Abstract

Baby spa offers numerous benefits for infants, including helping to regulate sleep patterns, stimulating and balancing the hormones cortisol and oxytocin, boosting the immune system to promote better overall health, and stimulating enzymes in the stomach that enhance optimal nutrient absorption. This community service activity was carried out at the Yasmin Baby Spa Outlet in Serang in July 2024, targeting mothers with babies aged 6 to 12 months. The activity was attended by seven mothers, one therapist, and one midwifery student from Bina Bangsa University. The educational session aimed to increase the mothers' knowledge and skills in performing baby massage and baby spa treatments, enabling them to apply these practices independently at home.Based on the evaluation conducted after the session, participants’ knowledge increased by up to 82%. This indicates that the activity had a positive impact in enhancing mothers’ understanding and awareness of the importance of early stimulation through baby massage and baby spa. Moreover, the activity equipped mothers with practical skills that can be directly applied, thus supporting the optimal growth and development of their babies.

Abstract

As part of community empowerment efforts and the promotion of environmental literacy among Islamic boarding school students (santri), this community service activity aimed to provide training on the production of ecoenzymes from domestic waste as an environmentally friendly and economically valuable waste management solution. The training was conducted in the form of an integrated workshop that included hands-on practice in making ecoenzymes, producing eco-friendly soap, product packaging, and digital marketing training. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in utilizing waste into useful products with entrepreneurial potential. This was measured by indicators such as the ability to explain the concept and steps of product making, as well as the ability to practice them—evaluated through direct Q&A with participants after the training. This initiative marked the beginning of building a self-sufficient, productive, and environmentally conscious pesantren ecosystem.

Abstract

Reading interest among elementary school students in Indonesia remains low, which contributes to weak literacy skills from an early age. One contributing factor is the limited availability of child-friendly reading facilities in school environments. This community service program aimed to increase students’ reading interest by providing an engaging and functional reading corner at MI Darul Huda, Ramea Village, Pandeglang Regency. The implementation method consisted of three stages: (1) preparation through school interviews and observations, as well as book collection from donors; (2) execution involving the setup of the reading corner, teacher training on literacy strategies, and student engagement activities; and (3) evaluation using qualitative observation and teacher interviews. Results indicated that 53–69% of students per class visited the reading corner daily, actively engaging in reading and book-related discussions. Teachers reported improved student interaction and reading enthusiasm. This program demonstrates that reading corners play a vital role in fostering a literacy culture in elementary schools and are suitable for replication in other schools.

Abstract

Maternal and Child Health (MCH) is one of the key indicators of public health development and a priority in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Pregnant women and children are among the most vulnerable groups to health problems due to their high risk of pregnancy complications, infectious diseases, malnutrition, and growth and developmental disorders. Based on this condition, a community service program was conducted to improve the knowledge of residents in Damping Village, Pamarayan Subdistrict, Serang Regency, regarding maternal and child health. The implementation method consisted of problem identification, priority analysis, planning, health education using leaflets, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. The activity was attended by 30 participants, consisting of health cadres and couples of reproductive age. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge: the percentage of participants with poor knowledge decreased from 70% before the session to 20% after, while those with good knowledge increased from 30% to 80%. These findings indicate that interactive counseling using attractive leaflets is effective in enhancing community understanding of maternal and child health.

Abstract

Posyandu is one of the key pillars of primary healthcare services at the village level; however, its effectiveness is often hindered by limited skills among health cadres and low community participation. This community service program aimed to improve the quality of Posyandu services through health education, technical training for cadres, and the implementation of collaborative Posyandu activities in Cemplang Village, Serang Regency. The activities involved university students participating in a community service program (KKM), Posyandu cadres, public health center (Puskesmas) staff, village officials, and local residents. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests with six cadres and 20 residents, as well as by observing community participation. The results showed an increase in cadres’ knowledge scores from 68 to 92 (35.3%) and in community members’ scores from 54 to 85 (57.4%). In addition, visits by toddlers to the Posyandu increased by approximately 40% compared to the previous average. These findings indicate that collaborative interventions, interactive education, and hands-on practice can enhance cadres’ skills, improve community knowledge, and boost participation in healthcare services. This model has the potential to be replicated in other areas with cross-sectoral support.
