Abstract

The development of technology has driven the emergence of electric vehicles as one of the most important innovations in the transportation world that supports environmental sustainability. This study aims to examine the construction of electric vehicle terminology through morphological processes, including compound, derivation, and acronym. The research data was obtained from the electric vehicle User's Manuals available on the official websites of electric vehicle manufacturers. This study uses a qualitative approach, with data in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The data collection method used was non-participatory observation method, where the researcher observes the construction of electric vehicle terminology through morphological processes of compound, derivation, and acronym, and then records it. Additionally, interviews were conducted with manufacturers, electric vehicle mechanics, linguists, and cultural experts to deepen the understanding of these terminologies. In data analysis, the researcher refers to the theories of McCarty (2002) and Lieber (2009) to classify the morphological processes of word formation based on the identified terminology. This theory was applied to group words, phrases, and sentences containing compounds, derivations, and acronyms. Additionally, Leech's (1981) theory was used to analyze the lexical and grammatical meanings of these terminologies. After the data was collected, a series of analysis stages are carried out, including data reduction, classification, verification, tabulation, interpretation, and conclusion. The results show that there were three types of morphological processes in the formation of electric vehicle terminology: derivation, abbreviation, and compound. Terminology with the derivation process was found in 9 data with the suffix "-ing." Terminology with the abbreviation process was recorded in 25 data, with forms ranging from two to four letters. Meanwhile, terminology with the compound process was found in 14 data, with the most dominant structure being noun + noun. These findings contribute to a better understanding of electric vehicle terminology, which may assist linguists, technical writers, and industry professionals in standardizing terminology use

The violations that often occur are violations maxim of quantity, this occurs because participants in speech in the event convey information beyond what interlocutor wants. The violations that often occur are violations maxim of quantity. This occurs because the participants in event convey information that interlocutor does not want, such as when expressing their opinions they often exaggerate. This study aims to analyze the influence of ecotourism destination attributes on visitors' intentions for visiting, revisiting, and recommending in Bandar Lampung. Using a cultural semiotics approach, this research focuses on the attributes present in ecotourism destinations and identifies and interprets signs, symbols, and meanings that may influence visitors' interest. This study adopts a mixed-methods approach that integrates both quantitative and qualitative elements. Interviews with visitors, managers, and local communities provide in-depth qualitative insights into their perceptions and experiences regarding the ecotourism destination. These qualitative data are then analyzed alongside the quantitative data to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the influence of destination attributes on visitors' intentions. The survey, involving 116 respondents, used a research instrument containing 39 questions, designed based on purchase decision theory and marketing mix. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and multinomial regression. The findings of this study reveal that visitors tend to interpret cultural symbols based on their personal experiences and social backgrounds. For example, some visitors associate certain symbols with modern values, while others understand them in the context of deeper traditions. Therefore, interpretations of cultural symbols can vary depending on individual perspectives, reflecting the complexity of understanding culture in a broader context. These findings also emphasize that visitor behavior iss greatly influenced by how they interpret symbols and meanings within the cultural ecosystem in Bandar Lampung. Furthermore, the study reveals how ecotourism attributes shape visitor experience and satisfaction, as well as the role of local cultural elements in deepening their understanding of ecotourism. Therefore, the findings of this study provide a significant contribution to the development of sustainable ecotourism, emphasizing the importance of cultural aspects in the design and management of nature-based tourism destinations

A qualitative approach is used to focus in-depth observation and analysis on the short story Dancing in Paradise by Agustrijanto. This research is based on the theory of Bertens (2004) with a qualitative descriptive research method with data in the form of quotes in short stories. The data collection technique uses the reading and recording technique (hermeneutics).  The results of the study show that there are three moral values in the short story Dancing in Heaven by Agustrijanto, namely the first moral value related to responsibility consisting of hard work, never giving up, education, the second moral value of conscience consists of helping, sadness, sincerity, and the third moral value of obligation consists of worship and caring for others. From the analysis conducted by the researcher, it can be concluded that the short story Dancing in Heaven by Agustrijanto reveals that humans cannot be separated from the moral value of responsibility which is a fundamental aspect in social existence, it is difficult for humans to escape from the moral values of conscience and obligation because both are part of human personality that provide guidelines and behaviors that maintain order in life together. Through literary works such as the short story Dancing in Paradise it is able to prevent and filter the occurrence of moral crises in society which can then be implemented in all spheres of life both to families, leaders or fellow humans.

Abstract

The effective expression of arguments in academic writing is largely shaped by rhetorical strategies, particularly hedges and boosters, which aid in managing certainty and engagement. This study employs a qualitative design with a corpus-based approach, utilizing 144 abstracts from bachelor's theses, master's theses, and doctoral dissertations in Indonesian language education. The abstracts were extracted, converted to text format, and organized into three corpora based on academic level. Using AntConc 4.1.4, softening and strengthening words were identified based on Hyland's (2005) grammatical classification and Hyland's (1998) pragmatic framework. The analysis included the identification of lexical words, calculation of their frequency, and interpretation of their use at various academic levels. To ensure validity, selected examples were analyzed qualitatively to reveal patterns of metadiscursive strategy use by students when presenting scientific claims. The findings indicate undergraduate and master's students primarily use hedges, particularly modal verbs like "can", "could", and "may" to express cautious claims, while doctoral students more frequently use boosters, especially lexical verbs such as "prove", "show", and "assert", reflecting greater assertiveness and confidence. Pragmatic analysis reveals that both hedges and boosters serve mainly accuracy- and writer-oriented functions, with limited reader-oriented use. These results suggest a rhetorical shift from cautious to assertive claims in line with academic maturity. The study highlights fostering students’ awareness of rhetorical strategies for effective scientific communication.

Abstract

Both the speaker and the interlocutor are aware that there are rules governing their actions, language use, and interpretation of the actions and utterances of the interlocutor. Each participant in the speech act is responsible for their actions and deviations from linguistic rules in the linguistic interaction. The purpose of this study is to describe violations of the principles of conversational cooperation and implicature found in the Spongebob Squarepants animated film episode Cinta Tetangga. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. This study was conducted by observing and then analyzing excerpts from the main character's conversations that contain violations of cooperation and implicatures found in the film. The results of this study four maxims were violated: the maxim of quantity with 5 instances of violation, the maxim of quality with 2 instances of violation, the maxim of relevance with 6 instances of violation, and the maxim of manner with 2 instances of violation. In addition to cooperation violations, implications were found regarding the violation of the four maxims. The implicature of the maxim of quantity includes providing information, expressing objection, informing, requesting assistance, and advising. The implicature of quality includes knowing the data and feeling afraid. The implicature of relevance includes diverting the conversation, following the data, refusing to assist, and informing about the data. Finally, the implicature of the maxim of manner includes covering up ignorance and covering up something.
