Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the education sector, including the field of cosmetology and skin care. This study aims to review the implementation of digital learning media in improving students’ learning outcomes on dry skin care materials. The review was conducted by analyzing 15 scientific articles, consisting of 10 international and 5 national journals published between 2016 and 2025. The findings reveal that digital learning media such as interactive videos, e-learning modules, mobile learning applications, and virtual simulations, consistently enhance students’ conceptual understanding, practical skills, and learning motivation. Digital based learning fosters a more flexible, interactive, and student centered learning environment, leading to better knowledge retention and clinical performance. However, its effectiveness highly depends on the quality of instructional design, technological infrastructure, and instructors’ ability to integrate digital tools into teaching. This review recommends adopting a blended learning model that combines digital media with hands on laboratory practice and developing contextually relevant learning content. Therefore, digital learning media can serve as an innovative strategy to improve students’ learning outcomes, particularly in mastering dry skin care competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of graduation haircut techniques as a foundational skill in beauty and hairdressing for students. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method using a case study design. Data were collected through lecturer explanations during demonstrations of graduation techniques, observations of third-semester students’ haircutting practices, and photographic documentation of haircuts, analyzed in terms of neatness, shape, and technique accuracy. The results indicate that most students were able to apply graduation techniques effectively, particularly in maintaining the basic haircut line. However, weaknesses were observed in the symmetry between the left and right sides of the hair, suggesting the need for repeated practice and intensive guidance. Observations also highlighted that mastery of technical aspects such as cutting angles, body posture, and hairpulling direction is crucial in determining the quality of the haircut. Mastering graduation techniques not only enhances students’ technical skills but also prepares them to meet the demands of the salon industry, where clients expect neat, symmetrical, and trendy haircuts. Therefore, repeated practice, periodic evaluation, and the use of supplementary learning media are essential strategies to improve students’ competence. Based on the findings, it is recommended that students continue practicing, develop the ability to adapt graduation techniques to different hair characteristics, and understand client needs to compete professionally in the salon industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of graduation haircut techniques as a fundamental skill in beauty and hairdressing education among third-semester students of the Beauty Education program. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through lecturer explanations during graduation haircut demonstrations, observations of students’ haircutting practices, and photographic documentation of haircut results. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that most students were able to apply graduation haircut techniques appropriately, particularly in maintaining the basic haircut line and volume formation. However, weaknesses were found in the symmetry between the left and right sides of the hair, indicating a need for repeated practice and more intensive guidance. The findings imply that mastery of graduation haircut techniques requires not only theoretical understanding but also continuous practical training supported by systematic evaluation. Strengthening these aspects is essential to prepare students to meet the technical and aesthetic standards demanded by the salon industry.

Abstract

Sarcasm is a style of language frequently used in news headlines, especially in satirical media, thus posing a challenge for natural language processing systems in understanding the true meaning. The system's inability to recognize sarcasm can lead to misinterpretation in various tasks such as sentiment analysis and text classification. This study aims to detect sarcasm in news headlines using an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) feature representation. The dataset used is the News Headlines Dataset for Sarcasm Detection, which consists of approximately 28,000 news headlines from two sources, namely The Onion as sarcastic news and HuffPost as non-sarcastic news. The data is processed through a text pre-processing stage, then represented using TF-IDF with unigram and bigram schemes. The ANN model is trained using an 80:20 data split scheme and evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Experimental results show that the TF-IDF-based ANN model achieved an accuracy of 85.02% and an F1-score of 84.44% on the test data. These results demonstrate that the ANN approach with TF-IDF representation remains effective and efficient as a baseline method for detecting sarcasm in short texts such as news headlines.

Abstract

The results of observations of practical shirt-making lessons at SMK Widya Praja Ungaran revealed several problems, including slow achievement of learning objectives, students' lack of understanding of sewing techniques, incomplete learning media that are still based on the 2013 Curriculum, and the absence of e-modules integrated with the Merdeka Curriculum Phase F. In addition, most of the students' products did not meet the minimum passing grade of 75. This study aims to develop an e-module for shirt making, determine its feasibility, and assess its practicality. The method used is research and development with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A questionnaire was used as a research instrument to collect data. The feasibility of the e-module was assessed by three subject matter experts and three media experts. The validation results showed that the e-module obtained a feasibility percentage of 91.67% from subject matter experts and 96.05% from media experts, both of which were classified as highly feasible. The practicality of the e-module was assessed by 21 students in class XI DPB 1. The appearance aspect scored 85.24% (very practical), the material presentation aspect scored 84.05% (practical), and the benefit aspect scored 82.31% (practical), with an average practicality of 83.86% (practical). Thus, the developed e-module is highly feasible and practical for use as a learning medium for shirt-making material for students in the Fashion Expertise Program Phase F.
