Abstract

Strengthening students’ discipline character is one of the key objectives of education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, which can be developed through the habituation of religious activities such as the Duha prayer. This study aims to examine the relationship between students’ perceptions of the Duha prayer practice and their discipline levels in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah environment. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational ex post facto design. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation. The data analysis used Pearson Product Moment correlation and simple linear regression to determine the relationship and the extent of influence between the variables. The findings indicate a significant relationship between students’ perceptions of the Duha prayer habit and their discipline, with a correlation level ranging from moderate to strong and a meaningful contribution of influence. Therefore, it can be concluded that students’ perceptions of the Duha prayer practice have a positive effect on their discipline in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic theological studies are currently facing an academic crisis characterized by definitional stagnation, the loss of transformative urgency, and unproductive historical readings. The root of this problem lies in the dominance of doctrinal–normative approaches that tend to neglect the existential dimensions of modern human life, causing theology to lose its relevance in addressing issues of meaning, suffering, and alienation. The research gap emerges from the limited integration between Islamic theology and existential psychology, particularly in responding to the phenomenon of the existential vacuum. This study employs Viktor Frankl’s humanistic–existential framework, which emphasizes the concept of the will to meaning as the foundation of human meaningfulness. This research adopts a qualitative method with a philosophical-critical approach and hermeneutical analysis of classical and contemporary theological literature. The main argument of this article asserts that the crisis of Islamic theology is not merely a methodological crisis, but fundamentally an existential crisis resulting from the disconnection between doctrine and human experience. Therefore, a reconstruction of Islamic theology based on meaning-centered theology is required—one that is existential, interdisciplinary, and transformative in nature. The scholarly contribution of this study lies in the formulation of a new paradigm that integrates Islamic theology with existential logotherapy, thereby shifting the orientation of theology from merely producing truth-claims toward facilitating meaning-making. This approach is expected to revitalize the role of theology as a discipline that is not only normative, but also relevant in fostering existential awareness and humanistic consciousness.

Abstract

Deep learning is an educational approach that centers on thorough conceptual understanding rather than surface-level memorization. It calls for active student participation, critical reasoning, and the ability to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world contexts. This study examines the implementation of deep learning in Fiqh instruction at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings show that deep learning improved students' grasp of worship-related content, strengthened critical thinking skills, and nurtured students' religious character. Teachers employed strategies such as group discussions, direct religious practice, reflective activities, and problem-solving grounded in students' daily experiences. Challenges included a shortage of instructional media, varied student abilities, and limited class time. Despite these constraints, deep learning proved effective in elevating the quality of Fiqh education at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of social interaction in schools as part of the socialization process that influences students’ learning motivation. This literature review aims to analyze the relationship between social interaction in the school environment and students’ learning motivation from the perspective of the sociology of education. The study employs a literature review method by examining relevant journals, books, and previous studies related to social interaction, learning motivation, and the role of schools as agents of socialization. The findings indicate that positive interaction between teachers and students, as well as among peers, can increase students’ sense of comfort, self-confidence, and willingness to participate actively in learning activities. In contrast, poor social interaction may reduce students’ enthusiasm and engagement in learning. This study concludes that social interaction plays an important role in shaping learning motivation, so schools need to create an inclusive, communicative, and supportive social environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the genealogy of the development of Usul Fiqh and the emergence of various schools of thought in Usul Fiqh from the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to the periodization of knowledge collection. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the category of literature study. Information is collected through documentation techniques from various written sources such as books, scientific articles, academic journals, and works of Usul Fiqh scholars. The data is then analyzed using content analysis techniques to find patterns of development of thought, characteristics of schools, and contributions of Usul Fiqh figures. The results show that Usul Fiqh developed gradually from simple ijtihad practices during the time of the Prophet SAW to a systematic discipline during the time of the imams of the madhhab, especially through the contribution of Imam Shafi'i in the book al-Risalah. This study also found three main schools of Usul Fiqh, namely the Mutakallimin school, the Fuqaha/Hanafiyyah school, and the Combined school. These three schools show that Usul Fiqh develops dynamically, adaptively, and is open to social developments and the needs of the community. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of Usul Fiqh and Islamic education.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in the era of Society 5.0 has significantly transformed educational practices, including Islamic education at the elementary level. However, the integration of digital technology in Islamic learning raises concerns regarding students’ moral and character development due to unrestricted access to information and digital media exposure. This study aims to analyze the implementation and effectiveness of digital-based Islamic education in shaping noble character among Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students in Jambi Province, Indonesia. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving Islamic education teachers, principals, students, and parents from several Madrasah Ibtidaiyah institutions in Jambi Province. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations, documentation, and questionnaires. The findings reveal that digital-based Islamic education positively contributes to the development of students’ discipline, honesty, responsibility, religiosity, and social ethics when supported by appropriate supervision, Islamic values integration, and interactive digital learning media. The study also identifies several challenges, including limited digital literacy among teachers, inadequate infrastructure, and weak parental control over students’ digital activities. Nevertheless, digital learning provides opportunities for personalized learning, interactive religious instruction, and broader access to Islamic educational resources. This study contributes to the discourse on digital Islamic education and highlights the importance of integrating technology with moral education in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The expansion of digital technology and globalization has transformed the ways in which young people access, interpret, and practice religious teachings. Although the availability of digital religious resources broadens learning opportunities, it also creates challenges associated with intolerance, ideological polarization, and the circulation of extremist religious narratives. In this context, strengthening religious moderation through education has become increasingly important, particularly within Islamic Religious Education (IRE). This study investigates the contribution of an integrative-inclusive learning approach in IRE to the development of students’ religious moderation. Using a qualitative library research design, the study examines relevant scholarly literature, including academic books, journal articles, and policy documents. Data were analyzed through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings demonstrate that integrative-inclusive IRE learning supports the cultivation of core values of religious moderation, including tolerance, justice, balance, openness, and respect for diversity. The approach also facilitates the development of critical thinking, digital literacy, and social awareness, enabling students to engage constructively with the complexities of multicultural societies. Furthermore, contextual, dialogical, and humanistic learning practices encourage students to move beyond normative understandings of Islam toward the practical application of moderation values in everyday life. The study concludes that integrative-inclusive IRE provides a relevant pedagogical framework for promoting religious moderation and preparing students to participate responsibly in pluralistic social environments.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including the Islamic education system. These changes have created new challenges for Islamic educational institutions in maintaining a balance between the traditional values that characterize Islamic education and the demands of modernization and digitization of education. This article aims to analyze the phenomenon of identity crisis in Islamic educational institutions in the digital era and examine various strategies that can be implemented to maintain the identity of Islamic education amid technological developments. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research, namely by analyzing various scientific literature such as books, journals, and research results relevant to the topic of study. The results show that the identity crisis of Islamic educational institutions arises from the tension between efforts to maintain the traditional values of Islamic education and the demands of modernization of education based on digital technology. In addition, digitization also brings various challenges such as low digital literacy, limited human resources, and the potential for a shift in moral and spiritual values in the educational process. Therefore, Islamic educational institutions need to develop integrative strategies through strengthening the Islamic values-based curriculum, improving teacher competence in teaching, and enhancing the role of religious leaders in shaping the educational process.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural nation characterized by a high level of religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity. Within this context of pluralism, the potential for conflict arising from differences in religious understanding, intolerance, and radicalism remains a significant challenge. This study aims to examine the concept of religious moderation (wasathiyah) in Islam, explore the Islamic perspective on the existence of non-Muslims, and identify forms of inclusive interaction in social life and their implications for education. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach based on library research by analyzing relevant literature, documents, and religious texts. The findings reveal that religious moderation in Islam encompasses four major dimensions: faith (aqidah), worship (ibadah), morality (akhlaq), and the formulation of Islamic law (tasyri’). In dealing with non-Muslims, Islam emphasizes the principles of tasamuh (tolerance), al-insaniyyah (humanity), and proportional justice, which were historically exemplified through the Constitution of Medina. Interactions between Muslims and non-Muslims are manifested inclusively in social (muamalah), economic, educational, and humanitarian spheres while maintaining the theological boundaries of each faith. Religious moderation plays a strategic role in fostering harmony, stability, and peaceful coexistence in Indonesia. Therefore, the internalization of moderation values through educational institutions is an urgent necessity to cultivate a tolerant, inclusive, and socially responsible younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify social media ethical challenges among Generation Z and examine Islamic Religious Education (IRE) values as a normative framework for developing responsible digital character. Employing a qualitative library research approach, data were collected from books, journals, and academic documents, then analyzed using content analysis. Findings reveal that primary digital ethical challenges stem from a gap between technical proficiency and moral maturity, exacerbated by online disinhibition, echo chamber algorithms, and instant validation culture. IRE values such as ṣidq (honesty), amanah (trustworthiness), tabayyun (verification), and akhlaq al-karimah (noble character) prove highly relevant as a holistic foundation for cyber ethics. Effective internalization requires contextual integration within digital literacy, case-based learning, consistent role modeling, and collaborative ecosystems reinforced by digital muhasabah (self-reflection). Theoretically, these findings enrich contemporary Islamic education by affirming that digital character must be grounded in spiritual-moral values. Practically, this research provides conceptual and operational guidance for educators, families, and policymakers to optimize IRE’s role in shaping a Generation Z that is digitally competent, ethical, and morally upright in virtual spaces.
