Abstract

The low level of digital literacy among students and teachers in rural areas remains a challenge, while the ability to read and write the Qur’an (BTQ) is still uneven. Through the Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) Group 1 of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, held in Dukuh Slorok, Cepoko Village, Ngrayun District, this activity aimed to improve basic technological competencies (Microsoft Word, Canva, and Artificial Intelligence) and to strengthen BTQ skills among elementary and junior high school students. The implementation method used a participatory approach through socialization, hands-on practice, and intensive mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests, teacher questionnaires, and observation of students’ BTQ progress. The results showed increased student skills in document processing, teachers’ ability to create digital learning media, and improvement in students’ Qur’an reading and writing proficiency. The program demonstrates that digital literacy and religious education can work synergistically and provide dual benefits.

Abstract

The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN Tematik) is a concrete form of the university’s contribution to community engagement through the application of science and appropriate technology. One such activity is the development of a corn cob chopper machine in Cepoko Village, Ponorogo Regency, aimed at improving farmers’ welfare by utilizing agricultural waste that has not been optimally used. This project applies the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, involving the community actively from the stages of problem identification, design, machine fabrication, to the use of chopped materials for fermented animal feed. The results show that the machine improves waste processing efficiency, produces versatile products, and creates new business opportunities. Environmentally, it reduces waste burning, while economically, it lowers livestock feed costs. Thematic KKN serves not only as a learning platform for students but also promotes innovation and economic empowerment within rural communities.

Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) are environmentally friendly vehicles powered by an electric motor and battery, serving to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. However, public understanding of the technology, advantages, and disadvantages of electric cars is still limited. A Community Service activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Kotabaru, where students faced challenges in assembling an electric car, specifically with its battery, electrical systems, and software. Furthermore, myths among the teachers created apprehension about using electric vehicles. This outreach program aimed to introduce EV technology, educate on its pros and cons, and increase public awareness and acceptance. The methods used included lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. The expected outcome of this activity is an increase in public knowledge and acceptance of electric cars as an eco-friendly technology. Therefore, broader and more intensive outreach is necessary to promote the general use of environmentally friendly technologies.

Abstract

The challenge of waste management lies not only in the volume but also in the increasingly complex characteristics of the waste and the limited processing facilities. The Regency Government has carried out management efforts through the construction of the Mrican TPST, the operation of several 3R TPS sites, as well as educational campaigns such as the SAMTAKU (Your Waste, My Responsibility) program. However, there are several structural issues, including low community participation in waste sorting and the suboptimal use of location-based management guidelines. This study can provide information related to ongoing waste management and help every passerby and newcomer to the Mrican landfill area to understand and comprehend the proper procedures for effective and environmentally friendly waste management by placing flow cards at each point that can be read by people entering the area, The results indicate that the information is very helpful for the village government in explaining the management of waste in their surrounding area

Abstract

Feed availability and quality are critical factors affecting the productivity of small ruminant livestock. In smallholder farming systems, feed management remains a major constraint due to limited availability of quality forage, seasonal fluctuations in feed supply, and low adoption of feed processing technologies. Similar challenges were identified in the Berkah Mandiri Farm farmer group in Pejambon Village, Negeri Katon District, Pesawaran Regency, where traditional goat husbandry and simple feed management practices are still commonly applied. This community service program aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills through the introduction and application of Urea Molasses Block (UMB) as a feed supplement for local goats. The activities were conducted through extension sessions, hands-on training on UMB production, and evaluation using questionnaires. The results showed that farmers were able to independently produce UMB and understand its benefits as a supplementary source of nutrients. Overall, participants’ level of understanding regarding feed technology and UMB reached 75%, categorized as “good understanding”. The application of UMB technology is expected to improve feed management, enhance the productivity of local goats, and support the sustainable development of smallholder goat farming.

Abstract

This community service focuses on the vulnerability of children in the marginalized areas of the Ciliwung River banks to the negative impacts of digital information flow due to low media literacy. The main objective of this community service activity is to empower the children of the Mat Peci Community through the strengthening of educational media literacy, in order to foster critical attitudes, media ethics, and the ability to filter information. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving observation, socialization, and interactive simulation sessions specifically designed for children. The results of the service show positive dynamics, where children begin to show an understanding of the dangers of hoaxes, cyberbullying, and the importance of limiting screen time. This activity triggers the emergence of new awareness and social transformation at the grassroots level, equipping the younger generation of Mat Peci with the digital intelligence essential for their future.

Abstract

The Candi Madani fish farming group in Candiroto Urban Village, Kendal District, Kendal Regency has productive economic potential in freshwater aquaculture. However, the group still faces several challenges related to production management, feed efficiency, business recording, water quality control, and marketing of harvested fish. This community service program aimed to improve the group’s production and marketing capacity through technical aquaculture training, business management assistance, production cost recording, and simple digital marketing optimization. The program applied a participatory approach consisting of needs assessment, training, field practice, mentoring, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test instruments. The results indicate an increase in participants’ understanding of production management from an average score of 56.40 to 84.20, and marketing understanding from 52.80 to 82.60. The program also encouraged the group to apply basic business records and promote fish products through social media and WhatsApp Business. Furthermore, the mentoring process helped the group formulate production planning based on harvest cycles, local market segmentation, and direct marketing strategies targeting consumers, food stalls, and community networks. This program demonstrates that strengthening fish farming groups should be conducted in an integrated manner, covering not only technical production aspects but also business management and marketing capacity to improve group independence, productivity, and competitiveness. Abstract

Tourism villages are a strategic instrument for equitable economic development in Indonesia, yet many, including Cipada Tourism Village in West Bandung Regency, remain constrained by limited digital literacy and the absence of an integrated digital marketing ecosystem. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the digital capacity of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Cipada through digital marketing training and the development of an integrated marketplace, desawisatacipada.com. Held on 19 May 2026 and involving 26 participants, the activity combined situational analysis, two training sessions on smartphone product photography and marketplace operation, hands-on assistance, and observation-based evaluation, and marked the soft launch of the marketplace. The results indicate that the training broadened participants' understanding of digital visual marketing and online selling. At the same time, the marketplace provides a shared economic space that supports the village's sustainable economic competitiveness.
