Abstract

Field Experience Practice is a program aimed at improving the quality of learning and field practice. The goal of the 2025 PPL program for Battuta University Early Childhood Education (PAUD) at Pangeran Antasari Kindergarten, located at Jl. Veteran No. 1060/19, Labuhan Deli District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, was to provide kindergarten teachers with hands-on practice teaching in kindergarten. The PPL program encouraged Pangeran Antasari Kindergarten teachers to teach the Daily Activity Plan (RKH) and learning media. The program implemented programs such as toothbrushing, providing little doctors, decorating classrooms, organizing the school health center (UKS) and procuring first aid kits. The program also improved classroom and school administration, and procuring Educational Play Equipment (APE) to complement the toys and media used to support the learning process. Overall, the PPL program met its targets, as evidenced by the successful implementation of all planned programs. This was achieved thanks to the collaboration between students, the Pangeran Antasari Kindergarten community, the Field Supervisor, and other relevant parties who assisted in the implementation of the PPL program. The results of the program implementation showed that all activities.

Abstract

Science learning is a fun way for early childhood. Science can be defined as something that stimulates curiosity, interest, problem-solving, and leads to thinking and action, such as reflection, the relationship between concepts and events, and observation. However, what happens in the field is that children sometimes feel bored during the learning process in the classroom. This occurs because the methods or media used by teachers do not attract children's interest in participating in the learning process. This community service activity was carried out with the aim of attracting children's interest in learning so that all aspects of their development can run optimally. The methods used in this community service were experiments, play, and question and answer. This community service activity was carried out at RA Al-Hajjah, Percut Sei Tuan District, with a total of 23 children. After this community service activity, the children became more enthusiastic about the learning process. Children also practiced their critical thinking skills in problem-solving. This can also serve as a reference for teachers to make learning more enjoyable and creative.

Abstract

This community service activity addresses the persistent issue of low learning independence among children living in social welfare institutions, who often rely heavily on passive instructional methods and direct supervision. The primary objective is to enhance the self-regulated learning capacities of orphanage residents through structured project-based mentoring. The methodology employed a participatory service-learning approach involving thirty adolescents between the ages of twelve and fifteen. Data collection was conducted using self-reliance questionnaires, observation rubrics, and project outcome evaluations to measure shifts in attitudes and social-cultural dynamics. The findings indicate a significant transformation in the participants' learning behaviors, with a notable increase in time management skills and personal initiative. All participant groups successfully completed their assigned projects, ranging from digital content creation to simple environmental management, demonstrating a shift from dependence to proactive engagement. Furthermore, the initiative successfully established a new institutional framework for caregivers to facilitate more interactive and autonomous learning environments. In conclusion, the project-based mentoring model provides a robust solution for fostering autonomy and problem-solving skills in marginalized youth. While the program faced logistical challenges, its success suggests that empowering children with tangible responsibilities can effectively break the cycle of educational passivity. Future iterations of this program should explore the integration of digital platforms to sustain these gains and broaden the socio-economic impact for orphans transitioning to independent living.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of the Education 4.0 era necessitates a fundamental transformation in the role of educators from conventional instructors to digital leaders capable of managing change, yet significant challenges persist regarding the readiness of human resources and the existence of rigid organizational cultures that resist technological integration. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of digital leadership and foster an adaptive organizational culture among educators at Senior High School Bandung Percut Sei Tuan. The implementation method utilized a participatory training approach involving thirty-five educators and administrative staff, encompassing needs assessment surveys, interactive workshops, conflict management simulations, and the formulation of follow-up plans for digital innovation. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated through a comparative analysis of pre-test and post-test scores as well as participant satisfaction assessments. The results indicated a significant increase in cognitive competence, marked by a rise in the average understanding score from 51.4 to 80.1, with the highest improvement observed in the aspect of digital leadership strategies at 62 percent. Qualitatively, the activity successfully minimized teacher resistance to technology and cultivated a culture of intergenerational collaboration through reverse mentoring initiatives. It is concluded that this socialization serves as an effective strategic step in preparing the mental readiness and work culture of the school to face the dynamics of sustainable digital transformation.

Abstract

Nutritional problems among infants and toddlers remain a significant concern in Indonesia’s health development, particularly in areas with limited access to health information and services. This community service activity aimed to conduct anthropometric measurements as an early detection strategy for assessing the nutritional status of infants and toddlers, as well as to provide nutrition education for parents in Laucih Village, Medan Tuntungan District. The activity was carried out by lecturers and students of the Bachelor of Nutrition Study Program at the North Sumatra Institute of Health (INKESSUMUT) as part of the 2026 Community Service Program organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of INKESSUMUT. The implementation method involved measuring body weight, body height/length, and mid–upper arm circumference (MUAC) of 10 toddlers using WHO-standardized measuring instruments. The collected data were analyzed using the WHO Z-score reference to determine nutritional status. In addition to anthropometric assessment, nutrition education was provided to mothers of toddlers, focusing on the importance of balanced nutrition, appropriate feeding practices, and routine growth monitoring through Posyandu services. The results showed that among the 10 toddlers assessed, 60% had normal nutritional status, while 40% were classified as being at risk of stunting. Notably, one child within the stunting-risk group was also identified as having undernutrition. These findings indicate that, although the majority of toddlers exhibited normal nutritional status, a substantial proportion remains vulnerable to growth-related nutritional problems. This underscores the need for continuous and sustainable community service initiatives with a more integrated approach, including capacity building for community health cadres and the use of local data to support targeted nutrition intervention planning.

Abstract

  This community service program aims to improve the quality of learning in early grade elementary classrooms through the implementation of a play-based learning model. The target participants were first- and second-grade teachers at SDN 060839, located at Jl. Danau Singkarak No. 2C. The identified problems included the use of monotonous teaching approaches, low levels of active student participation, and limited use of enjoyable and developmentally appropriate learning media for young learners. Through this program, the service team provided training, mentoring, and simulation sessions on the implementation of a play-based learning model using an integrative thematic approach. The model emphasizes students’ active engagement through educational games, motor activities, and simple interactive media that are easy for teachers to design and apply. The activities were conducted in several stages: initial observation, workshops/training sessions, classroom mentoring, and evaluation of implementation outcomes. The results indicate an improvement in teachers’ creativity in designing play-oriented learning activities and an increase in students’ engagement during the teaching and learning process. The program received positive responses from both teachers and the school principal, who stated that the model effectively creates a more enjoyable and meaningful learning environment for early grade students. It is recommended that this program be expanded to other grade levels to ensure broader and more sustainable impact.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of low literacy skills (reading and writing) and numeracy (calculation) of elementary school children in Hamlet II, Sauh Village, Tembung, this is seen from the lack of basic reading and arithmetic skills. This study aims to implement a Calisrung (Read, Write, Calculate) mentoring program for elementary school children in Hamlet II, Sauh Village, Tembung. The methods used are the preparation stage (observation and problem identification), implementation, and evaluation. The results show that there is an increase in students' interest in learning and basic abilities in arithmetic and reading after the implementation of this program. Thus, the Calistung mentoring program is effective as an effort to strengthen early literacy and numeracy for elementary school children.

The increasing demand for food and beverages in North Sumatra will undoubtedly create business opportunities for the community. The rapid growth of the food and beverage business is evident in the large number of people engaged in culinary businesses. Individual economic stability is a crucial prerequisite for achieving well-being and financial independence. The Community Service Program (PKM), entitled Education on Spatial Planning Concepts and Menu Creativity for Visitor Interest aims to increase literacy, interest, and skills in spatial planning concepts through outreach and discussion. This activity involves introducing the basic concepts of personal economic stability and fostering interest in initiating spatial planning concepts and creativity among business owners. These findings indicate that the program has successfully motivated business owners to develop or modify existing concepts to make students feel comfortable purchasing from their stalls. Creativity in exploring food courts based on local wisdom is expressed through interior design inspired by a particular ethnic group, showcasing its distinctive elements. Furthermore, the comfort and ambiance of the food court are key reasons for visitors to visit. This research is highly relevant for several reasons. First, the ever-growing and competitive nature of food courts makes it crucial to understand how to leverage local wisdom to differentiate and attract customers. Second, food courts play an increasingly significant role in business and culture, making it crucial to understand their business practices, including creativity within the food court context. Finally, with increasing globalization and homogenization in the food and beverage industry, emphasizing local wisdom can help maintain cultural and culinary diversity.

Abstract

Rancamaya Village in South Bogor has significant potential as a tourism village, particularly in agro-tourism based on its renowned durian cultivation, natural scenery, and Sundanese cultural heritage. However, the community faces challenges in developing this potential in an integrated, sustainable manner. This community service activity aimed to assist the community of Rancamaya Village in developing an eco-edutourism-based tourism village through training, facilitation, and mentoring. The methods employed included participatory rural appraisal (PRA), Focus Group Discussion (FGD), workshops, field practice, and ongoing mentoring. The activity involved community members, Pokdarwis management, and local government representatives. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding of eco-edutourism concepts (78%), improvement in the ability to design educational tourism packages, strengthened Pokdarwis institutional capacity, and the formulation of a village tourism development roadmap integrating ecological, educational, and cultural elements. This activity demonstrated that a participatory mentoring approach can effectively accelerate the development of sustainable eco-edutourism in rural communities.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve household welfare in Labuhan Deli District by strengthening the aspects of income, education, and health. The program was implemented to increase community awareness and capacity in managing household economic activities, supporting educational development, and promoting healthy living practices among family members. The target participants of this activity were households categorized as economically vulnerable in the community. The methods used in this program included socialization, training, counseling, and community mentoring. These activities were conducted through a participatory approach involving group discussions, educational sessions, and practical guidance related to household financial management, the importance of education for children, and basic health practices such as hygiene and preventive care. In addition, monitoring and evaluation were carried out to observe changes in knowledge and behavior among participants after the implementation of the program. The results show that participants experienced increased understanding of household income management, improved awareness of the importance of education, and better knowledge of maintaining family health. Participants also demonstrated positive responses and active participation during the mentoring sessions. In conclusion, the assistance program contributed positively to strengthening the economic, educational, and health capacities of households, thereby supporting sustainable improvements in community welfare.
