Abstract

This study examines the implementation of premarital education management in fostering harmonious families (keluarga sakinah) at the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of Padangsidimpuan City, specifically in the North, South, and Southeast districts of Padangsidimpuan, conducted starting in September 2022. Marriage is a fundamental human need; besides being an act of worship to Allah, it also serves as a legitimate means of establishing proper and lawful relationships, thereby creating a harmonious family. This research employs a qualitative method with a normative descriptive approach to describe and analyze phenomena in the field. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis is conducted through examination, marking, reconstruction, and systematization of data. To ensure data validity, techniques such as prolonged participation, diligent observation, triangulation, and member checking were used. The results indicate that the functions of premarital education management—including planning, organizing, implementation, and control—have been carried out effectively. This is expected to enhance participants’ understanding of creating a happy family characterized by sakinah (tranquility), mawaddah (love), and rahmah (compassion). Supporting factors for the program’s success include participants’ willingness to attend and actively participate, competent resource persons, and staff carrying out their duties responsibly. Conversely, inhibiting factors identified include delays or absences of some participants and insufficient funding or budget constraints. Overall, premarital education management at KUA Padangsidimpuan has played a crucial role in equipping prospective couples with the knowledge and understanding necessary to build harmonious families, although challenges remain that need improvement, particularly regarding participant engagement and budget availability.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth and analyze the importance of implementing 4C skills in elementary school learning, as well as to describe teachers’ strategies in fostering and developing these skills among students. This is related to the advancement of science and technology in the 21st century, which demands that the education sector produce human resources with critical thinking, creative, communicative, and collaborative abilities. These four competencies are known as the 4C skills (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration). This study employs a literature review (library research) method by collecting several articles from Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and other academic journal websites using specific keywords such as 4C Skills, 21st-Century Learning, Elementary School, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration. The results of the review indicate that the implementation of 4C skills in elementary schools can enhance higher-order thinking skills, foster learner autonomy, and strengthen students’ character to prepare them for global challenges. Teachers play a crucial role as facilitators in creating active, innovative, and collaborative learning environments through the application of various instructional models, such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL), Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), and Team Games Tournament (TGT).

Abstract

This study is motivated by the continued presence of negative behaviors among students in various educational institutions, including general schools, madrasahs, and Islamic boarding schools, such as smoking, truancy, dating, and theft. Similar phenomena have also occurred at Al-Azhar Bi’Ibadillah Islamic Boarding School. However, this institution has sought to reduce such negative behaviors through the implementation of a mentoring program. Therefore, this study aims to examine the process of internalizing moral values through the mentoring program. The objectives of this study are to identify the moral conditions of male and female students, to analyze the stages of moral value internalization within the mentoring program, and to examine the challenges and efforts undertaken by murobbi and murobbiyah in internalizing moral values through the mentoring program. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data sources consist of primary and secondary sources. The primary data were obtained from murobbi and murobbiyah, while the secondary data included the heads of Madrasah Aliyah and Madrasah Tsanawiyah, the foundation chairman, and Islamic Religious Education teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings indicate that the mentoring program effectively fosters students’ moral conduct toward Allah SWT, parents, teachers, oneself, peers, and the wider community. The internalization of moral values is carried out through several stages, namely value transformation, value transaction, transinternalization, and material deepening. The challenges encountered include limited facilities, insufficient teacher understanding, lack of cooperation, and students’ difficult-to-manage behavior. Efforts to address these challenges involve preventive, persuasive, cooperative, and repressive approaches, as well as the strengthening of religious education and Islamic spiritual development.

Abstract

Bidayatul Hidayah, written by Imam Al-Ghazali, provides comprehensive guidance on moral education by emphasizing sincerity, self-awareness, and the cultivation of noble character. In the context of education in Indonesia, the moral values presented in Bidayatul Hidayah are highly relevant to the elements of the Pancasila Student Profile, which focuses on character development, nationalism, and social justice. Elements such as noble character, mutual cooperation, independence, creativity, and patriotism are consistent with Al-Ghazali’s teachings on maintaining harmonious social relationships and living according to strong moral principles. The objectives of this study are to identify the elements of moral education contained in Bidayatul Hidayah and to examine the relevance of its moral education concepts to the elements of the Pancasila Student Profile. This study employs a library research approach, which aims to understand phenomena experienced by the subject of the study—such as behavior, perceptions, motivations, and actions—in a holistic manner through descriptive analysis using words and language within a specific natural context while utilizing various scientific methods. The findings reveal that the concept of moral education in Bidayatul Hidayah by Imam Al-Ghazali has a strong relevance to the elements of the Pancasila Student Profile. The teachings in this work emphasize the importance of developing good character through sincerity, self-awareness, and virtuous conduct, thereby supporting the formation of individuals with noble morals and integrity. Furthermore, the values embodied in Bidayatul Hidayah, including mutual cooperation, justice, and independence, are in harmony with the goals of education in Indonesia, which seek to produce students who are not only intellectually competent but also possess a strong sense of responsibility toward their nation and country.

Abstract

Character education at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Nahdhatul Ulama Sibuhuan differs from that of other Islamic junior high schools. Since its establishment, the school has consistently implemented a daily seven-minute religious lecture (kultum) during the morning assembly and, more recently, has introduced the weekly recitation of Surah Yasin every Friday. These distinctive practices motivated the researcher to conduct this study at the institution. This study aims to identify the strategies used to develop character education and to examine the supporting and inhibiting factors encountered by teachers in implementing character education at MTs Nahdhatul Ulama Sibuhuan. The study employed a qualitative field research approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that teachers develop students' character by instilling religious values, honesty, discipline, nationalism, and appreciation for achievement. The supporting factors include teachers' personal approach to students, special attention given to individual learners, effective coordination among teachers, and the establishment of a school culture that promotes noble moral values. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include students' lack of self-awareness, limited parental support regarding disciplinary measures implemented by school supervisors, and parental interference in the school's character-building and educational processes. To address these challenges, the school emphasizes strong commitment and motivation among teachers and supervisors, mutual understanding among school supervisors, parents, and students regarding the implementation of school regulations, continuous improvement of the supervisors' human resources, strengthened collaboration among teachers, and teachers serving as exemplary role models for students.
