Abstract

Assessment is an essential component in Islamic education as it serves to measure students' competence comprehensively, encompassing attitudes, knowledge, and skills. Authentic assessment and portfolios are relevant evaluation approaches for assessing students' abilities in real and continuous contexts. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of authentic assessment and portfolios in Islamic education at MTsN 1 Kota Padang, as well as to identify the advantages and challenges encountered in their application. The research employed a qualitative approach with a field study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The results indicate that authentic assessment and portfolios have been implemented through various learning activities, such as worship practice, evaluation of religious attitudes, project assignments, and collections of student work. The application of these assessments provides a more comprehensive picture of students' learning development and aligns with Islamic values, including honesty, responsibility, and consistency. However, its implementation still faces challenges, particularly related to limited time and teachers’ administrative workload. Overall, authentic assessment and portfolios have the potential to enhance the quality of Islamic education at MTsN 1 Kota Padang if supported by optimal planning and management.

Abstract

Assessment is a crucial component in Islamic education, encompassing not only the measurement of students’ knowledge but also their skills and attitudes. This study aims to analyze innovative evaluation models and approaches that can enhance students’ competencies at MTsN 1 Kota Padang. The research employed a quasi-experimental approach with a pretest-posttest design for both experimental and control classes. Research instruments included competency tests, attitude observations, and student portfolios. The results indicate that the implementation of innovative evaluation models, including authentic assessment and portfolios, significantly improves students’ conceptual understanding, practical skills, and religious attitudes compared to conventional evaluation models. These findings underscore the importance of developing holistic, creative, and competency-oriented evaluation approaches in Islamic education. The study also provides recommendations for teachers to systematically integrate innovative evaluation models into the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The study of i'jaz al-Qur'an is an important part of Qur'anic studies that discusses the miraculous nature of the Qur'an as proof of the prophethood of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This study aims to analyze the meaning of i'jaz, the function of the miraculous nature of the Qur'an, various views of scholars, aspects of miraculousness, the position and uniqueness of the Qur'an as an eternal miracle, and the differences between the miracles of the Qur'an and those of previous prophets. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The results of the study show that i'jaz al-Qur'an is clear evidence of the truth of Islam, which includes linguistic aspects (al-i'jaz al-bayani), scientific aspects (al-i'jaz al-'ilmi), legislative aspects (al-i'jaz al-tasyri'i), and supernatural aspects (al-i'jaz al-ghaibi). This miraculous nature confirms the inability of humans to match the Qur'an and proves the truth of the message of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In addition to serving as proof of prophethood and strengthening faith, i'jaz al-Qur'an also becomes an epistemological basis for the integration of revelation and reason. The Qur'an's status as an eternal miracle distinguishes it from the miracles of previous prophets, which were temporal in nature

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the concept of Aqsam al-Qur’an, which refers to the oaths mentioned in the Qur’an, emphasizing their linguistic, theological, and pedagogical functions in conveying divine messages and reinforcing truth. The research aims to examine the meaning, usage, elements, and types of qasam in Al-Qur’an, and to understand how these oaths serve as tools for strengthening faith, moral guidance, and comprehension of Islamic teachings. Employing a qualitative research method through literature review, the study analyzes primary sources from the Qur’an and secondary sources including tafsir and scholarly works related to ulumul Qur’an. The results reveal that qasam is structured strategically with specific linguistic forms such as fi’il, muqsam bih, and muqsam ‘alaih, with varying types including zhahir and mudhmar, to ensure clarity, conviction, and effective communication of divine guidance. These findings demonstrate that oaths are not merely rhetorical devices, but play a crucial role in shaping believers’ understanding and behavior. Consequently, this research contributes to the enrichment of Qur’anic studies and provides a framework for integrating the pedagogical use of qasam in Islamic education. Abstract

This study explores the philosophical concept of child education according to Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Al-Ghazali, two prominent figures in classical Islamic intellectual tradition. The research aims to examine their educational philosophies, emphasizing their epistemological foundations, moral objectives, and pedagogical orientations. Employing a qualitative library research design with content analysis, this study analyzes primary texts such as Kitab al-Najat, Risalah fi al-Tarbiyah, and Ihya’ Ulum al-Din, alongside secondary sources. Findings reveal that both thinkers view education as a comprehensive process aimed at nurturing the intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions of the child in harmony with divine purpose. Ibn Sina’s approach emphasizes rational and empirical cultivation of the intellect, while Al-Ghazali stresses spiritual purification and moral habituation grounded in revelation. Despite differing in emphasis, both share the ultimate goal of forming the insan kamil (perfect human). Theoretically, this study contributes to understanding Islamic educational philosophy as an integration between reason and faith, while practically, it provides insight for contemporary Islamic pedagogy to balance cognitive development and moral education. This philosophical synthesis remains relevant in addressing the moral and intellectual challenges of modern education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the world of education, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. However, low student learning motivation remains a common problem due to the use of less varied and conventional learning methods. This study aims to examine digital technology-based PAI learning strategies to improve student learning motivation. The research method used was a qualitative approach with library research methods, namely through a review of books, scientific journals, research articles, and relevant academic sources. The results of the study indicate that the use of digital technologies such as audiovisual media, e-learning, bold learning platforms, and interactive applications can create PAI learning that is more engaging, interactive, and tailored to the characteristics of students in the digital era. Digital technology-based learning strategies also encourage increased interest, participation, and active student involvement in the learning process. Thus, the implementation of digital technology-based PAI learning strategies is effective in increasing student learning motivation.

Abstract

The Qur’an not only serves as a source of law and creed but is also rich in educational values and effective communication methods. One prominent method of delivering messages is the use of amsal or parables. This study aims to examine the concept of amsal in the Qur’an, explain its types, and analyze its rhetorical and educational functions in the context of learning and divine communication. The main issues addressed include how amsal is understood from the perspective of Ulumul Qur’an and its relevance in modern life. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with library research, involving a review of books, journals, scholarly articles, and online documentation related to Qur’anic amsal. The findings indicate that amsal is a divine communication strategy that bridges abstract concepts with concrete illustrations, reinforces doctrinal messages, fosters moral and spiritual awareness, and engages intellectual and emotional dimensions simultaneously. The Qur’an’s amsal are categorized into musarrahah, kaminah, and mursalah, each with distinct characteristics and functions. These results confirm that amsal is not merely a rhetorical ornament but a methodological foundation relevant for developing communicative, reflective, and transformative Islamic education.

Abstract

Digital technology has transformed the way students develop their social identity and character. Digital footprints, which record every online activity, now function as a new factor that shapes self-perception, social relations, and moral behavior among students. This study aims to analyze the role of digital footprints in the formation of students' social identity and character in the digital era. Using a library research method, various scholarly articles, books, accredited national journals, and recent research were reviewed to construct a conceptual understanding of how digital practices influence identity development in educational settings. The findings reveal that digital footprints significantly affect the way students represent themselves online, interact with peers, and internalize social norms. Low digital literacy leads to identity distortion, negative self-presentation, cyberbullying, and impulsive digital behavior. Therefore, digital literacy education becomes essential in supporting the development of positive digital identity and character among students. The study concludes that schools must integrate digital literacy into character education programs to help students build responsible and ethical digital behavior

Abstract

This study examines three major approaches in Qur’anic interpretation: Tafsir bil Ma’tsur, Tafsir bil Ra’yi, and Tafsir bil Isyari. The issue addressed in this research is the diversity of interpretative methods used by Muslim scholars in understanding the Qur’an and how these approaches contribute to the development of Islamic scholarship. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics, sources, and methodological foundations of these three types of tafsir, as well as to analyze their roles in interpreting the meanings of the Qur’anic verses.This research employs a qualitative library research method. Data were collected through documentation and literature review from classical and contemporary Islamic scholarship, including books, journals, and authoritative works related to Qur’anic exegesis. The collected data were then analyzed using a descriptive-analytical approach to identify the differences and relationships among the three interpretative methods.The results of the research show that Tafsir bil Ma’tsur relies on transmitted sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, and interpretations of the Companions and Tabi‘in. Tafsir bil Ra’yi emphasizes rational analysis and scholarly reasoning within the framework of Islamic principles, while Tafsir bil Isyari focuses on spiritual and inner meanings often associated with Sufi perspectives. In conclusion, these three approaches complement each other and enrich the understanding of the Qur’an from textual, rational, and spiritual dimensions

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers in addressing digital disruption in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research, drawing on scientific journals, books, and relevant documents from 2020 to 2025. Data collection was conducted through documentary analysis, while data analysis utilized content analysis, following the stages of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results indicate that the primary strategies PAI teachers can implement include strengthening digital competencies, applying the TPACK model, utilizing blended learning, innovating digital learning media, and enhancing digital literacy grounded in Islamic values. Furthermore, collaboration among teachers, schools, and parents serves as a supporting factor in creating a conducive digital learning environment. The study’s conclusion emphasizes that digital disruption is not merely a challenge but also an opportunity to enhance the quality of Islamic Education (PAI) in an adaptive and innovative manner, while remaining grounded in Islamic values.
