Abstract

This study looks at the elements of love as they are presented in Jan Hurst’s novel “His Sunrise, My Sunset.” This descriptive qualitative research follows the romance that Jan Hurst had with her husband, whom she had known since they were teenagers. After that, they were blessed with two children and eventually got married, but ultimately, death kept them apart. The researcher used library research techniques on books and journal articles that were pertinent to the theory and the primary data source, which is the novel, in order to obtain information for the study. In addition, the researcher employed descriptive qualitative methodologies to analyze the gathered data. Every piece of data that was collected was examined using Erich Fromm’s 1956 theory. According to Fromm’s idea, “The Art of Loving,” love is an active force that needs knowledge and practice to be maintained. According to Fromm, four elements need to be developed in order to sustain the love you wish to cultivate: care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge. Love is nothing more than an empty emotion that will eventually pass away without these four elements. The study’s findings clearly demonstrate that the foundation of the love shared by the primary characters, Jan Hurst and her husband Steve Hurst, is care, responsibility, respect, and knowledge. In the end, words, sentences, and paragraphs are used to narratively explain each of the study’s findings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of the Social Studies Teacher Forum in improving pedagogical competence, teacher professionalism, and innovation in Social Studies learning at the UPT SPF SMP Negeri 4 Makassar. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of the principal, the head of the subject teachers’ working group, and four social studies teachers who were also members of the subject teachers’ working group. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation, with data analysis including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions/verification. The results showed that the teacher forum contributed to improving teachers’ pedagogical competence through understanding the material, preparing lesson plans, and evaluating learning. However, the effectiveness of the Teacher Forum depends on the active participation of teachers and school support. In addition, the Teacher Forum also plays a role in improving teachers' professional competence, especially in mastering subject matter, utilising technology, and developing continuous professionalism. Nevertheless, the active participation of teachers and school support is essential to maximise the benefits of the Teacher Forum. The Teacher Forum also encourages innovation in social studies learning, but its success is influenced by teacher involvement, school support, and student readiness. Therefore, more concrete efforts are needed to optimise the role of the teacher forum in developing innovative learning strategies.

Abstract

Intergovernmental relations and local government performance in Nigeria's Imo State were the subjects of this study. Secondary data was gathered by reviewing textbooks, journals, magazines, online resources, and published and unpublished materials. Primary data was gathered by administering questionnaires to 270 respondents, who were selected from a sample population of 30 employees from each of the nine (9) local governments, three of which were chosen from each senatorial zone. According to the report, intergovernmental connections make sure that the various governmental levels use human and material resources effectively and efficiently. In a true federalism, it fosters the development of cooperation rather than rivalry. However, local governments lack sufficient funds, particularly from the state government. The effectiveness of local government is impacted by the usage of Transition Committees, Caretaker Committees, and even Sole Administrators. The researcher suggested that in order to address the irregularities, local governments should have elected governing bodies, practice true federalism, apply the rule of law principle, have their constitutionally specified areas of jurisdiction, and grant local governments autonomy. All of the aforementioned will guarantee that Imo State's local governments operate effectively
