Jurnal Pendidikan Islam Al-Ikhlas merupakan jurnal ilmiah open access yang dikelola oleh Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Ikhlas Dairi Sidikalang. Abstract

Differences of opinion among Muslim scholars constitute a natural phenomenon within the Islamic intellectual tradition and are inseparable from the dynamics of ijtihad in interpreting the primary sources of Islamic teachings. This article aims to analyze the underlying causes of scholarly disagreement (ikhtilaf) and to explain the methodological and contextual factors that contribute to its emergence. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research by examining classical and contemporary literature related to usul al-fiqh and the development of Islamic legal schools. The findings indicate that differences of opinion arise from varying interpretations of the Qur’an and Hadith, differences in assessing the authenticity and transmission of narrations, diverse methods of legal reasoning (istinbath), variations in the application of principles of usul al-fiqh, as well as the influence of social and cultural contexts surrounding the scholars. Therefore, such differences should not be viewed as contradictions, but rather as reflections of the flexibility of Islamic law and the richness of its intellectual heritage, which call for a wise and tolerant attitude in responding to them.

Abstract

The digital age and the phenomenon of post-truth have created new challenges for Islamic education, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to control the distortion of religious narratives and social polarization in cyberspace. The crisis of religious authority and the spread of misinformation demand a new paradigm in the educational system. This study aims to analyze the relevance of religious moderation as a new basis for Islamic education in order to combat strategies of social segregation in an era of disruption. The research method used is a qualitative documentary study, with critical analysis of various academic publications, government policies, and contemporary social phenomena. The results indicate that strengthening religious moderation as an educational paradigm requires three main teaching strategies. First, integrating the values ​​of wasatiyah (religious authority) through positive learning methodologies and active dialogue to develop students' critical thinking against extremist narratives. Second, introducing digital literacy based on prophetic values ​​and the ethics of Islamic communication (qalamun ma’rufan) as a filter for information on social networks. Third, to strengthen an inclusive educational ecosystem through collaboration between educational institutions, families, and communities. This study concludes that establishing religious moderation as a new paradigm is not only a preventive measure but also an important pedagogical transformation for creating a tolerant and digitally literate society capable of maintaining national stability amidst the complexities of the post-truth era.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed students’ patterns of social interaction, particularly in their engagement with digital media. Within the context of an increasingly instant global culture, various issues related to digital ethics, such as the spread of misinformation, cyberbullying, and impolite communication, are becoming more prevalent among students. This study aims to examine the role of internalizing Islamic educational values in shaping students’ digital ethics in response to these digital cultural challenges. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research by analyzing a range of literature sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and previous studies relevant to Islamic education, digital ethics, and student character development. The collected data were examined through descriptive analysis to explore the relationship between Islamic educational values and students’ ethical behavior in digital environments. The findings indicate that Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, politeness, and the principle of tabayyun play a significant role in fostering students’ awareness of digital ethics. Therefore, the internalization of Islamic educational values can serve as a strategic approach to developing a generation that not only possesses strong digital literacy but also demonstrates moral integrity in using technology in a responsible and ethical manne

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a crucial role in shaping students’ moral character and strengthening their spiritual foundation in line with Islamic values. In the context of rapid social and technological change, character development has become an essential component of modern education. Therefore, Islamic education is expected to contribute significantly to fostering morally responsible individuals who maintain strong religious identity while adapting to contemporary challenges. This study employs a library research approach to examine the conceptual role of Islamic Religious Education in developing Islamic character among students. Relevant scholarly sources, including books and academic journal articles, were systematically analyzed to explore the processes, strategies, and challenges of character formation within Islamic education. The findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education contributes to character development through the internalization of moral values, the cultivation of positive habits, and the strengthening of spiritual awareness. The effectiveness of character formation is influenced by both internal and external factors, including family, school, and social environment. Strengthening collaboration among these elements is essential to ensure sustainable character development in educational settings.

Abstract

Qur’anic parables (amtsal) represent a rhetorical approach used in the Qur’an to convey messages of faith, morality, and guidance for human life. Through parables, abstract concepts are presented in more concrete forms, making them easier to understand and more influential in shaping moral and spiritual attitudes. This study aims to examine the concept and function of Qur’anic parables (amtsal) as a rhetorical approach to conveying moral and spiritual values. The research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by analyzing relevant literature in the fields of Qur’anic studies and exegesis. The findings reveal that Qur’anic parables consist of several main forms, namely amtsal musharrahah, amtsal kaminah, and amtsal mursalah, each possessing distinctive rhetorical characteristics and educational functions. Furthermore, Qur’anic parables serve as an effective medium for explaining abstract concepts, instilling moral and spiritual values, encouraging positive behavior, and strengthening faith. Therefore, the rhetorical use of parables in the Qur’an plays a strategic role in fostering the internalization of moral and spiritual values in human life

Abstract

The multidimensional crisis of modern humanity—marked by dehumanization, spiritual fragmentation, and the dominance of secular paradigms—has weakened the relationship between knowledge and transcendental values. In this context, tazkiyatun nafs is still often understood in a reductionistic manner as merely an individual ascetic practice, thus failing to respond to structural problems and contemporary social crises. The research gap lies in the absence of an integrative and transformative epistemological formulation of tazkiyatun nafs, one that positions tauhid as the foundation for scientific and social emancipation. This article aims to reconstruct tazkiyatun nafs through the theoretical approach of emancipatory tauhid, which integrates theological, philosophical, and socio-critical dimensions. This approach positions tauhid not merely as a normative doctrine, but as an ontological and axiological principle for the liberation of humanity from various forms of non-divine domination. The research method employed is qualitative-conceptual, using philosophical-critical analysis and a hermeneutic approach to classical Sufi literature as well as contemporary thought. The main argument of this article asserts that tazkiyatun nafs needs to be reconstructed from a self-purification orientation toward a transformative paradigm that integrates personal purification with social change. Thus, emancipatory tauhid functions as an epistemological foundation for the development of holistic knowledge oriented toward human liberation. The scientific contribution of this study lies in offering a new paradigm in Islamic Studies that integratively connects spirituality, rationality, and social praxis, while also opening space for the development of a transformative human model within the framework of contemporary Islamic scholarship.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), encompassing its opportunities, challenges, and implications for the learning process and students’ character development. The method employed is a qualitative study with a descriptive-analytical approach through literature review and conceptual analysis of AI implementation in education. The findings indicate that AI can enhance the effectiveness of PAI learning through personalized content delivery, automated assessment, and the provision of adaptive learning resources. However, the integration of AI also presents several challenges, particularly related to ethical concerns, technological dependency, and the potential reduction of spiritual values if not managed wisely. Therefore, an integrative model that combines AI technology with Islamic values is necessary to ensure that PAI learning remains oriented toward moral and character formation. This study recommends the development of a technology-based PAI curriculum that continues to prioritize moral and spiritual dimensions as the fundamental foundation of Islamic education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of Islamic education in the Javanese kingdoms from the 15th to the 19th century, with a historical and comparative approach. Its purpose is to map institutions, curricula, pathways, and key actors, compare patterns among kingdoms, and identify factors of transformation between religion, politics, and culture. The methods include literature review, archaeological sources, documentary sources, and descriptive analysis. The results show a diversity of educational models, influenced by power, networks of scholars, and state policies. Pesantren, royal madrasas, and scholars' schools complement each other, with different curricula and legitimacy. The main factors include the role of scholars, integration of economic policies, as well as trade and demographic dynamics. This study emphasizes the transfer of knowledge and regional Islamic identity that continues to develop contextually and adaptively.

Abstract

This article departs from an academic crisis characterized by a disjunction between normative-ritualistic Islamic theology and a social reality marked by inequality, conflict, and pragmatism. Although theology possesses transformative potential, contemporary religious practices tend to remain individualistic and lack the capacity to effectively respond to social, political, and economic challenges. The research gap lies in the limited integration of theology, Sufism—particularly tazkiyatun nafs—and social praxis within a systematic and emancipatory framework. This study employs a theoretical approach of transformative tazkiyatun nafs grounded in emancipatory tawhid, positioning self-purification as the foundation of social change. The research method is qualitative-conceptual, utilizing library research with philosophical, theological, and hermeneutical analysis. The main argument asserts that the reconstruction of Islamic theology must shift from ritualistic tawhid toward emancipatory tawhid that integrates spiritual, ethical, and practical dimensions. The findings indicate that tazkiyatun nafs can be transformed from an individual practice into a social paradigm that shapes collective consciousness toward justice. The scholarly contribution of this study lies in the formulation of an integrative model of theology–Sufism–social transformation as a new paradigm in contemporary Islamic studies.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of an Adiwiyata-based Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum supported by technology through the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge) framework and the UNESCO Tbilisi principles at SD Negeri Bakalan. This research employed a qualitative approach using field research methods. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with IRE teachers and the Adiwiyata coordinator, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative techniques involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the adiwiyata based IRE curriculum at SD Negeri Bakalan has been carried out effectively and holistically. The integration of Islamic values with environmental issues is realized through the use of interactive learning technologies and the application of the TPACK model, which encompasses content mastery, contextual pedagogical strategies, and digital media utilization. Furthermore, the UNESCO Tbilisi principles awareness, knowledge, attitudes, skills, and participation—have been successfully implemented in IRE learning and school culture. This implementation contributes to the development of students’ religious character and environmental awareness through habitual environmentally friendly behaviors and active participation in adiwiyata programs. Therefore, technology-supported adiwiyata based IRE learning can serve as an effective model for fostering sustainable environmental care attitudes among students.
