Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The background of this research is the high incidence of sexual violence in Indonesia, which leaves complex trauma, while healing approaches often neglect cultural-religious dimensions. The narrative of Amnon and Tamar (2 Sam. 13:1-22) depicts trauma dynamics and systemic support failures. This research aims to reflect on this narrative to formulate contextual trauma healing principles for survivors of sexual abuse in Indonesia. Using qualitative textual-narrative analysis and contextual theological reflection, the discussion identifies three main principles neglected in the response to Tamar: creating safe space (safety), acknowledgment and mourning (remembrance and mourning), and reconnection through restorative justice (reconnection through restorative justice). These principles are relevant for addressing the culture of silence, stigma, and authority failures in Indonesia, while demanding a transformative role for faith communities as safe spaces, long-term companions, and agents of justice. This research concludes that this biblical narrative provides a strong reflective basis for building a holistic and contextual trauma-healing model in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct Paul’s soteriological structure in Romans 1:16–17 through an analysis of the relationship between the gospel, the power of God, the righteousness of God, faith, and salvation. Although Romans 1:16–17 is recognized as the theological thesis of the Epistle to the Romans, previous studies have tended to discuss these concepts separately, so that the theological connections between them have not been systematically explained. Based on a qualitative method grounded in a literature review, this study demonstrates that Romans 1:16–17 contains a coherent soteriological structure, wherein the Gospel serves as the means of revealing God’s power, God’s power manifests God’s righteousness, God’s righteousness is received through faith, and faith leads humanity to salvation. The novelty of this study lies in the formulation of a structural model of Paul’s soteriology that integrates these five elements into a single theological unity.

Abstract

Generation Z has a high vulnerability to the phenomenon of toxic relationships due to the strong need for social validation in the digital era. The impact of this destructive relationship often leaves deep inner wounds, anxiety, and cognitive distortion in the form of irrational beliefs that erode their self-worth before God. Conventional psychological approaches such as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) are effective in changing irrational mindsets, but often lack the spiritual identity crisis of the victim. This research aims to construct an integration model between the REBT approach and the values of the Christian faith in the practice of pastoral counseling for the holistic healing of Generation Z's inner wounds. This research uses a qualitative approach with the library research method. The data analysis technique is carried out through three main stages: conceptual analysis of REBT, theological analysis of biblical texts, and integrative analysis to formulate contextual pastoral counseling models. The results of the study showed that the integration of the G-A-B-C-D-E model in REBT with pastoral counseling was able to transform the victim's mindset. The process of disputation is sharpened into a cognitive-spiritual (empirical-theological, logical-spiritual, and pragmatic-functional) disputation using the truth of God's word (Ps. 139:14, Rom. 12:2) to renew the mind and deconstruct the trauma of bonding. This integration resulted in an Effective New Philosophy in the form of a healthy and solid restoration of self-identity in Christ, so that Generation Z no longer relies on human validation but on God's love.

Abstract

The Book of Hosea presents a theological tension between judgment and restoration, both of which dominate God’s relationship with Israel. This issue raises questions regarding the theological basis that explains the coherence of God’s actions amid the people’s unfaithfulness. Previous studies generally interpret ḥeseḏ as love, faithfulness, restoration, or ethical demands, but have not specifically examined its theological function in explaining the relationship between judgment and restoration within the overall message of Hosea. This study aims to analyze the theological function of ḥeseḏ and its contribution to understanding God’s faithfulness in the Book of Hosea. The research was conducted through a literature review using a biblical theology approach and a theological-thematic analysis of Hosea 2:19–20; 4:1; 6:4, 6; 10:12; and 12:6. The results of the study indicate that ḥeseḏ functions as a relational category that explains the covenant crisis, the basis for divine judgment, and the possibility of the people’s restoration. This study concludes that ḥeseḏ reveals God’s consistency in upholding His covenantal commitment, such that both judgment and restoration are understood as manifestations of the same divine faithfulness. Recommendations for further research focus on an intertextual study of the development of ḥeseḏ within the Old Testament prophetic tradition.

Abstract

The contemporary ecological crisis is often linked to the anthropocentric paradigm. The Bible is frequently challenged because certain interpretations of human authority are seen as legitimizing environmental exploitation. The primary issue lies not within the scriptural text itself, but rather within the problematic interpretation of it. Originally, the text of Psalm 8 contains no exploitative language; instead, it emphasizes humanity's absolute dependence on God. This qualitative, library-based research presents an ecotheological reading of Psalm 8:6–9. Employing morphological-syntactic analysis of the Hebrew text—encompassing verbal subjects, objects of action, verbal stems, and syntactic relations—as its primary method, this study uses the Earth Perspective framework as a reflective lens. The analytical focus is applied to the verbal stems of three main verbs in Psalm 8:6–7: watteḥassĕrēhû (Piel stem), watteʿaṭṭĕrēhû (Piel stem), and tamšîlēhû (Hiphil stem). Analysis of the pronominal object suffixes on these verbs consistently displays God as the active subject, while humans appear merely as recipients of divine action. This grammatical structure establishes the theological foundation that human dignity and authority over creation (verses 8–9) are gifts and delegated mandates rather than autonomous rights. Consequently, the human relationship with creation must shift from domination to ecological responsibility.
