Abstract

The Quran, as the holy book of Muslims, is not only understood in a theological dimension but also contains scientific messages relevant to health issues, including the concept of disease prevention. The phenomenon of increasing awareness of preventive health in the modern medical world shows the urgency of reviewing the iʻjāz dimension of the Quran as a source of inspiration for a healthy lifestyle. This study aims to analyze Quranic verses containing preventive messages from the perspective of classical and contemporary interpretations, then integrate them with the theories and findings of modern medical science. The research method employed is a literature study with an interdisciplinary approach, involving an interpretive analysis of thematic verses related to diet, hygiene, lifestyle, and psychological health, which is then contextualized with medical studies. The results show that the Quran emphasizes the principle of moderation in consumption (QS. Al-A'raf: 31), which is in line with the concept of balanced nutrition in medical science, as well as the importance of maintaining cleanliness (QS. Al-Baqarah: 222), which is proven to be relevant to the principles of sanitation and infection prevention. Furthermore, regulating rest time and maintaining peace of mind (QS. Al-Furqan: 47; QS. Ar-Ra’d: 28) has been shown to have a positive correlation with mental health and the immune system. The conclusion of this study confirms that the iʻjāz message of the Quran regarding preventive health can serve as a normative and practical framework for strengthening the paradigm of modern prevention-based medicine, thus affirming the relevance of the Quran as a guide to life that encompasses both spiritual and biological dimensions of humans.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) presents significant opportunities for economic transformation, enhanced public services, and improved bureaucratic efficiency, but also poses serious challenges to human rights protection, including potential privacy violations, algorithmic discrimination, and inadequate legal accountability. In the context of national law, the urgency of AI regulation is growing increasingly important, given that Indonesia is still in the early stages of developing a legal framework capable of balancing the need for innovation with the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights. This study aims to analyze the urgency and direction of artificial intelligence regulation in Indonesia from a national legal perspective, focusing on the balance between encouraging innovation and guaranteeing human rights. The method used is normative juridical research with a legislative and conceptual approach, as well as an analysis of AI regulatory practices in several countries as comparative material. The results show that AI regulation in Indonesia is still partial, spread across a number of sectoral laws, and does not yet provide a comprehensive legal framework. Existing regulations emphasize aspects of personal data protection and cybersecurity, while aspects of ethics, algorithmic accountability, and the legal responsibilities of AI developers and users are still minimally regulated. Comparisons with the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act and AI ethics frameworks in other countries underscore the need for specific regulations that are adaptive, pro-innovation, and grounded in human rights principles. In conclusion, Indonesia needs holistic AI regulations to prevent potential human rights violations and foster a globally competitive innovation ecosystem.

Abstract

Environmental sustainability issues are a global challenge that demands a new, more environmentally friendly economic paradigm, one of which is through the implementation of a circular economy that emphasizes the principles of waste reduction, recycling, and resource reuse. In the Indonesian context, the discourse on the circular economy can be enriched with an Islamic perspective that teaches ecological balance, ethical consumption, and the responsibility of the caliph towards the earth. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Islamic principles, the implementation of the circular economy, and green technology as a sustainability strategy in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study approach, which examines primary and secondary sources related to Islamic teachings, circular economy practices, and green technology policies in Indonesia. The results show that Islamic teachings through the concepts of isrāf and tabżīr provide a normative basis for suppressing consumptive behavior that produces waste, while the values of shūrā and maslaḥah encourage collective participation in environmental management. The implementation of a circular economy in Indonesia is increasingly relevant with the support of green technologies such as renewable energy, sustainable agricultural innovation, and digital waste management that are in line with the maqāṣid al-Syarīʻah. This study also found that integrating Islam and the circular economy can strengthen government policies through regulations based on religious and ecological values, while simultaneously raising public awareness and actively participating in environmentally friendly practices. In conclusion, a circular economy based on Islamic values and supported by green technology has the potential to be a transformative strategy in addressing ecological challenges and sustainable development in Indonesia.

Abstract

The gap in women’s political representation at the village and city levels remains a crucial issue in Indonesian democratic discourse, as women’s representation does not fully reflect the principle of gender equality. Although regulations such as a 30 percent quota for women’s representation have been established, their implementation is often merely formal. It does not translate into increased participation by women in decision-making structures. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the gap in women’s political representation by comparing conditions at the village and city levels through a gender analysis perspective. The research method employed is a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing a library-based approach that incorporates secondary data from academic literature, research reports, government regulations, and statistical data related to women’s political involvement. The results indicate that the gap in women’s representation at the village level is more influenced by a strong patriarchal culture, low access to political education, and the dominance of local elites that limit women’s freedom of movement. Meanwhile, at the city level, obstacles are more caused by transactional political practices, the dominance of economic capital, and institutional biases within the still masculine structure of political parties. However, there are also opportunities at both levels, such as increased public awareness of the importance of women’s political participation, the presence of women’s organizational networks, and regulatory support that encourages more equitable representation. The research conclusion confirms that the gap in women’s political representation is a multidimensional problem that requires intervention through political education, party reform, and strengthening of affirmative regulations so that gender equality in politics can be realized substantively.

Abstract

Changes in the digital communication landscape have shifted radical groups’ recruitment strategies from physical spaces such as mosques to social media platforms, which have become the primary interaction space for Generation Z. The background to this phenomenon indicates that Generation Z, characterized by high connectivity, rapid information mobility, and susceptibility to emotional narratives, is a potential target for the spread of radical ideology packaged in creative and persuasive content. The purpose of this study is to analyze the shift in radical recruitment patterns from mosques to social media, focusing on the mechanisms, appeal, and impact on the religious patterns of Generation Z. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach, reviewing previous research results, reports from international institutions, and analysis of social media content. The results show that social media provides freedom for radical groups to create more personal, interactive, and visually oriented narratives through short videos, memes, and online discussions. Recruitment strategies are no longer centered on direct ideological indoctrination, but rather through soft propaganda approaches such as issues of global injustice, religious identity, and religious lifestyles associated with heroism. Mosques still play a role, but more so in strengthening networks after the initial process is carried out in cyberspace. The research conclusion confirms that social media has become a strategic space in the evolution of radicalism recruitment, and Generation Z requires strong digital-religious literacy to avoid being easily trapped in misleading narratives.

Abstract

This study examines the patriarchal system in Muslim families in Lake Toba, North Sumatra, which is influenced by Batak patrilineal culture and Islamic teachings. As a minority community, Muslim families in this region face strong challenges from the Dalihan Na Tolu tradition that places men as the center of authority. Although Islam emphasizes gender justice and balance, patriarchal practices are still evident in decision-making, role distribution, inheritance rights, and women’s access to public spaces. The objectives of this study are to describe the forms of patriarchy in Muslim families in Lake Toba, analyze Islamic family values based on Quraish Shihab’s Tafsir Al-Lubab, and uncover the potential for creating harmonious families through contextual interpretation of the Qur’an. This study uses a qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews with eight Muslim families and a religious figure, and a study of Tafsir Al-Lubab as the main source. Secondary data came from academic literature, journals, and Dalihan Na Tolu customary rules. The analysis was conducted using the thematic interpretation method (mauḍūʻī) of QS. al-Nisāʻ [4]: 34, QS. al-Rūm [30]: 21, and QS. al-Nisāʻ [4]: 86 to see how Islam offers solutions to patriarchal practices. The results of the study show that patrilineal customs strengthen male dominance in family leadership, especially in aspects of inheritance and strategic decisions. However, a new dynamic emerges when women play a role in the economy, children’s education, and household decisions. Tafsir Al-Lubab emphasizes that qiwāmah is not domination, but rather a trust based on compassion and justice. The values of mawaddah and raḥmah are the basis of a harmonious, equal, and gender-just family.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of poverty in the Tafsir Jalalain and the understanding of the teachers of the Ar-Rasyid Modern Islamic Boarding School regarding its meaning and relevance in the contemporary social context. This study starts from the understanding that poverty is not only economic, but also touches on moral and spiritual dimensions. The study used a qualitative method with an interpretation study approach and in-depth interviews with five pesantren teachers as key informants. Data were analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques by examining the text of the Tafsir Jalalain and relating it to the context of Islamic education. The results show that the teachers understand the concept of poverty in an integrative manner: not just material deficiencies, but also weaknesses in social and spiritual abilities that require collective concern from Muslims. They interpret the teachings of the Tafsir Jalalain as ethical guidelines that encourage concrete actions, such as the empowerment of students and social activities based on Qur’anic values. Thus, pesantren play an important role in actualizing the values of classical interpretation in modern life. This study confirms that the Tafsir Jalalain remains relevant as a source of Islamic education that fosters social awareness, empathy, and justice. It is recommended that classical interpretation studies continue to be developed through an interdisciplinary approach and expanded into the context of community empowerment.

Abstract

The study of the concept of halal thayyibah has become increasingly urgent in the modern era, when consumer lifestyles and food globalization pose challenges to the integrity of the ethical values of Muslim consumption. The phenomenon of shifting meanings of halal, which are often reduced only to the legal aspects of fiqhiyah, encourages the need to re-examine the moral and spiritual dimensions of the teachings of the Quran. This study aims to analyze M. Quraish Shihab’s interpretation of QS. Al-Baqarah: 168 as stated in the Tafsir Al-Mishbah, to reveal the conceptual construction of halal thayyibah food that is complete between legal, ethical, and spiritual aspects. This study uses a qualitative approach with a thematic interpretation method (mauḍūʻī) based on textual analysis, which traces the network of lexical meanings, the context of the revelation of the verses, and the interpretive reasoning used by Quraish Shihab. The results show that linguistically, the terms halal and thayyib contain complementary dimensions between legal validity and substantial goodness that include aspects of health, hygiene, and social welfare. Contextually, Quraish Shihab interprets the verse as a universal call for humans to maintain the sanctity of consumption sources and consumer behavior that aligns with the values of piety. The ethical and spiritual dimensions in this interpretation emphasize the balance between fulfilling physical needs and moral responsibility towards the environment and social justice. The implication is that the concept of halalan thayyibah functions not only as a legal norm but also as a principle of contemporary consumption ethics that guides Muslims to internalize ecological, social, and spiritual awareness in consumption activities. Thus, this research contributes to strengthening the paradigm of modern thematic interpretation that places the value of halalan thayyibah as an integral foundation for a comprehensive Islamic consumption ethic.

Abstract

This research is based on the modern social reality that is still characterized by injustice and violations of workers’ rights, both in the form of labor exploitation, wage inequality, and marginalization of humanitarian values that should be the foundation of work ethics. This phenomenon indicates an urgent need to reinterpret the values of justice in the Qur’an that place humans as dignified subjects in the production process. Based on this context, the research aims to uncover the construction of Sayyid Quṭb’s interpretation of workers’ rights and social justice as stated in his monumental work, Fī Ẓilāl Al-Qur’ān. This research uses a qualitative approach with thematic interpretation analysis method (tafsīr mauḍūʻī), which explores the verses of the Qur’an related to work, wages, social responsibility, and the principle of economic justice. The results show that Sayyid Quṭb views work not only as an economic activity, but also as a form of worship and a manifestation of devotion to God that emphasizes spiritual values in human productive activities. He rejected all forms of exploitation that diminish the dignity of workers and emphasized that the relationship between workers and employers must be built on a balance of rights and obligations, not the dominance of one party. In Quṭb’s view, the ideal Islamic social system creates distributive justice that ensures shared prosperity, with the state playing an active role in upholding fair and ethical economic mechanisms. The implications of this research enrich the discourse on social interpretation of the Qur’an, while also offering conceptual contributions to the formation of an Islamic work ethic and a worker protection system grounded in the values of justice, humanity, and holistic social responsibility.

Abstract

The phenomenon of digital da’wah by Muslim influencers is a new way to disseminate hadith. This research focuses on the way Naisa Alifia Yuriza, a young Muslim influencer on Instagram, presents hadith-based da’wah content, as well as the forms of hadith mediation that appear in the digital narratives she builds. This research aims to understand the transformation of religious authority and the dynamics of popularity in the practice of da’wah in the social media era. This research aims to analyze the practice of hadith mediation in Naisa Alifia Yuriza’s Instagram preaching content as a representation of non-traditional religious authority in the digital space. This research uses a qualitative method with a content analysis approach to Naisa’s Instagram posts, which contain quotes, paraphrases, or implicit references to hadith. The results of the research show that Naisa conveys hadith values, such as hadiths about Allah’s mercy in covering the disgrace of his servants, being kind to Allah, and seeking the night of Laylat al-Qadr on the last ten nights of Ramadan. These hadith are conveyed through personal stories, popular language, and aesthetic visualizations that emphasize moral and motivational aspects over textual authenticity. This study concludes that Naisa’s da’wah reflects a form of hadith mediation that is adaptive to digital culture, where scholarly authority is negotiated through affective communication and visual appeal. However, this form of mediation still poses several significant challenges regarding the authenticity and legitimacy of the hadith she conveys. Some of Naisa’s uploaded content features quotations from popular hadith without citing their sources or quality status, thus opening up the possibility of using ḍaʻīf hadith or even hadith whose authenticity is disputed. Furthermore, the presentation style is very concise and motivational, potentially obscuring the hadith’s original context.
