Abstract

This qualitative systematic literature review examines the integration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), green innovation, and environmental practices as key drivers of industrial sustainability. The review synthesizes prior research to identify major antecedents, mechanisms, and outcomes associated with these interconnected dimensions. The findings indicate that CSR provides a strategic foundation for sustainability, while environmental practices translate corporate commitments into operational actions and green innovation serves as a transformative mechanism for improving environmental and organizational performance. Internal drivers, including employee engagement, organizational learning, and innovation capability, interact with external pressures such as stakeholder expectations, environmental regulations, and market competition. The review further reveals that sustainability outcomes are context-dependent and include improved environmental performance, resource efficiency, competitive advantage, organizational legitimacy, and long-term industrial sustainability. Abstract

This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of ESG implementation in public sector organizations, with a specific focus on the interrelated roles of governance, ethics, and leadership in promoting sustainability. Following the PRISMA framework, the study synthesizes findings from peer reviewed studies published up to 2024. The review reveals that ESG implementation in the public sector has evolved from a compliance based reporting tool into a strategic governance mechanism that enhances accountability, transparency, and sustainability performance (Deb, 2024; Sholikin et al., 2024). Governance structures are identified as the primary enablers of ESG integration, while ethical governance ensures institutional legitimacy and reduces symbolic or “greenwashing” practices (Zahari et al., 2024). Leadership is found to be a critical driver that aligns organizational culture with sustainability objectives and strengthens ESG execution across administrative levels (Said et al., 2024; Waxin et al., 2023). Overall, the study highlights the integrated influence of governance, ethics, and leadership in shaping effective ESG implementation in public sector organizations.

Abstract

This study examines the theoretical and empirical mechanisms through which Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance influences corporate and sustainability outcomes. Using a qualitative systematic literature review, the study synthesizes relevant theoretical and empirical evidence on ESG performance, its antecedents, mediating mechanisms, moderating conditions, and organizational outcomes. The findings indicate that ESG performance does not generate value through a single direct pathway but operates through interconnected stakeholder, information and disclosure, financial, innovation, risk-management, managerial, governance, and institutional mechanisms. Green innovation, stakeholder trust, corporate reputation, access to finance, reduced information asymmetry, and risk mitigation emerge as important impact pathways. The synthesis also demonstrates that ESG outcomes are context dependent and influenced by managerial characteristics, firm attributes, institutional environments, measurement approaches, and economic conditions. The study contributes a mechanism-oriented framework that explains how ESG performance can create value, strengthen organizational resilience, stimulate innovation, and support sustainable corporate development.

Abstract

This qualitative systematic literature review examines the interplay between leadership and institutions in driving economic growth. The study synthesizes evidence from influential and recent research on institutional quality, political selection, leadership capabilities, democracy, and national economic performance. The findings indicate that institutions provide the structural framework shaping incentives, accountability, political selection, and economic opportunities, while leadership influences policy implementation, institutional reform, and strategic decision-making. The review further shows that leadership capabilities are institutionally conditional: experienced and capable leaders are more likely to enhance economic performance when supported by accountable and growth-oriented institutions. In contrast, under non-democratic settings, leadership capabilities may contribute more strongly to regime stability than economic growth. The study concludes that sustainable economic development is best explained through the joint and recursive relationship between institutions and leadership, rather than by either factor alone.
