descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, specifically data normality testing, homogeneity testing, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate a significant relationship between problem-based differentiated learning and critical thinking skills. The t-test results show a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.00, which is less than 0.05, with an average student graduation rate of 86%. These results suggest that implementing problem-based differentiated learning can be an effective strategy for enhancing critical thinking skills among elementary school students. Consequently, educational institutions should consider integrating this approach into their curricula to foster better critical thinking skills in their students.

This research aims to analyze the English needs of hotel receptionists and identify the importance of using English and the challenges often faced in communicating using English. This research was conducted in several hotels in the Sikka district using qualitative methods. This research employs in-depth interviews with 4 hotel receptionists to gain comprehensive data. The results showed that good English skills are indispensable for receptionists to serve guests more effectively, provide accurate information, handle complaints or special requests from foreign guests, create positive experiences, and support the growth of the hotel business. In addition, this research found that the main challenges faced by receptionists in communicating using English include a lack of technical vocabulary, difficulty understanding different accents and dialects, and constraints in responding quickly and appropriately in emergencies. Solutions to overcome the challenges are continuous and focused English training is essential to overcome these challenges and improve the communication skills of hotel receptionists. In addition, the use of technology such as translator apps can help language obstacles in real-time. In this case, receptionists can be more confident and competent in using English, thus providing better service to international guests.
