Abstract

The student teaching assistance program is a concrete implementation of the university's tri dharma, particularly in the field of community service, aiming to integrate students' academic learning with real-world educational contexts. This program was carried out by students of the Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD) Study Program at UIN Jurai Siwo Metro in TK ABA Metro Pusat using a Service-Learning (SL) approach. This method enables students to engage directly in the teaching process and early childhood education management through three main stages: preparation and orientation, implementation and evaluation, and conclusion and reporting. The objective of this program is to develop students’ pedagogical competencies in designing instructional administration, conducting adaptive teaching practices, and participating in extracurricular activities that support holistic child development. The results demonstrate that students were capable of preparing Daily Lesson Plans (RPH), managing classroom learning activities, and initiating extracurricular programs such as dancing, coloring, and Qur’an memorization (tahfidz), all of which contribute to children's motor, creative, and spiritual development. In addition, regular evaluations by field supervisors (DPL) enhanced students’ reflective thinking in their teaching practices. In conclusion, the student teaching assistance program significantly enhances students’ academic and professional skills as prospective early childhood educators while also positively contributing to the partner institution through collaborative innovation and meaningful support in children's learning experiences.

Abstract

The digital transformation in education requires teachers to adapt technology-based learning approaches, one of which is deep learning. Deep learning, as a pedagogical approach, not only reflects advances in artificial intelligence technology but also represents a new paradigm in immersive learning that emphasizes active, reflective, and student-centered engagement. However, many elementary school teachers in border areas, such as Atambua City, still encounter challenges in designing teaching modules based on this approach. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide training in the development of deep learning-based teaching modules to elementary school teachers in Atambua City. The implementation method included needs identification, workshops, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the understanding of deep learning concepts and the ability of teachers to develop contextual and innovative teaching modules. Teachers also demonstrated high enthusiasm in implementing the training outcomes in their classrooms. This training had a positive impact on the quality of lesson planning, which focuses on developing critical thinking skills, collaboration, and student creativity. This activity is recommended for replication in other regions, especially those that are lagging behind in the use of technology-based learning approaches.

Abstract

The quality of learning is greatly influenced by teachers' creativity in presenting teaching materials, especially in engaging and visual learning contexts. In the digital era, utilizing technologies like Canva is a solution to increase the effectiveness of material delivery. However, many teachers in 3T (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged) areas, including Katara Elementary School in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, have not yet optimally utilized this application due to limited knowledge and training. This community service program aims to provide training in creating Canva-based learning media to teachers at Katara Elementary School. The method used was participatory training through face-to-face workshops, live demonstrations, independent practice, and mentoring. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills in creating engaging visual learning media, such as infographics, educational posters, and interactive presentations. Most participants stated that this training was very helpful in supporting the learning process in the classroom. Thus, this training has had a positive impact on improving the quality of education in elementary schools, especially in remote areas. This activity also opens up opportunities for further collaboration and digital literacy development for teachers.

Abstract

Empty oil palm fruit bunches (EFB) are a significant solid waste produced by the palm oil industry in Pelalawan Regency. Generally, this waste is not optimally utilized and instead becomes an environmental burden. One innovative and sustainable solution is to process EFB into biochar, a biochar that can significantly improve soil quality. This community service activity aims to provide training to farmer groups and surrounding village communities on techniques for producing and utilizing biochar from EFB as an organic fertilizer to improve agricultural soil fertility. Implementation methods included outreach, a hands-on demonstration of a simple pyrolysis process, and practical application of biochar in a pilot field. The results of the activity demonstrated that participants understood the benefits and techniques of biochar production and were able to apply them independently. Furthermore, there was increased public awareness of waste management based on circular economy principles. It is hoped that this activity will stimulate local innovation in agricultural waste utilization and increase sustainable agricultural productivity in Pelalawan. The development of advanced training programs and mentoring for biochar businesses are among the main recommendations of this activity.

Abstract

Peneladi Village, Pana, Kapuas District, Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan, is a center for oil palm plantations with high production potential. However, most farmers still rely on conventional cultivation methods that do not fully adhere to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards. This impacts low productivity, the quality of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), and environmental sustainability. This community service activity aims to provide technical assistance and education on the application of GAP in oil palm cultivation, including land management, balanced fertilization, integrated pest management (IPM), and timely harvesting. Implementation methods include outreach, training, demonstration plots (demplots), and field assistance. The activity results showed an 85% increase in farmers' knowledge and skills based on pre- and post-test evaluations, as well as the implementation of more environmentally friendly and efficient cultivation practices. Farmers began implementing a fertilizer system based on soil analysis results, proper frond pruning, and mechanical weed control to reduce herbicide use. This activity contributed to increasing farmer awareness of the importance of sustainable production and environmental management. Going forward, it is hoped that GAP implementation can be consistently implemented to increase oil palm productivity in Penyeladi Village, maintain the quality of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), and preserve ecosystem sustainability.
