Abstract

Background: Monitoring the development of toddlers is an essential aspect of the early detection of child growth and development problems. However, its implementation in Indonesia still faces various challenges, such as low parental awareness and limited access to health services. This study aims to identify factors related to monitoring the development of toddlers based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI).  Method: This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design involving all children aged 0-6 years in Indonesia. Data were collected through standardized questionnaires and structured interviews, then analyzed using simple linear regression to measure the relationship between socioeconomic factors, ownership, and utilization of KIA books, as well as access to health centers for child development monitoring. Result: The results showed that the most dominant factor in supporting development monitoring was the ownership and utilization of KIA books, with a powerful and significant correlation (R=0.781 and R=0.788). Easy access to health centers also has a considerable influence (R=0.681). In contrast, economic status has a lower relationship and is not statistically significant in most categories. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of increasing parental awareness of using KIA books and optimizing access to health services to support better child development monitoring.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between climate variability and acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases in Semarang City over the period 2015-2023. This issue is becoming increasingly relevant as climate change continues to influence weather patterns and environmental conditions, potentially affecting public health outcomes, particularly respiratory health. Method: The research method used is descriptive observational with an ecological study approach according to time which aims to see climate variability with ARI cases. Analyses were conducted to test the correlation between ARI cases and various climatic parameters, so as to obtain a comprehensive understanding of climatic factors that can affect the incidence of ARI. Results: The results of univariate analysis showed that during the period 2015 - 2023 the average ARI cases amounted to 9,815 cases / month, the average temperature was 28.31˚C, the average humidity was 73.49%, the average rainfall was 12.52 mm / month, the average length of sunshine was 7.42 hours, and the average wind speed was 2.55 km / hour. The correlation test results show that, maximum temperature (p = 0.002), average temperature (p = 0.003), average humidity (p = 0.008), wind direction with maximum speed (p = 0.000) have a significant relationship with ARI cases in Semarang City. While the average rainfall parameter (p = 0.681) and the length of sunshine parameter (p = 0.752) have no relationship with ARI cases in Semarang City in 2015 – 2023. Conclusion: Maximum temperature parameter, average temperature parameter, average humidity parameter, and wind direction parameter at maximum speed have a significant relationship with ARI cases. Promotive and preventive efforts need to be made to reduce the risk of ARI transmission, especially at the turn of the season and the density of activities carried out in the community.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the short version of the Level of Expressed Emotion (LEE) Scale in measuring family emotional expression toward individuals with schizophrenia. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design was employed. A total of 18 respondents were purposively selected from families living with schizophrenia patients. The instrument consisted of two subscales: Critical Comments and Emotional Overinvolvement. Validity testing revealed that all items in both subscales had correlation coefficients greater than the critical value (r > 0.443) and were statistically significant at p < 0.05. Reliability testing yielded Cronbach's Alpha values of 0.934 for Critical Comments and 0.866 for Emotional Overinvolvement, indicating high internal consistency. Therefore, the short version of the LEE Scale is a valid and reliable tool to assess family emotional expression that may influence relapse in individuals with schizophrenia.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition marked by disturbance of linear growth in children, resulting from a lack of adequate nutrition, including infection, repetitive infections, and inadequate stimulation. The aim of this study is to analyze the connection between the circumference of the head and stunting incidents in children and toddlers. Research methods used a cross-sectional design with 100 children aged 2-5 years in Central Java. Data was collected through anthropometric measurements ( height, weight, and head circumference) and interviews. Data analysis with univariate and bivariate. Research results show that children with a head circumference not normal to have a prevalence of stunting is higher (21%) compared to children with a normal head circumference (1%), and there is a present connection between head circumference and the incidence of stunting in children ( p-value = 0.016). This study emphasizes the importance of integrating the circumference of the head in monitoring the growth of children, in addition to the conventional anthropometric parameters, for increased effectiveness in preventing stunting. The recommendations study covers a holistic approach involving repair nutrition, health of the mother, and environmental factors.

Abstract

Drug abuse is a complex public health problem in Indonesia. To increase access to rehabilitation services, the government launched the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application as a digital platform that involves volunteers in its implementation. This study aims to analyze the role of volunteers in improving the accessibility of rehabilitation services for people affected by drug abuse through the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with volunteers, health workers, and the community involved in the program. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns and categories related to volunteer roles. The results of the study show that the Drug Clean Village (BERSINAR) program has a significant impact in increasing the accessibility of community-based rehabilitation services. This program involves Field Line officers and community leaders in providing understanding to the public about the dangers of drugs and the importance of rehabilitation. This activity includes counseling, education, and advocacy directed at high-risk groups. In addition, the program also includes coaching and empowerment for individuals who have participated in rehabilitation services. Recovery Agents in this program play a role in assisting drug users who have undergone rehabilitation so that they can adapt to society again. The psychosocial support provided by recovery agents has been proven to help users in the recovery process as well as prevent them from falling back into drug abuse. Volunteers play a strategic role in expanding the accessibility of rehabilitation services through the DESA SIAP BERSINAR application. More supportive policies and capacity building of volunteers are needed to ensure the sustainability of this program
