Abstract

Abstract This research examines the Canva application's use in creating marketing tools in the Hotel Marketing course. The study's main objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of Canva as a learning tool in improving students' skills in designing marketing materials such as business cards, brochures, and company profiles for the hospitality industry. This study employs a classroom action research method, involving 54 hospitality program students from a polytechnic in Indonesia. Participants were divided into an experimental group using Canva and a control group using traditional methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, assessment of the quality of marketing tools produced, student’s confidence and quality in roleplay activities. The results show that students who performed roleplays using self-made promotional media demonstrated better material mastery and confidence than those who performed roleplays without promotional media. These findings highlight the potential of Canva as an effective pedagogical tool in hospitality education. This learning approach can equip students with basic visual design skills relevant to modern industry demands. This research provides valuable insights for hospitality educators in integrating design technology into the curriculum to enhance student learning outcomes. Abstract

Guest complaint handling is one of the important aspects in the hospitality industry that directly affects customer satisfaction and loyalty. This research aims to analyze and evaluate the guest complaint handling process by Guest Relation Officers at a five-star hotel in Bandung. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews and direct observation. The results showed that communication skills, empathy and product knowledge are key in resolving guest complaints.

Abstract

The implementation of hygiene and sanitation standards in catering management is a crucial aspect of the food service industry, especially in vocational education settings that prepare professional workers. This study aims to analyze the implementation of hygiene and sanitation standards in higher vocational education programs in the culinary field in Bandung. The research employs an observational study and policy analysis across several vocational education institutions with culinary programs. The findings indicate that most institutions have implemented hygiene and sanitation standards in accordance with existing regulations, although challenges remain in monitoring and student compliance. This study recommends enhancing training, stricter monitoring, and integrating a more comprehensive practice-based curriculum to improve awareness and adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards.

Abstract

Rawa Danau, one of the important conservation areas in Banten Province, has high biodiversity and great economic potential, especially in the tourism, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture sectors. However, the development of this area faces challenges such as land use conflicts, limited infrastructure, and the risk of natural disasters. This study aims to analyse the economic potential, challenges and strategies for sustainable management of the area. The methods used include policy, spatial, and SWOT analyses, as well as interviews with stakeholders. The results showed that conservation-based development, infrastructure improvement, and local community involvement can improve community welfare and income. Research recommendations include the development of sustainable tourism, strengthening regulations, and collaboration between the government, private sector and communities. This holistic strategy is expected to support inclusive and environmentally friendly development in Rawa Danau.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi persepsi user di industri perhotelan terhadap kompetensi mahasiswa yang menjalani On the Job Training (OJT) di departemen pemasaran, serta merumuskan rekomendasi bagi perguruan tinggi dalam mempersiapkan kurikulum pembelajaran yang relevan dengan kebutuhan industri saat ini. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan tiga praktisi industri berpengalaman, yakni seorang General Manager, staf Human Resource Development, dan staf Marketing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun mahasiswa memiliki dasar pengetahuan dari perguruan tinggi, masih terdapat kesenjangan kompetensi, khususnya dalam pemahaman produk hotel, penggunaan istilah industri, dan keterampilan pemasaran digital. Selain itu, aspek sikap kerja seperti etos kerja, kemampuan beradaptasi, dan soft skills seperti sikap (attitude) juga perlu diperkuat. Kebutuhan industri saat ini menuntut mahasiswa untuk tidak hanya menguasai teori, tetapi juga memiliki kesiapan mental dan kemampuan beradaptasi dengan dinamika kerja. Oleh karena itu, perguruan tinggi disarankan untuk memperkuat kurikulum berbasis kebutuhan industri, meningkatkan sinergi dengan dunia usaha, serta membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan praktis yang relevan, seperti digital marketing dan penguasaan Property Management System (PMS). Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi acuan bagi institusi pendidikan dalam menyusun strategi pembelajaran yang lebih selaras dengan tuntutan industri perhotelan.

Abstract

Abstract Digital transformation serves as a solution for improving operational efficiency in the hospitality industry. One process that requires optimization is voucher preparation, which is still conducted manually in many establishments. This study aims to compare work efficiency between manual and QR Code–based Digital systems in the preparation voucher process. A qualitative method was used, with data collected through observation, interviews, and workflow simulations. The findings indicate that QR Code implementation has the potential to streamline workflow, reduce staff workload, minimize recording errors, and support practical service digitalization. The study recommends adopting the QR Code–based Digital system as a more efficient and environmentally friendly alternative in hotel operations. Abstract

The tourism sector has a crucial role in driving economic growth and regional development. A place that has potential to be developed as a tourist destination is the Depok City Square. Although it has been equipped with adequate public facilities, the number of people visiting the location still shows inconsistency. This study aims to determine the effect of brand awareness on tourist interest in visiting the Depok City Square. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method using a survey approach. 379 respondents were selected through a simple random sampling technique from population of residents who had visited the Depok City Square. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires and analyzed with the help of statistical software. the results of the analysis showed that the significance value was 0.000 (<0.05) and the coefficient value of the relationship was 0.459. Thus, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means there is a significant impact and a fairly strong and unidirectional correlation between brand awareness and tourist interest in visiting the Depok City Square. Abstract

Tourist attractions play a crucial role in attracting visitors to a destination. This study investigates the influence of cultural attractions on tourists' decisions to visit Kampung Budaya Betawi Setu Babakan. Using a quantitative method with 382 respondents, data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics and the Spearman correlation test. The findings reveal that visitors are highly satisfied with the spatial layout, cleanliness, and cultural presentation at the destination. The most influential factors in decision-making include visual displays and the overall cultural atmosphere. A positive and significant correlation exists between cultural attractions and visit decisions. These results suggest that enhancing the quality and diversity of cultural attractions can effectively increase tourist interest. The study provides valuable insights for destination managers and local authorities in planning sustainable cultural tourism strategies. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of On the Job Training (OJT) and trainee competence on the job readiness of students participating in a training program at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. Using an associative quantitative approach, 55 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS 25. The results show that, simultaneously, OJT and trainee competence have a significant effect on job readiness. However, individually, only trainee competence has a significant effect, while OJT does not. This suggests that job readiness is more strongly influenced by the trainees' internal factors than by the technical aspects of the OJT program implementation itself.

Abstract

Receiving is a department that is responsible for the process of receiving goods and equipment for hotel operations. The success of receiving in maintaining the quality of goods when receiving goods is also influenced by the completeness of facilities for receiving goods at receiving.The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of Hotel X Receiving Facilities on Employee Performance. The population of this study was 33 employees of Hotel X. Data collection techniques used a Google Form questionnaire, conducting observations, documentation, and conducting research on literature studies. This research method is descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach. Data analysis used is a correlation test, determination test, and t test. The results of the study showed that the significance value of 0.844 means there is a significant influence, meaning the level of closeness of the relationship between variables can be said to be strong. So it can be concluded that Ha is accepted, Ho is rejected, then there is an influence between Receiving Facilities on Employee Performance at Hotel X. Hotel X should be able to provide complete and adequate receiving facilities both in terms of facilities and infrastructure, because the availability of complete receiving facilities can support employee work productivity.
