Abstract

Objective: This study aims to find out the relationship between academic boredom and the intensity of playing online games on the level of aggressiveness in vocational students. Method: In this study, researchers used a group of research subjects from a population, namely students and female students of class XI SMK X in Mojokerto City. While the number of samples in this study amounted to 5% of the total population, namely 221 students. In this study, simple random sampling technique was used as the sampling technique. Simple random sampling means giving the same opportunity to each member of the population used to become a research sample. This research is quantitative research, which is a quantitative non-experiment with a correlational approach. The data collection method used is a viewing behavior scale and an aggressive behavior scale with a Likert-shaped scale model. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple correlation. All data analysis calculations were carried out using the SPSS application. Result: The results of the analysis show a positive and significant relationship between academic boredom and the intensity of playing online games with the level of aggressive behavior in vocational students, suggesting that higher levels of boredom and frequent gaming are associated with increased aggression. Novelty: In previous research conducted by Nabila & Sugandi, the relationship between the intensity of watching violent shows and the level of aggressive behavior was studied in adolescent targets. Therefore, in this study, researchers want to examine these two variables with a more specific target, namely vocational students. In addition, the variable of aggressiveness behavior has never been studied with the variable of academic boredom.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to identify and analyze the relationship between academic stress level and online game addiction tendency among students at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Taman. In the digital era, online gaming has become a popular phenomenon among students, but it also has the potential to cause addiction that can have a negative impact on academic aspects and mental health. Method: The method used in this study was a quantitative non-experiment involving 182 students randomly drawn from the population of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Taman. Data were collected using a Likert scale designed to measure academic stress levels and online game addiction tendencies. Results: The results of the analysis using the Spearman correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between academic stress level and online game addiction tendency, with a correlation coefficient of 0.161 and a significance value of p = 0.030. This finding indicates that the higher the level of academic stress experienced by students, the greater their tendency to experience addiction to online games. Novelty: This study provides important insights for educational institutions to develop interventions that can assist students in managing stress and preventing addictive behaviors. Implications of the results include the need for preventive approaches in education to support students' mental health, including counseling services and stress management training. By understanding this relationship, it is expected to reduce the negative impact of academic stress on addictive behaviors among students.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy, hardiness, and burnout among nurses, considering burnout as a psychological response to prolonged occupational stress. Method: Utilizing a correlational quantitative design, the study involved 161 nurses selected through random sampling from a population of 300. Data were collected using validated psychological scales: a self-efficacy scale (38 items, α = 0.829), a hardiness scale (16 items, α = 0.820), and a burnout scale (32 items, α = 0.973). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression via IBM SPSS 30.0. Results: The analysis revealed a significant joint influence of self-efficacy and hardiness on burnout (F(3.00) = 62.778; p < .001). Furthermore, partial tests indicated that both self-efficacy (t = -8.609, p < .001) and hardiness (t = -2.900, p = .004) had significant negative effects on burnout, suggesting that higher levels of these psychological traits are associated with lower levels of burnout. Novelty: This study contributes to the field by empirically demonstrating the protective roles of self-efficacy and hardiness against burnout in healthcare professionals, offering evidence-based insights for psychological resilience-building interventions in high-stress clinical environments.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to examine the impact of social media addiction on depression levels among adolescents at Maryam High School in Surabaya, motivated by growing concerns over the mental health consequences of excessive digital engagement. Method: Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 100 students selected through saturated sampling. Data were gathered using the Social Media Addiction Scale Student Form (SMAS-SF) and the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II), and analyzed via simple linear regression using JASP software. Results: The analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between social media addiction and depression (r = 0.615, p < 0.001), with a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.360, indicating that 36% of the variance in depression levels could be attributed to social media addiction. The regression model (Y = -19.832 + 0.406X) further demonstrated that higher addiction scores predicted increased depressive symptoms. Novelty: This study contributes to the growing body of evidence linking social media use and adolescent mental health by providing specific data from an urban Indonesian context, thereby informing targeted school-based interventions to address digital well-being and emotional resilience in adolescents.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to critically review gender differences in empathy among early adults in Indonesia, considering the influencing factors. Method: A systematic literature review identified relevant articles using predefined keywords through comprehensive Indonesian and international database searches. Inclusion criteria required articles to be published between 2015 and 2025 in reputable journals, involve Indonesian early adult participants, and explicitly address gender-related differences in empathy.  Results: Based on the screening results, 12 articles met the specified criteria. After the analysis, no consistent results were found regarding gender differences in empathy, but there were consistent patterns. The research results indicate that significant differences between men and women can vary depending on the sample involved, the education pursued, and the family background. Novelty: This study maps context-specific empathy differences based on gender within Indonesian culture. It also highlights empathy during early adulthood– a transitional life stage still underexplored in local research, especially from a gender perspective.

Abstract

Objective: Globalization that encourages modernization causes significant changes in lifestyle, including the increase in hedonistic lifestyles among students. This hedonistic lifestyle can be a factor that affects the quality of life of students. Method: This study involved 100 participants who were active university students in Malang City. Data was collected using an online survey with google form containing questions using a Likert scale to measure hedonism and students' quality of life. The measuring instruments used were the Hedonic Motivation Scale and WHOQOL-BREF. Results: Data analysis was carried out by conducting reliability tests, validity tests, assumption tests, and simple regression tests. The results of the reliability test with Cronbach alpha are 0.813 on the hedonism lifestyle scale and 0.917 on the quality of life scale, which means that the scale used is reliable because the value is> 0.7. While the validity test results show that reliable items are also declared valid because r count > r table. The results of simple regression analysis show that the hedonism lifestyle has an influence of 17.5% on the quality of life of students. Novelty: This research specifically relates two variables to the context of student life and this research uses a quantitative approach with a simple regression analysis method that provides results on the extent to which hedonistic lifestyles can affect the quality of life of students, this is still rarely discussed in depth in the literature that researchers encounter.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to investigate the contributing factors to identity insecurity among adolescents in the context of rapid digital development and intense social interaction. Method: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed by analyzing nine peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2025, focusing on psychological theories, social dynamics, and the influence of social media. Results: The findings reveal that excessive use of social media, a strong tendency toward social comparison, low self-esteem, feelings of loneliness, and external social pressures significantly contribute to identity insecurity in adolescents. These factors disrupt the formation of a stable self-concept, especially in environments shaped by digital idealization and societal expectations. Novelty: This study offers a comprehensive synthesis of interdisciplinary perspectives, integrating psychological and sociocultural insights to enhance understanding of adolescent identity development in the digital era. The research emphasizes the urgency of targeted digital literacy programs and personalized counseling interventions to mitigate identity insecurity risks.
